A behaviorist is responsible for evaluating a dog to determine what problems are going on, why they are going on and coming up with a plan to correct the issues. In other words the behaviorist looks into the canine mind to figure out how the dog thinks and lets owners understand why the behavior is occurring and then comes up with a plan to correct it.

Many times we have an owner call up and tell us that their dog listens or follows commands but gets aggressive during specific situations. This is a prime example of someone who needs a behaviorist and not a trainer.

Just to give you a little background on whom we are at Canine Case Squad and where we evolved. We began our training education in 1990 studying and getting certified by the Animal Behavior Center of New York. We are both Board Certified Companion Animal Behavior Counselors and certified trainers and over the last 23 years we have worked with all breeds of dogs.
If you are unsure how severe your problems are and if you can realistically resolve them, this service is for you. We will conduct a detailed and scientific evaluation of your situation. We will honestly inform you if you have a true problem, how severe it is, how much work you are looking at to resolve it and if it is safe for you to resolve it in your specific family situation.

A board certified behaviorist has studied applied canine behavior at a licensed graduate school and after school, they have met requirements of either a independent certifying board or an approved veterinary school. They understand behavioral concepts as well as applied canine behavior. A trainer is someone that has learned how to teach a dog a set of skills.

Canine Case Squad is amazing. We adopted our dog Maggie about a year and half ago and from the beginning she had severe dog aggression issues. She lunged and growled at every dog she saw no matter how far away they were, making walks and even car rides super difficult. Maggie loved going to her sessions and when it was time for her in house stay for two weeks we were really comfortable and had no reservations about leaving her since she enjoyed going there and loved everyone there so much.

They taught us how to handle it if we do pass a dog and made her more comfortable with dogs being around. We were able to take her camping and there was a dog that wandered the campground and she was showed no signs of aggression and actually greeted the dog briefly. She got compliments about how she didn't bark at the other dog and was so well behaved.

We've been taking her new places and doing things with her because she's been doing so much better with dogs being around, she's super happy being able to go out and enjoy the summer and we weren't able to do that before Canine Case Squad.

Shari and team are the best! Our dog Dallas was pushy and always scared. She went to Canine Case Squad and has came back a totally different dog. Her behavior is so much better now. Shari gave us the tools and training to ensure Dallas gets the proper guidance from us and now we know how to correct her behavior so we can enjoy our time with her even more.

I've had a few friends that met our dog before and after the training. Everyone that has met Dallas since her training has said she is a different dog and so much better. Thank you Shari and Dan!

When you bring home a new puppy - you're filled with thoughts of carefree experiences like walks in the woods, days at the beach, car rides and hanging with your canine pup at wineries, breweries and festivals. That's what I envisioned when I brought my 4 month old German Shorthaired Puppy home. I also had visions of her becoming a therapy dog to someday assume my older GSP's visiting schedule.

I immediately enrolled her in a daycare program and attended daily obedience classes with her; all my plans were in full motion until one day my beautiful sweet puppy freaked out at a stranger when I picked her up from daycare. I initially shrugged it off -stranger danger - puppies - it happens she will outgrow it. Unfortunately the fear issue intensified; so much so I could not walk my sweet puppy without episodes of barking and thrashing out at passer-bys.

Forget having a friend over to the house or a repairman, it was chaos. I tried working with the current trainer but we were not seeing any results. It was then I knew I needed to contact Canine Case Squad. I had worked with CCS in late 2008 after bringing a rescue dog into my home who was having displaying serious separation anxiety with separation - they provided some useful guidance and I am happy to report 10 years later - my boy is doing great.

Now back to my current situation, upon our consultation visit, CCS determined my puppy had developed Dominant Fear Aggression. Scary words and when googled and youtube video - even scarier. But Shari and team and CCS assured me that they felt they could help my girl. First course of action - remove her from daycare which we believe was the source of her issues - we believe something traumatic happened at Daycare.

The recommendation was for a 3 week Behavioral modification program and some medical protocol. This behavioral modification program involved my now year old friend spending 3 weeks at CCS facility AS well as training sessions for me - to be a more confident leader. Anyone who has a dog knows how hard it is to be away from them for one day much less 3 weeks but I had to try to give my girl a chance at some normalcy.

So I packed her up favorite toy - her food - some treats and lots of tissues (tissues were for me) and handed her over to Shari and the CCS staff. While I was unable to physically visit her for 3 weeks I was thankful for the opportunity to view her on a live feed video cam and also to receive weekly drop box videos. At the conclusion of the 3 weeks I was thrilled to see my girl - but apprehensive that I was capable of keeping her improvement moving forward.

It has been 1 solid month since her BMP and I am compelled to report the following recent experience. I was driving to visit family in NC - this involved stopping at rest areas, staying overnight in a hotel and spending a few days at a family member's house. ALL new experiences for my Dog. Following Shari and Team's instructions to the "T" - I was floored to see that my girl walked into the hotel lobby without incident - slept on the bed with me without issue and paid no attention to people at the rest areas.

When meeting family members and their dogs - we were able to go on a PACK walk within5 minutes of my arrival. My dog who was terrified of strangers - especially men - and aggressive to other dogs - was walking with 3 dogs she had never met and was letting my uncle cuddle with her. We did have a WOOF here or a WOOF there during out stay - but those incidents were quickly resolved by following the correction protocol. I am just so excited to share the milestones made by my girl and look forward to future road trips with her and experiences.

My dog recently had a two-week stay at Canine Case Squad. He had anxiety issues that manifested as dog-on-dog aggression. After working with Shari and Cindy, my dog has become less reactive to other dogs. With their help, I can now walk my dog and have him focus on me instead of other dogs/people. I feel like I have more control over my dog and I am now able to bring him more places.

They spoke so kindly of my dog and I greatly appreciated the Facebook posts that allowed me to "check-in" on him while he was away. Their help in the aftercare sessions is also very beneficial and allows me to introduce my dog to new environments with their one-on-one assistance. They are truly knowledgeable and come highly recommended!

There are not enough adjectives to describe how phenomenal Shari and the team at Canine Case Squad are at what they do. In February 2018, my husband and I adopted our dog, Pippin. Within a month or two we soon realized that although Pippin was a totally loveable mush to us, he was reactive to strangers and other dogs. He even bit a few of our family members and a former trainer.

We were filled with love for our boy but stressed out and unsure of what to do. Thank goodness we found Canine Case Squad! In August 2018 we brought Pippin in for an evaluation. Shari and the team were direct and extremely informative, but also totally put us at ease and made us feel hopeful. Pippin completed a 2 week in house stay in January 2019 and we are so thrilled and impressed at the progress he has made.

His progress of course depends on the effort that we make as his parents, but the CCS staff is so wonderful at explaining not only dog but also human behaviors. We've never felt embarrassed to ask questions or bring up concerns, and Shari is also always super quick to respond to emails if we have questions outside of our sessions. Pippin is a calmer dog and a better listener, and we are more confident as his parents to take him on long walks and introduce him to strangers. Pippin LOVES all his friends at Canine Case Squad, and so do we! Thank you a million more times for everything! :

I have 2 Jack Russell mix litter mates, a boy and a girl and at times they would fight viciously, never any blood -except myself once and that's when I decided something had to be done. What Canine Case Squad taught ME about my dogs and how to handle them was life changing for myself and my dogs. While I know it's not possible for everyone to be able to do this, I still highly recommend bringing your dogs here. It is remarkable how little we actually know about handling dogs.

Shari and Cindy are remarkable- which is an understatement! We had 'pack' issues with our three dogs, who were constantly fighting (bloody) for dominance. After a couple of sessions observing and inquiring continuously of actions, reactions, and behavioral analysis of the dogs and us - Shari and Cindy set up a structured plan to remedy the main problem of fighting.

We put their guidance and homework into action with immediate results. As behavioral experts, they were able to educate us and help us understand the dog's mentality. the dog's lack of respect toward their lord & masters! We continued with more sessions and began to experience a completely different home life. Now after multiple sessions and lessons, we now have the skills necessary to identify and modify the dog's behavior immediately and modify other annoyances (barking, jealousy, manners, etc). Shari and Cindy were extremely knowledgeable, professional, and approachable.

I highly recommend their business (services) -- they saved our family and cured a problem, which was headed toward giving up a loving 'fur baby'!?! They stopped numerous stressful and finger biting moments! Many sincere thanks and great appreciation for what they have done to help 'the pack'!

I'm blown away by my visit to Canine Case Squad. They had my dog figured out in minutes and helped me develop a plan to correct our issues. They took the time to make sure I understood my dog's body language and when I need to step in and help him. I'm so impressed with all of them! I drove 4 hours (one way) for my visit and it was well worth the trip. My only regret is not contacting them sooner! I will not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

My dog Riley recently had a 2 week stay at Canine Case Squad due to severe dog reactivity and separation anxiety. I had dealt with it for several years and just accepted that's how he was wired. Walks were stressful and put me on edge for fear of seeing another dog on the street. I decided to bring Riley for an evaluation and I then understood how stressed out he was and I was only nurturing the negative behavior.

After his initial training sessions and 2 week stay, I cannot begin to explain the transformation in him. He has become so well balanced and calm, not at all high strung. Shari and the staff at Canine Case Squad have such a gift with helping to rehabilitate dogs and give guidance and training to the owners. With their help, I have become a more structured owner and my dogs pick up on that as well.

I am so grateful they were able to rehabilitate my dog Riley and for showing me the tools to being a better owner/pack leader. We're now completing our final training sessions to keep up the progress. I highly recommend Canine Case Squad.

I highly recommend hiring Shari if you are having any behavioral issues with your dog. We received the referral from our local vet. Prior to seeing Shari, walking Bella was a huge challenge. She would tug her leash and bark at every possible opportunity such as seeing another dog, a squirrel or another person. Shari and her team diagnosed her and gave us the tools to bring out the best in our dog. Walking her or taking her in the car is now a fun experience. If your dog is experiencing behavior issues Canine Case Squad is a great choice.

The professionals at Canine Case Squad helped us with behavior training for our two dogs. Their approach trained both the dogs and us, producing better than hoped for results in recall, aggression management and socialization. The experienced staff transformed our dogs and provided us the training guidelines to continue the dogs' development.

The facility is first rate with numerous camera feeds to facilitate training and provide the dog owners the ability to watch over their pets during in house stays. I highly recommend Canine Case Squad. It was the transformative and favorable experience we needed to improve ours and the dogs' quality of life.

Shari and the staff at Canine Case Squad did an excellent job helping both of my dogs! I was extremely impressed with the knowledge and care Canine Case Squad treated my dogs with. They were very insightful when working with my dogs and equally understanding when explaining our dog's behavior to my wife and myself. I was thoroughly pleased and impressed with my experience. I would highly recommend Canine Case Squad to anyone needing assistance with canine behavioral issues.

We have two rescue dogs from the South, and have used Canine Case Squad for both. Our first, Juliet had lots of fear issues. At 13 weeks old, she was already so affected by poor socialization that she was terrified of so many things. We couldn't even bring a new toy home for her, because she was scared of the packaging. We worked with Shari and learned how to manage Juliet's fears, and ultimately ended up adopting a second dog after consulting with Shari.

Our second dog, Dixie, came with her own set of problems, the biggest being her leash reactivity to other dogs. I did my best to help her with it, but ultimately knew I needed professional help. When it was time, I was happy to call Canine Case Squad again to get help for my dog. It took one session to see results, and after three sessions I was well-equipped to handle her reactivity.

I am happy and proud to say that I now have two well-behaved, happy and well-adjusted dogs that walk well on a leash and are respectful towards us. We learned so much about our dogs and their behavior from Shari. I now foster dogs for the rescue that I got my two from, and I recommend Canine Case Squad to anyone that will listen.

We rescued a 6 month old pit bull that unfortunately immediately got gravely ill. Due to her illness and need for long term oxygen, Miss Daisy's neurological functions were slightly compromised. Miss Daisy developed an extreme case of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder that made both her life and ours chaotic. Daisy's OCD would manifest in the form of running from window to window in our house for hours at a time, whining and barking and jump incessantly on new people entering our home.

We found the Shari and Dan at the Canine Case Squad by word of mouth. After an extensive training program and their expert diagnosis and guidance they worked with our local vet on prescribing a combination of medications. Not only did Daisy go through training but we did as well. Through there expert guidance and training, Miss Daisy, and more importantly, our family, are well equipped to manage her challenges.

If it wasn't for Shari and Dan, we don't know what we would have done. We've had many dogs throughout the years, Miss Daisy presented challenges we didn't understand. Now, not only is Daisy a very happy girl, she is also a big sister to Finnegan. Both Daisy and Finn have trained at the Canine Case Squad and more importantly, my husband and myself as well.

We are all a very happy family. I would recommend Shari and Dan at the Canine Case Squad to anyone looking for expert training from kind, caring and very knowledgeable people. Shari and Dan (and Cindy too) did the impossible.they gave us the tools to manage a wonderful dog.

I found Canine Case Squad while searching for a trainer to help with my Boston Terrier, Oliver. Although he was always a sweet boy, he had twice bitten people after being startled by their getting tickled and screeching in a high voice. I was worried that we would be walking on egg shells around him or that I couldn't leave him with anyone. Shari had him come for a two week stay.

He was actually released early because he was doing well. He is such a good boy now. We have adapted all the changes that she told us we needed to, to get control of Oliver. I realized afterwards that Oliver had been running the house. We did everything when he wanted too, now all that has changed and we are all better for it. I walk him and his sister everyday now, we have a yard so I had never been much of a walker.

Now it's something I do with my husband or son, and I enjoy the connection we have to our dogs and each other thru such a simple act. Plus he walks so nicely. Shari found ways for him to help him not to be aggressive over startling noises and we continue to work with him. Oliver has helped his sister be a pretty good girl too because now she follows all the same rules as him. Don't hesitate to contact Shari and her team. You won't be sorry. One of things they do is video tape the training and show you how you can improve. They follow up with the dogs they train, which is super helpful.

Shari Forst is one of the best people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She is kind, smart and very well educated in the canine behavior field. She made us feel very welcome and like we could trust her right off the bat. She gave us sound advice, tips, and tactics to get our dog, Odin where he needed to be behavior wise. We adopted him in November, knowing that he needed some work.

When my boyfriend Mike and I realized we bit off more than we could chew, we were at a loss for what to do. I found Canine Case Squad on yelp, saw all the positive feedback online and decided to call. It was the best decision I've ever made for myself, my dog, and for the overall peace of my household! I would recommend Shari (and her team, canine included) to absolutely every person who has a dog in need of a little (or a lot of) help.

The main thing we learned was that the perfect dog is not going to bloom over night. Shari teaches you how to be consistent with your training and will not stop giving advice until the dog is where he or she needs to be, giving up is not an option for her! We enjoy Odin even more now, he respects us and listens very well. The overall relationship we have with him has improved tenfold and he is the companion we've always wanted, and we could not have done it without Canine Case Squad.
