At the age of three to four weeks our baby birds start their life with us in our store nursery, where large windows let them see everything that is going on. Baby birds have little to no immunity when they are this young so contact with people and other birds is very limited for the first few weeks of their lives.

This place is not the best bird store to visit. They're much smaller than they appear in photos, like much much smaller. It's more of a supply pet shop than it is an interactive or viewing experience. I do also think they judged a book by its cover (me). I wore normal comfortable clothing, a beanie with my curls hanging behind, maybe seemed too "Latino" or "ghetto" with my necklaces on but when I walked in, I greeted what seemed to be the only person working there with a hello and got no response back.
She didn't even acknowledge that we were in the shop. That's TERRIBLE business etiquette. And if I looked too suspicious for you, all the more reason to engage in conversation and see what brought us in to town. Your store. Drove 45 mins for your store to be absolutely let down. White washed store in a white washed town. Terrible.

I have been associated with world of birds since 2005 when I got my first pair of cockatiels. I have been an avid customer with them ever since having as many as 8 cockatiels at one time. They have high quality food and all the extras I need to sustain my birds. The people are incredibly nice and so helpful and I have also bought several cages from them as they are already assembled. If you are a bird lover you need to include world birds in your life. They are fantastic!

I've been visiting this store for the last 15 years for my last two cockatiels and all of their needs! The staff is super helpful, as I am constantly learning about my babies, and asks about how they are doing every time I come in for new toys and food. They have a great selection of food, treats, toys, and cleaning supplies, and helped me through weeks of deciding what cage was the best choice for my bird and even offered to special order some of my supplies. They sure are the best!

I bought a cockatiel here. I got a Lutino white faced cockatiel who has Lutino cockatiel syndrome. They tell you that you have to take your bird to vet because they can't guarantee health and it's best when buying a new bird. They have that policy in case the bird dies they will replace for you within a certain time period if you took to vet and they say it's sick or has health issues ( which is reasonable and other stores do this as well).
My only issue is that I feel as though they knew this bird was ill and I should have noticed as well. Every time I went to visit my bird it had bruises on beak etc. I thought for a second maybe they weren't handling him well or the other birds were beating him up (which wasn't the case bc vet said the bird has Lutino cockatiel syndrome).
My issue is that they sold the bird for a lot of money due to its rare beautiful color, and I have to wonder if they knew that my bird was off and not acting as a normal cockatiel would because I knew visiting and the first couple days at home something was off. I thought it's just a baby thing and he might grow out of it or he was just adjusting to a new home and environment. (naively) Either way I kept the bird and have worked really hard with recovery and training to make the bird have the best quality of life.
I would never return this bird I offered it a forever home and that's exactly what I've done. (despite my baby's special needs). The store is clean and well kept. There aren't many stores in my area and this is the closest. The store has many different kinds a birds however it's very small. The staff don't always appear to be the most friendliest which is the biggest turn off of this store. Other then that great selection of birds.

There aren't many bird stores in the area, so I've given this place many tries but have been continually disappointed. There is a lot that I like about this store: - They have a good selection of birds who all seem to be relatively healthy, socialized, well taken care of. - Decent selection of toys, food, cages, etc. - Store is really clean and bird cages always look well maintained and clean as well. However, I feel like the staff is the biggest turn off. An example from my most recent visit was the employee sitting behind the front desk, leaning back, eyes half open, ignoring me while I spent 15 minutes looking at birds as a potential buyer.
I then watched him handle a lovebird who flew off and landed on the ground in the play area they constructed for large birds, nearly stepping on it as he stumbled around looking for it. After a few similar experiences, I decided to move on and use another store further away.

If I could leave 'negative' stars for this merchant, I would. Their warranty on birds protects THEM - if and only if your bird DIES within 4 weeks AND you have a necropsy performed. My complaint, however, is not about their warranty, it's about their attitude after they take your money. World of Birds staff told me to take my little pearl cockatiel home when he was barely 9 weeks old.
I was surprised, but followed their direction, trusting that they knew their 'stuff'. Two weeks later, my bird was dying. He started to smell from an impacted crop (I learned this from the Vets), and was losing drastic amounts of weight. He went from 78 g to 50 g in a little over two weeks. He had just about everything wrong: impacted, enlarged, gassy crop; yeast; bacteria; elevated white cell count; kidneys failing; liver failing.
Only through the incredible efforts of a great Veterinary staff, and, apparently, a strong will to survive, is he finally becoming a 'normal bird'. I realize now that he was never 'right' from the onset. I truly wonder how they knew if he was eating properly, or when they knew that he was successfully eating seeds, since he was so young. Did I mention that the seeds came from the same store?
I did call and speak to Larry the day after the bird went into the Vet, and he insisted he had no issues with other birds. He told me that I should have brought the [dying] bird to his store and his Vet. The bird would not have survived the trip. I wanted to know if he had followed up with the breeder, in case there was info to help my Vet. My real complaint about the store and Larry is that he/they would NEVER call me back, except for the one and only time he called me back after his store was CLOSED FOR THE DAY.
I saved that message ("You can't call me back because we're closed"). Other than that, my other two calls were never returned. I don't think I nagged them. If you buy a bird from World of Birds, and it's healthy, consider yourself lucky. Any issues - they will treat you and your pet as if you bought a pair of shoes that you didn't like, and simply ignore you.
We have to trust that these folks know what they're doing, since our pets can't talk. Three weeks of intense [Veterinary] care, and Larry never once called to ask how things were going. They can take their warranty that only protects them and. use it as cage liner. Don't trust them.

I had two birds before I smartened up and came here. One was bought on the cheap from a "breeder"--he died young--another from a reputable bird store and she died young. I finally came into World of Birds, was met with great advice, and finally ended up buying two birds. Who are both so calm, with such great personalities that I take them everywhere. If I could give Larry, Carolyn and crew 10 stars, I would. There is isn't a better place to go for all your bird's needs--and even your bird!

My husband and I purchased a 6 m old Hahn's Macaw in Oct. 2014 after losing our cherry head conure of 22 yrs. After his vet check, he started losing weight. I called the store and spoke to Carolyn. She assured me that he was just a baby and it took time for them to adjust. He continued to lose weight and developed neurological problems. After numerous vet visits and tests for everything possible, he kept declining.
I emailed and called the store with no reaponse. Unfortunately, he had to be euthanized. It was crushing. I called the store again and asked for the owner, left my number. Again no response. We believe this little guy was sick from the beginning and they played on our recent loss to make a sale. Be wary of purchasing your pet bird from this store.
