Services
Dutch Pet Motel is a family run pet boarding kennel located in a scenic country setting in rural Crete, Illinois. There are several outdoor play yards in many different sizes for the dogs to enjoy as well as heated and air conditioned indoor runs in 3 different sizes. Dutch Pet Motel is owned and operated by Adam DuBuque, who himself have 6 dogs and 2 cats in their family.
Play Yard: A member of our staff will take your dog out to our extra large play yard for 20 minutes of one-on-one playtime and exercise. Nature Walk: A very nice and long pet nature walk on a retractable leash around our grassy nature trail. Great for dogs that prefer a leisurely walk over a fast game of fetch.
A: The best way to deal with worms, of course, is to make use of worm prevention techniques. Either have a sample tested annually, or have preventative worming performed at least once a year. In dogs, the common heartworm preventatives also help prevent the more common intestinal worms. Most worms have a lifecycle that makes it easy to for pets to become re-infested.

We boarded our 7 month old pup for 7 nights. I have never boarded a dog for this long before but we had circumstances we couldn't work around. He was great with communication. I wasn't sure what to expect but our dog came home just as we had dropped her off. Happy and healthy! It's very clear Adam cares a lot about the dogs he has in his care and knows how to protect and keep them safe and happy.

I went here for a tour to find a location to board my furbaby during my upcoming trip. The owner was very friendly and made my golden retriever feel very welcomed. His rates are reasonable and he is willing to work with us for a Sunday drop off (which is not a regular business day). I am looking forward to my furbaby staying here and I feel comfortable!

The Dutch pet motel was great with my dog Baaz! She stayed the weekend and the experience was wonderful! She is a rescue German Shepard so she can be very nervous about new places and people and the owner was very patient with her. She also has an eating disorder and he said she did really well eating during her stay! We will be using them again for future boarding! Thanks again!

Very disappointed with the lack of communication with the Dutch Pet Motel. Brought our dog here for a longer than normal stay (30 days) while my mother was purchasing a new home and in the interim could not keep him with her. After reading reviews online we liked what we read about the Dutch Pet Motel and decided to go with them. We brought our dog to the vet the morning of the day we were dropping him off with the boarder.
We were told it is probably best to not come visit him while in boarding so that he did not feel "abandoned" over again, which makes sense. When we came to pick him up, he had lost 23lbs which is a 1/4 of his normal body weight. He also had numerous scabbing and sores all over his body. It almost looked like he had been locked in a pen without food for the entire stay.
I understand that there is a possibility he would not eat as much as normal being in a new environment, but to lose 23lbs is ridiculous. I feel that being in this business, someone should have seen that this dog was losing so much weight and at least given us a call to come look at him/take him to the vet. We took him to the same vet immediately upon picking him up and that is where they told us he had lost 23lbs in the 4 week stay.
When we asked Adam why he did not call us to inform us of the weight loss, he claimed "he did not know the dog". It does not take a rocket scientist to see a 95lb dog (normal weight) had lost 23lbs. This place may be a good weekend boarder, but as far as a lengthy stay, this is not the place/people you want to be looking after your family pet.

I can not say enough good things about Dutch Pet Motel and Adam. We were looking for a reliable, reputable place to board our 4 year old Yorkie. Our search is over! We were amazed at how our dog took to Adam right away. Adam truly loves dogs and I found that to be key in boarding. He treats your dog as they are one of his own beloved pets. I feel confident in knowing our fur baby is in good hands and now I'm not so hesitant to travel without our dog. It's a 45 minute drive one way but it's worth it!

I live in Chicago and make the 90 minute-2 hour round-trip drive out to Crete to leave my dog at the Dutch Pet Motel whenever I travel for more than a few days. Initially I started taking my dog there because daily prices are considerably lower than they are in the city and I also wanted my dog to have outdoor space to run, but I have continued to do so because I really trust the Dutch Pet Motel's owner, Adam.
I have kind of a difficult dog: he's hyperactive, often aggressive towards other dogs, and acts out if he's not getting the attention he wants (I promise he has good qualities, too!). Adam has always been very good in dealing with my dog's personality quirks and even came up with some new ways of handling them. He taught my dog how to run on a treadmill (!) and encouraged me to buy a treadmill myself.
Now my dog runs up to 5 miles a day on the treadmill I have at home, and the extra exercise he gets has significantly improved some of his behavioral issues. This is really way above and beyond the care my dog has had at any other kennel I've been to. When I pick my dog up, he's always happy, healthy (and tired), and Adam volunteers all sorts of short stories about what my dog did during his stay, if he ran on the treadmill or just in the yard, which other dogs he got along with (or more likely didn't), etc. This really shows the personalized attention that Adam gives to the dogs he looks after.

My dog hates when we go on vacation. She can always tell when we're leaving and knows she has to stay somewhere else. When we get home, she will seemingly hold it against us for a few days afterwards, but that did not happen after coming here. She seemed to have a good time, and the employees said good things about her. Next time we go on vacation, I am certain we will be bringing our dog back here.

It's clear Adam, the owner and manager, puts the welfare of his charges as his top priority. Before I left my two dogs with him for the first time, he gave me a tour of the facilities. Everything was ship shape and Bristol fashion. I picked my dogs up after four days and they appeared happy and at ease. If the need arises, I will use Dutch Pet Motel again.

The Motel was recommended to me by a friend and she raved and raved about it. The owner, Adam, is quite good with dogs - she calls him the dog whisperer - and dogs who stay here get to stay in a country setting. You can pay a little for your dog to get "leisurely nature walks" or 20-minute one-on-one throw and fetch sessions. Adam lives right next door, so he's always around.
He loves dogs and treated mine very well. She was in a great mood when I picked her up after nine days and jumped all over him when he sat down on the floor to say goodbye to her. The inside quarters leave a bit to be desired, but I don't think the dogs care about that! AND all of this for $21/day, at least for dogs. Give the Dutch a try!
