Dottie Zaris, CPDT-KA, CBC is a Canine Behavior Specialist and Professional Dog Trainer, nationally certified by the Association of Companion Animal Behavior Counselors and the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers. She is also an American Kennel Club Canine Good Citizen and Star Puppy evaluator.
These sessions are customized just for you and your dog, from puppy to adulthood, from basic to advanced. Tailored specifically to the needs of the family, our private sessions are held either in our facility or your home. In addition to the basic obedience cues, the counselor can advise the owner on problem behaviors specific to their dog.
The first session is a private session in our training room followed by 4 consecutive weeks in a group class. In the first private session we cover the foundation behaviors that we build on during each subsequent week. The private session builds your skills and your dog gets a chance to train in the room without distractions.
For the dog who is already proficient in basic skills, this program focuses on fine tuning and making your dog more reliable at a distance and with distractions. These include: further improving leash walking skills; proofing stay and wait in much more distracting environments; coming when called with other dogs moving around; greeting people or a dog politely.

I began training classes with Canine Coaching when my now 3 year old Golden Retriever was 5 months old. Although I am an experienced dog owner, I was having trouble understanding what my puppy wanted and needed. "Old school" training methodologies rooted in simple obedience recommended by previous dog trainers were backfiring and I needed help. My veterinarian recommended that I call Dottie.

From our first training session, Dottie and Vinny were amazing. They worked to understand each of my dog's behaviors and tried different strategies until we found the right fit. They work to make training classes engaging, fun, and individualized. They truly care about understanding and helping every dog. We continued to do six additional training classes with Canine Coaching, including the therapy dog class.

When I take my dog out to the park, restaurant or in town, I always receive compliments on how well behaved she is. I credit this to Dottie and Vinny. When I adopted a second dog, I immediately called Dottie for help and advice to make this transition go as smoothly for both dogs as possible. The advice I received was wonderful and took each dog's needs into consideration. Both dogs get along well and the newest dog is enjoying his training classes at Canine Coaching. I recommend Canine Coaching to every dog owner I meet!

I met with Dottie for my dog that was having issues with aggression. The consultation cost 150 dollars. She instructed me to email her with any questions and to schedule our next session. I emailed her after the consult several times to schedule a next session and let her know some of the training exercises she suggested were not working. I never received a response from anyone. Really unprofessional to take a clients money and then never follow up with them. I would recommend going somewhere else.

Dottie and her team have helped my several of my dogs become good citizens. And some haven't been so easy! I would recommend her to everyone who needs training c(and their dogs, too!)

My pup was enrolled in their Basic Manners and i can say that its a fun class! Unlike some other school we have attended which makes you do same thing over and over again no variations, canine coaching do different drills in the classroom and they also give you exercises to do at home. Plus, the trainers are great.

We had a chihuahua that was very aggressive with strangers. When our son was born, Dottie helped introduce our baby to the new baby and turned a scary situation into a great situation. After working with our dog he grew to love our son like he loved us despite being a stranger at first.

Very relieved to be referred to Dottie through my Vet's office for my reactive rescue pup. She's given me hope with my new dog who is fearful and aggressive toward strangers who enter my house. Dottie has a natural warmth toward my dog (and toward me!) and was able to create a connection on our first private consultation. Feel confident in her capacity, she's respectful and straight forward.

Dottie trains us well. She's not there to stroke your ego, she trains you so your dog will be the best it can be. I refer everyone to Canine Coaching.

Dotty, and her assistant Vinnie, are terrific trainers, and have a sophisticated knowledge of positive reinforcement dog training. Most importantly to me they use all positive reinforcement methods. No old school force based training. We have enjoyed every class that we have taken at Canine Coaching and my new dogs have improved immensely from the puppy classes to the fungility class.

They make the classes fun and are very skilled at coaching people to coach their dogs. This is also a great place to do distraction training work. Canine coaching is also very convenient to get too. I recommend them highly. So love the name too!

Dottie is amazing! We just completed our fourth private session with our new rescue, and I can't say enough about how wonderful this experience has been. Dottie's methods have helped our reactive doggie make a complete turnaround. She has helped modify my dog's behaviors and also how I react and interact with her. Dottie has built our confidence level to a point where we feel comfortable with our dog in new situations and experiences. We plan on joining group classes as well. I literally cannot say enough about this experience!

We recently adopted another pup and we had some relationship issues between the resident pup and the new guy. The private lesson really gave us insight into how to help their relationship grow into friendship. In addition, the puppy kindergarden class is a great way to slowly and comfortably socialize your dog and provided us with great tips on how to begin to introduce basic obedience to our puppy. We look forward to working more with Canine Coaching! Highly recommended!

Dorothy Zaris and Patricia Coglianese are both certified as Canine Behavior Counselors and provide in-house private lessons or in -classroom training (along with other dogs for socialization). We started out with the private classes and are grateful we did. Dottie spent extra time with our puppy and gave us helpful hints to address areas of concern that we had. Going to class is a great way to socialize your dog as well the long term rewards being immense. Pat and Dottie know there stuff and I highly recommend Canine Coaching to anyone who is seeking to bring out the best in their pooch.
