Services
Emerald Coast Animal Hospital has been serving pets of the Emerald Coast for over fifteen years. We are a full-service, small animal veterinary hospital providing comprehensive medical, surgical and dental care for dogs, cats, potbelly pigs, birds, and reptiles. We proudly maintain our practice accreditation through the American Animal Hospital Association.
Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. We also believe that our geriatric patients can benefit from twice-yearly exams. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs. With an ultrasound unit and a flexible microendoscope, many diseases can be diagnosed without invasive procedures.
The Canine Discovery Center offers everything you can imagine in dog boarding, grooming and training. Located directly behind Emerald Coast Animal Hospital on Mary Esther Cutoff, our new facility will help you "rediscover your best friend!" We have Doggy Daycare for friendly, active, bored-at-home pups.
Because we want the best for your pet, we require certain health standards for pets boarding or attending daycare. These protocols keep your pet safe, as well as protecting other's pets. For more information about our recommended vaccine protocols, please see our Recommended Vaccines. Intestinal Parasite Screen - We must have a negative parasite screen on file within the last 12 months.

When you have an appointment for euthanasia. When it's YOUR mistake. You should have let the owner be with their dying animal and not strangers. Shame on you for not calling the owner to say they didn't sign, to hold her animal overnight and to charge her for an overnight stay when it was negligence on your part.you know who she is. And now we know where not to go.

Vet Staff are disrespectful and not helpful. Additionally, there is no interaction with the vet. My chief complaint is lack of patient concern and safety, my puppy was over vaccinated. This is a safety concern as it demonstrates patient records aren't revised prior to treatment by the vet team. Nonetheless, this incident(s) should've been prevented with a review of the treatment plan, revision of write-up and patient verification. Lastly, the vet tech dismissed me when I asked a question regarding my pups health.
She advised to have my questions ready prior to my pup being taken back (in other words i had to wait for the next appt). Next appt, I asked questions prior to my pup being taken back and was told to wait until he was returned. Upon receiving my pup, i reattempted to ask questions but was redirected to the reception staff. Needless to say, I'm dissatisfied with the clinic's service. Update: it's been 9 months since our last visit and was recently notified of a missed fee.
This is the second incident in which the clinic charges for a fee missed by them. They continued to send notifications for the incorrect Vaccine. Their write ups are copied and pasted and this why my pup was over vaccinated. All 4 receipts/write-ups identified my pup received the first shot of a 3 series shot. They continued to send notifications for "the remaining shots" of the series. I will share the receipts on this page once I figure out how to add images to my post. I Do not recommend bringing your fur kid to this clinic.

Took my dog to this vet because I was concerned he was suffering from an allergic reaction. I went in and only spoke with the vet techs and waited in a room alone while they took my dog to see the vet. I was never able to speak with him, only the techs. They said that he had told them it was demodectic mange. Was prescribed an antibiotic and given a heart worm and flea and tick treatment.
About a month or month and a half later, my dog was still really suffering and to me it seemed worse. Called the receptionist and they told me to come in for another exam(charging me a full exam fee). Got there and still only was able to talk with the techs. The tech came back from the vet and told me literally the same exact treatment plan. When I questioned it she told me she would go back and asks what he thinks.
The vet did come in the room after that and spoke to me. He was EXTREMELY rude. I was in so much shock after the way he spoke to me, I truly couldn't believe it. My husband was on FaceTime and was also in disbelief that someone could be so rude. I got another round of antibiotics and was told I needed to continue the flea treatment for three months and that is what was causing my dogs mange problem.
I was so shook after this appointment I just got the antibiotics, which I had to pay for AGAIN. But didn't want to spend any more money that what I thought I had to because of how rude this man was. We gave our dog the second round of antibiotics and I really didn't see much change. Fast forward another month, we've moved houses and IMMEDIATELY started noticing a difference.
His "mange" by his eye is completely cleared up and his feet are not even a little bit red. This was CLEARLY an allergy to something in the yard at our previous house. This vet said that without his three month flea and tick treatment that there was zero chance of his "mange" clearing up, and that it would in fact, get worse. We did not go with his treatment plan and because it was in fact allergies and not mange like he said, we now have a happy and healthy dog.

My one-year-old Yorkie, Milo developed some gray mucus in his eyes. I called my vet and explained his situation, so they asked me to wash his eyes and to keep checking his eyes often, and if the mucus didn't go away, we were to bring him in. The problem was we were leaving Atlanta for a little vacation in Destin. We arrived in Destin and after a few days the mucus was still coming back, so I called three or four vets, but they were all booked except for the Emerald Coast Animal Hospital.
I was able to get Milo in and they examined him and found out he had a bacteria infection called conjunctivitis. They prescribed a few prescriptions and he is now back to normal and doing fine. I recommend Emerald Coast Animal Hospital to all who need their pets medical needs met.

First of all you will never speak to the Veterinarian. All interactions are through the assistants. I just moved to the area and brought my dog in for a routine exam. I was told that my dog's teeth were in terrible shape and several extractions will be necessary. I was a bit surprised but. if it was necessary, I agreed. A few weeks later I came in and they explained that I would need to pay upfront the high side of the teeth cleaning estimate $2,200.
I paid the bill and headed out. When I came back and picked up my dog and the assistant told me "all went well, teeth are in great shape." I asked how many teeth needed to be extracted? None, just needed a cleaning. Good news I was told that I will be refunded about $1000. Why was I told the teeth were some of the worst the Vet had ever seen? This was just a teeth cleaning that I paid $1,200!. Stories did not line up and I was way over charged.
This place is the type of place that just cares about making money. If you want interaction with a Veterinarian who can take time to show you the issues there are several other options out there. Stay away!

I had an appointment today and was sold expired medication. Upon calling to resolve this issue I was told it wasn't "technically" expired, it was still good for at least a year. After speaking with 3 different ppl I was finally told I could bring the one back and exchange it but the other one that I can't read the manufacturer's exp date on, I was told all the ones they have on their shelves are good through 2023.
Its also their printed label that states it's expired. I'm not sure why they wouldn't update their own labels. If the label had not said it was expired I probably wouldn't have checked for a manufacture exp date. My last time going here after being regulars for over a year. I will find my 5 dogs another vet. The sad thing is the meds I was given didn't even need a prescription. I could have purchased in date products for 1/3 of the price from chewy. If this is your vet check your expiration dates before checking out.
