We are excited to announce that one masked client may now join your pet inside when they come for an exam with a doctor. We are happy to continue providing curbside appointments for clients who would prefer to remain in their car during their pet's appointment. Due to a limited number of exam rooms, we will continue with our curbside protocol for all nurse appointments, such as nail trims, anal gland expressions, laser therapy sessions, vaccine boosters, and surgery drop-offs.For all appointments, we still ask that you text the clinic upon your arrival to check-in for your appointment.

Services
Brandt Veterinary Clinic is proud to serve the Nokomis FL area for everything pet related. Our veterinary clinic is run by Dr. Erin Cantwell and her associate Dr. Haylie Hendershot, who are licensed, experienced Nokomis veterinarians. Our services include preventive care, medical diagnostics, dentistry, surgical care, laboratory services, digital radiology, boarding, and bathing.
Because of our veterinarian's special skills, we focus solely on care for DOGS and CATS. This gives us the ability to concentrate on providing the best care for your best friends! Our pets age 7 to 11 times faster than we do, and they can't tell you what's changing or hurting. Because of this, we stress the importance of twice-yearly physical examinations.
We love our vet and so do our girls. In fact one of our girls Ruby had an appointment last week and her sister Opal insisted on going with. The girls aren't nervous at all because the staff is really great with them. I highly recommend Brandt Veterinarian Hospital. I love the personal care my cat and I receive, like the separate cat interest, my cat's name on the board welcoming patients for the day and the no fear treatment by the staff! We finally found the best Veterinary Clinic for our kids after two years!
There is no question too big or too small. If you need anything at all for your pet, please use the information below to contact us immediately. We work hard to make Brandt Veterinary Clinic the best place for people to bring their pets and the best place to work!. We believe in treating every patient as if they were our own pet and giving them the same loving attention and care. We are a group of highly trained, experienced animal lovers who are devoted to giving our patients the best care possible.

We are snowbirds with a new 11 month old pup. I wanted to establish a vet in Florida just to be on the safe side. I chose Brandt because of the reviews and the fact it is very close to my home. The staff were very helpful in trying to get records from up north but I wound up hand delivering them. The day of the exam I arrived and was allowed in right away.
The front desk staff were very friendly and welcomed her with a cookies and some love pats. The vet Tech was very helpful in trying to clear up some vax issues. I did not wait more than a few minutes and Dr came right in and got on the floor to play with my pup. She spent a lot of time answering my questions and did a through exam. I have to say I am very impressed having come from the insanity of NJ where most of the vets are overwhelmed with the amount of dogs in need of care due to the adoptions during the Pandemic. So I can say I am very happy I chose Brandt and would recommend them in a heartbeat.

Was quite pleased with the office visit for my cat. My cat doesn't like strangers and has not been to the vet in 18 years due to a very traumatic experience. I felt they really took their time and let her walk around exam room and she was able to calm down before they addressed the issue. I didn't feel rushed and they only did as much as the cat would allow. We have to go back for a 2nd visit but I'm not stressing over it because I really liked their approach. Would highly recommend.

Can't speak highly enough of Dr. Cantwell and her feline knowledge. Having a senior cat is a challenge and she has been very thorough, educational, caring and treats my cat like it's her own. Vet Tech Ashley who loves 'spicy kitties' is amazing with mine and I am relieved if she is there during our visits. When your vet calls you to check on not only your pet but you as well, that speaks volumes to the care they provide.

We were very fortunate to have our beloved elderly chocolate Lab cared for by the fine staff at Brandt Veterinary Clinic. We always felt they provided the best care for our dog, yet never pressuring us to pay for unnecessary treatments. Our primary Vet Dr. Hendershot, a true animal lover, is a very caring and compassionate Vet who always took great care of our dog. She also did a wonderful job coaching us through his final years. A very professional, well run, caring Veterinary Clinic.

Both doctors are amazing! All of the staff is amazing. They are so patient with everything and take their time to make sure the pet is happy all the time. This makes such a difference especially when you have a pet who is a worry wart.they give him the little extra TLC he needs to ensure every visit he leaves happier than ever! These are my three babies and I will always choose brandt!

This place charged my husband and I $1500 dollars and were still unable to diagnose my dog. I took her to another vet and they did basically the same exact thing and charged us $350. I guess if you have money to blow go ahead and waste it here. As for me, I have three kids and it's a pandemic and here I am struggling to pay bills while these thieves charged us $1500 and couldn't diagnose my dog.
Money down the drain but a lesson learned, and now I have the ability to warn any friends of highway robbery. And don't even try getting records emailed or faxed. We spent 3 hours battling on the phone with the receptionist trying to get our dogs lab work emailed to a different vet. When we questioned them they questioned us on why we would want a second opinion when things weren't adding up.

I've used Brandt for about 3 yrs. I used to kennel my service dog until they told me he barks all the time. He's been trained not to bark so I'm not sure why. I stopped kenneling him there. He got shots, toenail trims and regular comprehensive exams with no issues ever discussed. I was told he was healthy. Last week I took him in for a limp.
They said it was arthritis. On the way home in the car he cried and wouldn't put his paw down. I took him back the next day. They did an X-ray and still insisted it was arthritis and gave us pain killers. After 4 days he was putting his foot down but still limping. I took him to the Island Hospital and before they did an X-ray to confirm, found bone cancer in his shoulder.
It was spreading so any measures taken wouldn't have give him more than a few months to live. I chose not to watch him suffer so he was put to sleep. I feel betrayed and cheated out of my best friend and $700 spent needlessly. If it doesn't feel right, walk out of there.

You will not find a better veterinary service in this area! From the front desk personnel to the techs and doctors, these are the MOST caring and friendly people ever. They do everything possible to make your pet feel comfortable and cared for, including bandanas sprayed with calming pheromones (which really do work!). We feel so fortunate to have found Brandt Veterinary Clinic and Dr. Hendershot.

Clean, comfortable and full of kind people handing out treats to my very nervous dog. They took their time with us, and went the extra mile to make my big little guy calm and secure. Extra bonus points for the soft calming music, the pheromone spray bandana, the literature, and leaving us in the exam room instead of the waiting area. I have never experienced a vet visit like this before, and am so glad to be here now!

Best Veterinary Clinic ever! I drive all the way from BRADENTON, because my cat Tsuki deserves THE BEST care. This clinic prides in being cat friendly, which is something we highly appreciate. The technicians even wait with Tsuki in the exam room while I check out, so she's not frighten by any doggies that are in the waiting area. The experiences at Brandt are genuine and educated, finally a veterinary clinic I love & trust! on a side note, check out Dr. Cantwell's manicure are always on point, just sayin'

This place is okay, but not very open to opinions. It is very clean and a comfortable environment. however, just a warning, yes, they are paid by purina, science diet, royal canin to promote their food so that is the biased part (all have wheat and grain; if it aint a special formula every cat I have had the food doesn't go down well, and tastes disgusting).
They told me a brand without corn and grains is not as good as the brands they are promoting that has them. these foods are not as good as they say (and many other practices are bribed, too). your best bet is homemade (with all essentials!) or small brands like orijen, opaw, rad cat, primal, natures variety, etc (unless advised against because of specific health issues).
They are super, really pushy on vaccines on well and not up to par with current AVMA reccomendations. They tried to charge $475 for a titer despite it being $150 everywhere else.
