Services
K-9 Kamp is a "doggie day care" center located on Old Bridge Street in East Syracuse, NY and Downer Street Rd, in Baldwinsville, NY. We provide Dog Day Care, Dog Boarding, Dog Grooming, Dog Training, and Self-Service Dog Wash services for your pets in and around the Syracuse area. Our goal is to provide a stimulating environment for your pets while keeping safety in mind. Our lobby uses a triple-door system to prevent escapes, and our open layout ensures your pets can be viewed by our trained staff at all times.
We can't always take our dogs to work, restaurants, or on vacation, so they end up staying home for hours on end. They are bored, frustrated, anxious, and may even get into mischief while you are away. A brief midday walk is nice, but it's no substitute for hours of real exercise and playtime. So what should you do?
In order for your dog to be boarded with us at K-9 Kamp, he/she must currently be enrolled in daycare and has attended daycare at least 4-5 times. Also, in order to stay eligible for boarding, your dog must attend daycare at least 2 times per month. This is because we would like the dogs to stay acclimated with our Pack and also our Pack Leaders.
We supply aprons for you, but you'll still get a little wet - so wear appropriate clothes. Exercise your dog before coming in. A nice long walk or a good game of fetch will release some energy and make bathing easier. To ensure a CALM, CLEAN, FUN and SAFE environment for you and your pets, we ask that you follow these simple rules!

I love the fact I can take my dog here to an actual dog washing area. They provide shampoo, conditioner, ear wash, towels and the doggy dryer. The price is very reasonable to use this facility. I can leave the entire mess there and come home with a clean dog. Staff are very friendly and willing to answer any questions.

Our rescue dog, Sunny, is 5 months old and CRAZY full of energy due to her genetics (beagle, coonhound, lab and weimaraner!) She struggles with separation anxiety and some pre-adoption PTSD. She loves K9 Kamp doggy daycare, and we watch her all day on the live feed they have! She's truly turning into a different dog; more confident, social, and happy. Thanks!

I can't say enough good things about Chad and his staff at K9 Kamp. We've had 2 dogs attend day care there. Both dogs have benefitted by the socialization they receive with other dogs and people. We have a pandemic puppy, and it's been hard to socialize him. They've filled that gap very well. I know our dogs are safe and happy there. Bonus is that they're tired after a full day!

We have a 10-year-old Black Lab who sometimes can be nervous. We had not been to this facility before, called them up, had an interview (mandatory, which is wise), and took our dog for 1/2 day of daycare. He did great, and the staff said they couldn't believe he was 10, because he acted more like he was 4! They said he's welcome back anytime. We then brought him for an overnight when we had to be out of town, and the staff couldn't have been better! I recommend this place highly! They are fantastic!

Very clean, attentive to each dog. Such a great place to drop off your dog for a play day. The employees knew my dog's name in on her second visit. She comes home happy, healthy and ready to settle down for the night. I can't say enough about feeling at ease when my dog is at K-9 Kamp. I love the ability of being able to view her on their video camera as well.
The overnight stay is great as well as they can play with other dogs throughout the day instead of being locked up in a kennel. Nice job K-9 Kamp! You are highly recommended.

I have nothing but good things to say about K9 Kamp! Our dog, Nellie, has been going to daycare for several months and always comes home tired out and happy. The facility is well run and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. There are indoor and outdoor play areas and toys and even cots and couches for the dogs to nap on. They are open early and close late and are even open on Saturday, very convenient for owners with busy schedules. I would recommend it to anyone who has a friendly dog with lots of energy!

We choose this spot for daycare as well as boarding when we're heading on a trip that the dog cannot come on. The staff is fantastic and remember every dog, it seems. Great service. Highly recommended. And if you need a quick break from your day and something that'll make you laugh, check out the cameras on the website to see how much fun everyone is having.

A few months ago, we adopted an 18 month old German Shepherd. In order to keep him socialized, stimulated, and exercised, our behavior trainer recommended K-9 Kamp dog daycare because she knows the owner. I was pretty skeptical about paying nearly $30 a day but I am converted. The gift of a tired puppy at the end of a long work day is absolutely worth it.
Before you can be accepted, you need to come in and meet a staff member, and then you need to bring your dog a few times. After your dog is an accepted member of "the pack" (lol), you can just drop them off whenever you need daycare. no calling in advance necessary! The first couple times, my dog got anxious and a little nippy, so they were able to isolate him away from the other dogs so no one would get hurt or stressed. I'm pretty satisfied that they keep a close eye on everyone based on the feedback they provide about my dog and the number of staff they have working.
They also offer boarding but only to dogs that are already attending daycare. I know several other people that bring their dogs here and I have had and heard nothing but good things. There is also a webcam so you can check in periodically during the day, but watch out because it is addictive. sort of like a doggie koi pond. Definitely give them a shot!

My dog started daycare here back in 2015, when she was about 8 or 9 months old maybe. Depending on the week she would go 1 to 3 times, and I boarded her twice. We moved out of Syracuse last month, but I wanted to go ahead and leave a review of their unparalleled service for the past 3 years. Approximately 98% of the time when I picked up my dog she was healthy and happy and just loved being there.
The other 2% of the time were situations that sometimes can't be helped. Once, she got sick and started throwing up bile with some blood in it (due to something she ate at home). But K-9 Kamp staff called me immediately and directed me to the emergency vet up the street! The other time I can remember her not being happy when I picked her up was a time she was playing with another dog and the dog's teeth got caught in her collar, and caused what looked like a rugburn on her neck.
After that incident, we removed her collar before letting her in the back and everything was fine. There have been a couple times when I had family emergencies and had to drop her off last minute for boarding - they've always been so accommodating. My dog loves literally EVERYONE who works there, and I know they loved her too! Which is why I loved taking her there. Honestly it's probably one of the things I'll miss most about Syracuse.
As always, to each their own and K-9 Kamp may not be the best fit for everyone. But if you're looking for a great place for your dog to socialize and play, definitely consider K-9 Kamp! You won't regret it.

If you want your dog to be safe, I would suggest you send your dog to a different daycare. We sent our very social lab mix puppy here for regular daycare for 6 months to a year in 2014-2015. A few months into going there she started cowering when we tried to toss something to her which she had never done before which I thought was strange/concerning. K9 Kamp said that this was because they threw a ball around at daycare and she may have been hit in the head during play.
Then one day we got a call that she had been bit and we needed to come get her. She was bit on the upper part of her back so deeply that she needed sutures. I asked what happened and learned that she was outside with other dogs with no employee outside watching, and when they brought the dogs in they noticed she was bleeding. I was upset and asked if they knew which dog had bitten her because I did not want to send her back if it could happen again.
They said they did not know. Apparently the cameras were not working that day and they could not identify which dog had done it. They seemed bothered by my questions and took no responsibility for what happened. They also seemed uninterested in learning which dog had bit my dog which I found appalling as this dog could potentially injure other dogs at the daycare as well and should have been kicked out.
Bottom line: K9 Kamp is more concerned with attracting a large volume of dogs (I presume for financial purposes) and does not have the staffing/space to support the numbers they accept. There is not proper and safe supervision of dogs and management's response to safety issues is disinterested and in my opinion completely inadequate. I have since heard from others who sent their dogs here (more recently than us) who also experienced problems with the daycare (recurrent illness and a lack of response from management to health concerns and to prevent spread of illness).
I took my dog out of K9 Kamp and sent her to the Barking Orange. She has had only positive experiences at the Barking Orange. There are no more cowering instances and the daycare caps the number of dogs each day to a safe number to make sure the dogs are appropriately supervised. In addition, the owners are very responsive to any concern you have and have brought things to my attention (even little things) on a number of occasions which shows me that they are keeping a watchful eye on my dog. She is happy and tired out each day and I don't have to worry about her safety. Side note: Canine Clubhouse is also great.

If I could give zero stars I would. My dog was going here for a few weeks until, as punishment, they left him in a kennel for THE ENTIRE DAY. This was with explicit instructions that my dog was never to be placed in a kennel, at all, due to separation anxiety. When I picked up my dog his mouth and paws were covered in drool, and staff attempted to lie about the situation, until it was confirmed by other staff what had occurred.
So the staff lie, aren't really that friendly, the place is over-crowded with dogs, and in my case - showed no concern for the well being of my dog. If that is essential to you - then don't take your dog here. I am not one to really write negative reviews, but when it is personal, it's something I can't ignore doing.

K9 Kamp is simply the best. My dog loves going there. He gets a ton of exercise which he loves and gets to socialize with other dogs which he also loves. Dogs that attend day care can also be boarded there if the need arises. My dog is always happy to see me when he is boarded but it's clear he had a great time while I was away. They have dog bathing facilities there so you can wreck their place instead of yours. The staff is awesome, all knowledgeable and friendly. I don't know what I would do without this great facility.

Owner Chad T. is a hands on guy-knows all the dogs well and is a great communicator/educator about dogs. Very friendly place- all staff know the dogs and any special needs they may have. Prices are better than competitive. Staff don't just observe, they interact and make sure our dogs are as active as we like, and are there to slow things down when dogs get over stimulated.
The play room is large with lots of comfy places to chill. There's even a live daycare cam! Lots of great toys, food, leashes and products in front lobby. Grooming is available, so are boarding services. They even have a self serve dog wash w/everything you need. Our two boys go 1-2 times each week for several years now. I trust them with my dogs- not something I say lightly. I highly recommend them(and have to many friends!)to anyone with a dog.
