Clays Mill Veterinary Clinic is one of the few American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accredited facilities in Kentucky. To be AAHA certified we must have our hospital meet the most rigorous published standards of care in the veterinary industry. Our hospital has been evaluated on over 900 specific points, including everything from radiology and surgery to medical record keeping, pharmacy, and boarding. In order to maintain certification by AAHA, every three years our hospital is inspected and reevaluated.

Some animals, who for different reasons don't quite seem to fit in anywhere else, end up being part of our clinic family. Some of them have been taken home to live with one of us, some of them live in the clinic permanently. Such is the exciting life as a veterinarian in Lexington, KY! You may see some of them when you come in.
The cornerstone of the veterinary visit is the exam. Unfortunately, our pets can't tell us when they are feeling uncomfortable or in pain. The "tip to toe" exam by the doctor will help uncover hidden causes of discomfort or signs of illness that may have gone unnoticed. When your pet presents for his annual or semiannual health check in our Lexington, KY clinic, he be will given a complete examination by the veterinarian. Distant observation: You may not notice, but when the doctor first comes into the room and talks to you, he is also observing your pet.
We offer traditional radiographs on site and ultrasounds by appointment to help diagnose your pet quickly and safely. While any veterinary clinic can purchase an ultrasound machine, our ultrasounds are performed and read by one of the only board certified radiologists in Kentucky. The last time you went to the doctor, how long did you wait for your blood work results?
We know the thought of surgery can be scary. At Clays Mill Vet Clinic we make every preparation to make sure you and your pet are as comfortable as possible. Every pet gets a complete exam on the day of surgery. A complete pre-anesthetic blood panel is performed to check organ function and electrolyte status.

I honestly cannot say enough good things about this place. They have taken care of all of my animals over the past 10 years and have been simply amazing. Unfortunately we just had to put down our 15-year-old beagle last Saturday and the staff and doctor just went above and beyond to Make this horrible experience as comfortable as possible. Their staff even stayed late on Saturday so we could spend more time with Jackson after they had administered the solution.
We never felt rushed and it was just as good as it could have possibly been. I will never take any animal I ever own anywhere other than this place the staff and doctors here are simply phenomenal. You could tell they truly care about you and your pets.

I took my 14.5 yr old Pharaoh Hound for a follow-up visit with Dr. Blair after a nightmare encounter with a big box chain vet clinic in Brannon Crossing ($450 bill and pressure to put him down). Not only was Dr. Blair able to give me the real cause of my dog's previous episode but also advised me my dog didn't need medication based on the very labs used by the previous vet clinic!
He also gave me a helpful intervention to help address my dog's nighttime roaming. Despite being a geriatric Pharaoh Hound, my dog remains active for his age, healthy, and happy. I am grateful to have found Dr. Blair who I know will support me in maintaining my dog's health based on his unique medical needs. If I had stayed with the big box chain vet clinic the outcome for my dog would have been substandard care driven by profit.

I want to commend Clay's Mill Veterinary Clinic for the kindness and compassion they showed me on a very difficult day. They took the time to explain what was going on with my sweet boy and helped me do what needed to be done. God bless this staff who so obviously love the animals that they care for. We will continue to come to this clinic for my other fur babies.

I've had my corgi, Dani since she was re-homed to me about 6 or 7 years ago. I believe I've been taking her to Clay's Mill Vet Clinic for about a year and a half. The staff at CMVC always seem so busy, but that doesn't stop them from going above and beyond to care for their patients. She has a tear duct that doesn't produce tears. It's painful, and frustratingly persistant.
She also struggles with itchy hives caused by grass allergies. I'm lucky that I have them to help take care of my girl. I work with animals myself and I wouldn't trust her to just anyone. Dr. Blair and Dr. Frabel are both fantastic doctors. Dani is a sweet lady-corgi with manners, so I appreciate that they've always been very gentle with her. She gets a thorough exam everytime she comes to see them.
You can tell that everyone there really cares about the animals. Dani still doesn't like going to the vet, but she always gives kisses when she's done. That makes me think she trusts them too.
