Services
At Landheim, we are committed to providing professional, yet personalized service for all your dog related needs. For over 50 years, we have specialized in Training, Boarding and Grooming all breeds of dogs. We also offer the finest quality World Class German Shepherd puppies and trained adults. We sincerely hope you will take some time to learn more about Landheim. We believe you will find that there is no better place to train, board & groom your furry family member. The facts speak for themselves!
Landheim pre-trains a suitable dog. This dog will be trained to meet specifications for a patrol dog. The department then sends it's officer through a four week handler course. This course includes both classroom and practical field work. This course is superior to other handler courses because of the amount of knowledge the handler receives.
Service dogs are specially trained to provide a certain service for their owner. Some service dogs can detect seizures or low blood sugar, while others provide emotional support and therapy. Ultimately, service dogs provide opportunities for their companions and even change and save lives. That's why Landheim is proud to train service dogs in northwest Indiana.
Your pet's comfort and safety are our highest priority. Our dog boarding facility is air conditioned for summertime cooling, and features heated floors for those chilly winter days. The heated floors are both inside and out providing comfort inside, and safety outside. We are the only dog boarding facility in the area offering this!

Sorry to post a 2 star because I liked the people at Landheim when we dropped them off and met them and felt pretty good about leaving our 2 dogs with them. It was our first time boarding with them. When we called to check on them, we were told they were not eating much or coming out of the crates and just basically laying around. The reason I am leaving 2 stars is because when we picked them up, my 1 yr old rottie had a raspy cough, the girl said it was because she pulled her, and it probably choked her.
If it continues to give her some honey. I believe she knew that this was going on already. The next day it got worse and she wouldn't even move or eat and my other rottie was started to do the same thing. We took them to the Vet only to find out they have "canine infectious respiratory disease complex", otherwise known as kennel cough. $420.00 later with meds my babies are finally starting to feel better. My vet told us if I had known where you were boarding them I would of told you not to.

We love all the girls at Landheim that look after our dog Lucy and our cat Murray. Can't tell you how nice it is to have a boarding place that accepts both pets. They're extremely reasonable and work quickly to check your pets in so you can make your flight. We're looking forward to trying the training for Lucy next. Thanks Landheim!

Every thing was going good until the forth visit, the head trainer feels you didn't do EXACTLY what he felt you should have done, then he embarrasses you in front of the whole class and he has them laughing at you. He should have pulled me off to the side or waited until class was over to make his comment of correction.

Horrible experience. Abusive, harsh training methods. Took our 6 month German Shepard for a 1 hr lesson for basic command training- witnessed the trainer harshly popping our dogs neck with a flat collar, switched to an e-collar and electrified her so intensely she squealed most of the time. And on our way out he warned us that if our dog had diarrhea or vomiting it was normal due to the shocks. Glad we did not purchase board training. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. Heartbreaking for us to watch and traumatizing to our dog.

Absolutely love this place. 1st time ever having to board my fur baby. As hard as it was for me, they made it easy. They have the patience of saints- my baby is very rambunctious. They took great care of him, didn't laugh at me or lose their patience when I would call and check on him, and they have great training and groomers. I will definitely go back and highly recommend their services!

This is a great place to take your dogs for training. I rescued two out-of-control stray pitbulls, and the trainers are working wonders with the dogs and teaching me how to control them. The place is clean, the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and are extremely experienced. I highly recommend this facility for training, boarding, etc. They are top-notch. Kip, Sarah, and Kevin are particularly good at their job(s).

Brought my dog here 2 times to get groomed, I specially said I didn't want her to short. They shaved her completely. Went there again recently, and made sure to say that she just needed a TRIM and to leave it longer for winter just to clean up the paws and just a little off the length. I mentioned it was WAY to short last time, I go to pick her up and she's shaved. again! I'm not going back here for grooming again that's for sure.

Amazing training. We have been through Basic Obedience and have about two weeks left on Advance 1. My dog is a Husky / AmStaff mix and he's very hyper but the guys and gals at Landheim are amazing. Dog training is 100 percent about conditioning the handler on working the dog. Your k9 already knows how to Dog. You need to learn how to speak his language.
This isn't like going to PetSmart or getting lessons from Cesar Milan. This is no BS training that the military and police handlers get. You will learn to handle your dog correctly and fairly and at the end of it you will love your dog more. I will be definitely be progressing with my Pup once this class is over.

I would absolutely give Landheim 5 stars. I've used them for both boarding, training and grooming They are good at what they do. They know dogs. Unfortunately it's the owners that need trained that's why there are bad dogs. The person who left a 1star apparently is one of those people that need trained.

Sorry to post a 2 star because I liked the people at Landheim and felt pretty good about leaving our dogs with them. Couple of problems, though. Picked them up at about 9:15 AM because they open at 9. Everything seemed good. One of the dogs whined all the way home and we just thought it was because he was nervous/excited. Took them straight outside and they peed.and peed and peed and peed.
They also pooped. One pooped twice. It was very obvious that they hadn't been out yet for the morning, which is ridiculous, considering the time, and they also didn't bother to mention to us that they hadn't been out. While they were peeing forever, I also remembered that the same thing happened the last time I picked them up. Also, the website says to pack snacks and toys, etc.
Both times, not one of the treats was given. All of them came back, just the way I packed them. Can't say for sure, but it kinda looked like none of the toys had come out of the bag or the shirt they ask you to include with your scent on it. Kind of gives the feeling that your dogs aren't as "loved" as you hope they will be while you're away.
A side question is the fact that they wash the dogs bedding for you, which is nice. But I'm not clear on how that works. If we pick the dogs up right when they open and they haven't even had time to let the dogs outside yet (and I should note that each kennel has it's own, individual outside area, so I'm not clear why there should be any delay in letting the dogs outside since it doesn't have to be done individually), then how have they had time to wash the dogs bedding in the morning after they slept on it that night?
