The staff was so friendly and comforting. This was our first vet visit with our new puppy and they made us and our pup feel safe and taken care of. I appreciated that all care decisions were explained fully so we could make informed decisions about the best options for our family

I have yet to have an appointment with this clinic, but just trying to get in has been a hassle. A few months ago my cat was having coughing episodes. Not enough to warrant the emergency vet (called them first), so I wanted to get a check up. I called, left a message, and never got a call back. A few weeks after that, though, I get an email thanking me for being a valued client?

Today I call trying to get my cat in because he's been sneezing a lot. They're booked a few weeks out, which I get, and I was told to bring him to his usual vet. I reply I don't have one, this would be the normal vet as I'm down the block. Then told to bring him to urgent care. When I ask where to go because I don't have a car, I was told ubers allow animals. This isn't answer my question of where to go. I get put on hold without being told I would be, so I just hung up and did the google search myself.

Took my cat to her vet appointment 5-20-2022 and I must say she did phenomenal. I was expecting the worse because as most people who know my cat, know she can be a bit to handle with her attitude. Vet Tech Marci and Dr. Libman took very good care of my fur baby. Made me feel so good about my cat. Gave me some insights of what to look for if there's anything unusual with Gigi. I would recommended that place if you need somewhere to go. Thank you guys so much.

I really like Melrose Animal Clinic. I think some of the more negative reviews on here are simply down to personality preferences; when I first started bringing my cats in to them, we saw Dr. Silverman and I didn't really click with him. He is obviously a skilled vet, but just not for me. Once we started seeing Dr. Surgan, it was a totally different experience and I am thrilled with the care my cats have received.

I tend to adopt middle-aged or senior cats, so they come with a host of health issues that have to be addressed. I've found Dr. Surgan to be responsive, empathetic, and frank about expectations, cost, and what options are open. Every vet tech and front desk team member I've interacted with have all been friendly and easy to chat with when they are doing intake or doing bloodwork, etc. The prices are fair for the area and inline with what I was accustomed to paying in Boston.

We highly recommend working with Melrose Animal Clinic, they have taken care of our family pet since our move to Melrose in 2012, all the way through until the end with him. The doctors and staff are extremely kind and you can tell they are all lovers of animals and care deeply for their patients and the families they belong to.

Everyone that I have interacted with at this clinic has been wonderful. They are very patient and accommodating especially when scheduling appointments and answering questions. Dr. Surgan has been treating my elderly, fussy cats for several years, and she has met their approval! =^.^= I can not say enough good things about this welcoming place or the caring and compassionate people who work here.

DON'T BOTHER GETTING ANYTHING AS SIMPLE AS A CHECK UP HERE, THEY CHECK OFF ALL THE BOXES AS "NORMAL" EVEN WHEN THEY ARE NOT, THEY CHARGE YOU $500 AND SEND YOU HOME WITH A SICK PET. i've been a long time customer for years now and have entrusted to have both of my cats coming here. my older cat was feeling unwell yesterday and i brought him in which felt like a complete waste of time. their aggression with my kitty and their lack of concern that my cat was foaming at the mouth really showed me what kind of people they have working at this vet clinic. i was referred to an emergency hospital where we were treated MUCH better than Dr Surgan and her tech assistant who failed to mention that my kitty was getting WORSE in their care.

I asked for her to call me back to discuss my concerns and her lack thereof and the tech assistant refused to relay the message. i will be filing an official complaint with the department of professional licensure via mass gov because these reviews are concerning. these are peoples pets, and income that you are messing around with and it is quite pathetic. do better or pick a different profession. you guys are disgusting.

Mean office manager and nasty people at the front desk, how dare you ask any questions. They get angry and curt if you ask for anything. It's like the Mafia of Dog clinics. I was told not come there again because I needed help and asked questions. I will contact channel 7 and see how they feel about it. If you read other reviews I am not the only one saying this! When you have no patients left you will see!

I have been going there for many years. They all loved my late dog Max and adore my puppy, Zula and my two cats, Daphne and Peanut. I cannot say enough good things about their care for my babies.

They have been nothing but amazing to me and my pets throughout the years. The routine visits are always quick and the doctors, techs, and receptionist are helpful and friendly. I called about my cat seemingly in pain, and the emergency vets wouldn't take him without a referral because he wasn't "critical". MAC saw him same day and took a look at his mouth.

I think we all were expecting him to have a dental issue. But the doctor suspected a fractured jaw and told us to call the e-vet again and tell them our normal vet says he needs to be seen today. After x-rays at the ER it was confirmed he'll need surgery for a fractured jaw. Even with how slammed their clinic was today, they took Shadow in, assessed him quickly and treated me kindly because I was worried about my kitty. Always a great experience even when I'm dealing with a hurt pet. Thank you guys as always!

Long story short, my 2 years old dog just passed away of kidney failure. And we only found out at the emergency hospital with not much to do. Mind you, she was always at the vet with a concern. They will always say "shes doing fine, but she is underweight". Well I believed them. But she was giving sings of it like(vomiting, loss of appetite.)all along and they couldn't diagnose her. Plus, they don't really care about your pet as much as you think.

At least that's what I experienced. I called with concerns at times and they will never make an effort to book an appointment and see (honey). One of the last times I called them a guy picked up and I was of course concerned about honey vomiting again and all, telling him she should be seen. And he says "she's just vomiting, we don't have time, I will put you on the waiting list".

Mind you, he wasn't letting me finish, honey wasn't just vomiting. I will say the last time I called, a women picked up and she was very kind and referred me to the emergency hospital. After all, they failed to diagnose honey for two whole years. Yes, according to the emergency hospital's doctor, she always had it. I don't recommend going here.

Exceptional, kind, caring doctors and staff. We have been bringing our 3 cats here for 5 years. They have always been thorough & thoughtful in diagnosing & providing treatment for our pets, especially when we adopted a cat with diabetes. Our family greatly appreciates their team's dedication to still provide excellent care for our pets during COVID, we were thankful for their adaptability to switch to curbside appointments to keep their staff safe. We wholeheartedly recommend Melrose Animal Clinic!

Not impressed with the attitude of each person I've interacted with on the phone. Incredibly dismissive and rude. I called with a question about my sick puppy and was given no sympathy whatsoever. We were told very flatly to take our puppy to the ER elsewhere and each question was met with annoyance. I was told they had no appointments, even for an emergency.

I even called the first second it opened in the morning. I think it would be good practice to leave a slot throughout the day in case of emergencies. I was very bummed out because I was really looking forward to bringing our Frenchie to meet this vet, as we were told she loved Frenchie's. Today I called with another question and once again was met with a dismissive annoyed attitude.

Each time I get off the phone with these people I have an icky feeling. Peoples animals are their children and it can be overwhelming to have a new little one to take care for. The vet should be an assuring comfort. We will definitely be finding another vet to take our puppy to moving forward.

I have been taking our dog to MAC for the past 4 years (every since she was a puppy), and could not be more pleased. Everyone, from the admins, to the receptionists, to the vet techs, to the vets themselves are simply amazing. Professional, kind, courteous, compassionate, thorough, I could go on and on. It's evident everyone truly cares about every animal that comes in the doors. I've been so impressed with their protocols since COVID-19 happened.they haven't missed a beat. Thank you MAC for everything!

The melrose animal clinic is a great vet! We had some bad experiences prior to finding them, and this was the best place we've been to. They really take their time with your pet and give you plenty of time for questions and to go over your concerns, unlike other vets. They really care about the pets that go there and personally, I love that they listen to my every question about my dog's procedures, medications, etc. Staff is always doing everything they can to help as well, they are all so kind. We couldn't be happier!

I took my cat here for the 1st time and she is doing better already. The staff was very helpful and took care of her immediately. I especially liked that I didn't end up with any over inflated bill and the staff was honest and let me know the cost upfront. We will definitely be back! Lisa R.

My two Pekingese have been going to MAC since I moved to Boston in 2012. As they are now both 10 years old, we've been to MAC for many reasons. From eye injury's (darn flat faces!) anxiety concerns, gastro concerns, flea issues, ringworm scares, dental surgery, annual visits and my least favorite reason, cancer (MCT). Life can get busy and scary and I'm so glad we found a veterinary practice with multiple DVM's who are personable, understanding and give you options for next step care. I've never felt pressured to get procedures done and I've never felt I didn't understand why something had to be done.

In the last decade, there's only been a couple of times they couldn't squeeze us in but they worked closely for follow up care when I had to resort to the emergency room. Yes, vet visits can get expensive and while sometimes I have seen the bill and was shocked at first, I think it's fair to remember the costs to keep a practice open and keep a good accreditation (something that matters to me).

We moved a bit farther away this year but that won't sway us from staying with MAC because it's hard to find a good vet practice with friendly and knowledgeable front desk staff and vet techs too!

I have been going here for 8 years. The staff is great, the love Max and Peanut the most established. Every doctor is top notch. The communication is second to none. Max has had 2 dent cleanings and a mast cell tumor removed and several aspirations. Peanut gets a twice yearly potty patch done(Turkish angora). Daphne likes it there also. My once ago cats saw them a little. Droopy had to be euthanized due to mouth cancer. TIGGER WAS JUST 18YO so it was just her time. They both received considerate comforting care. Picture below just for attention.

I needed a new vet for my Westie and was referred here by a neighbor. I have to tell you that scheduling the appointment, the demeanor of the phone representative and the customer service by the Vet tech and the Vet were all a great experience. Granted this is in the middle of the pandemic but Melrose Animal Clinic went above and beyond to make this as safe, yet personal, experience given the circumstances.

I brought my kitten Holly here after going through 2 very good but not personable vet clinics in North Chelmsford where i reside. Immediately i felt in good hands. Everything i had concerns about the technician listened and the vet called himself to check in. I just had her spay there and i was very worried about her going into surgery. Marci and Allison and Linda the office manager all were so comforting. Marci was so compassionate and seemed to know exactly what to say to ease my nerves.

The recovery from surgery, awesome. Holly bounced right back and was eating right away that night. They use laser instead of scalpel and the stitches are inside. Extremely well performed and excellent services. I was concerned again about her temperature. They let me come right in, squeezed me in to see get within hours and both Holly and myself are really well. She is healing quicker than i could ever have imagined. They truly treat your pet as their own.

Update: Was appreciative of Ms. Eagan's offer to discuss my concerns, which she graciously listened to. She explained their perspective and apologized for any inconvenience or cause for concern. As someone who has worked in the vendor side of business for decades I know that no company - no system is 100% perfect. I truly believe that what differentiates companies, is how they respond to problems and resolve them. In this case, I'm grateful to have been heard and felt valued. Thanks and kudos.

My parents and grandparents have been going to this clinic for as long as I remember (I mean I remember as a kid bringing in a stuffed animal and they put a "cast" on his "broken leg") and a couple years ago now I brought my parents dog in while I was sitting for them. The tech looked at my name and asked "did you own a cat named smoochie?" I was shocked. Smoochie was my first kitty and had passed some years ago at this point.

The tech went off to say she was one of her favorite patients ever and still had a picture of her. This warmed my heart so much and despite it being a while ago it's something I still think about, Esp now that I work in the vet med world myself. So thank you Melrose vet clinic! And esp thank you to that tech! I don't remember your name but you're appreciated!

Horrible experience and the worst customer service. I've been bringing my pets here for awhile but can't deal with the rude front desk anymore. They only care about money and have no compassion for the animals. Overpriced and not worth it for the type of care you get!

We recently brought our dog here for concern about her stomach. They fit us in immediately even though we had never been there. Our dog is a shy rescue and all of the staff was amazing and patient with her timid behavior. They also have an amazing military/veteran discount.

On January 21, 2017 my pet was seen at Melrose Animal Clinic for his Lyme and Leptospirosis Vaccines. At check out, I was informed that the tech had negligently given the oral kennel vaccine via injection. We were told we had nothing to worry about. After talking to someone on the HomeAway emergency hotline about his symptoms, we were encourage to take our pet to the emergency clinic later that night.

Our bills totaled over $700 and he was put on multiple medications. MAC informed us that they would reimburse us for the bills, but it was a year long battle resolved only about a month ago (April 2018). I was told that I would only be reimbursed if I signed an agreement that stated that Melrose Animal Clinic was not responsible and released them from liability.

I refused. After much negotiation, we compromised on the rewording of the agreement and I was finally reimbursed more than a year later. I understand that mistakes are made, but my pet was given not only the wrong vaccine in general but also was administered it the wrong way. We do not know what long term effects this has caused our sweet pup. I urge you to not bring your pet here and avoid having to go through the nightmare our family did.

My family has brought all of its pets to Melrose Animal Clinic since I was child. They were a family-oriented, not-too-expensive animal hospital with great care and kind staff. We've put down two pets in years past and my family always felt the staff were honest and upfront. However, in recent years the owners have expanded and renovated the office.

The prices are now very high; certainly higher than the other hospitals in the area I've quoted for services. The veterinarians and technicians are also quick to push the treatments they recommend, and are very rigid, even condescending, when you ask for other options. The office also has a very commercial feel now. Even their hold music is trying to sell you extra stuff you don't need.

Give them a call - I'm sure they'll put on hold for a long time and you'll get to hear it. I can understand why people think they are getting great care as the staff are very confident, but in reality it is over-priced and more interested in getting back the money it spent on the renovation. I now bring my pets to another animal hospital and the care is of great quality.

Great place and they know my dog well. Clean, prompt service, so good with animals and their owners! I do appreciate knowing someone is just a phone call away who knows my dog and his special needs. Fair pricing for the area - there are far more expensive veterinarian's out there closeby. Thanks for all you do for Jerry and me MAC!

RESPONSIVE, CARING AND PROFESSIONAL TREATMENT FROM THE ENTIRE TEAM After suffering through lackluster service at another vet practice (also reviewed on Yelp), we recently switched to Melrose Animal Clinic and have been extremely impressed with the responsive, professional service we're getting from Dr. Shah, Bianca and the entire team. After waiting 3 days to see a vet at our prior clinic, we called Melrose and they were able to see our injured dog that night (yay for late hours!) We saw Dr. Shah who immediately diagnosed the severity of our dog's injury (full ACL tear), walked us through the surgery options and didn't balk when I asked for a cost breakdown.

She also spent 20 minutes with me explaining options for post-op physical therapy with referrals for *other* clinics (ie, swim therapy, etc.) In my 8 years as a dog owner, I've never spent that much time with a vet before! It's clear they care about their patients' care and schedule appointments with adequate time to consult on any issues.

Since ACL surgeries are fairly standardized procedures, I called a vet referral hospital and they quoted us $500 more than Melrose. In the end, Melrose billed us $500 less than their initial quote so we wound up saving approximately $1,000 having the procedure done at their practice. Our dog is recovering really well and we've been getting check-in calls from Bianca, the vet technician, with tips and coaching as we face another 2-4 weeks of limited activity for our dog. A BIG THANKS to the entire team at Melrose for helping us get through this and stay sane!

Took my female dog with swollen breast, they did X-rays and ultrasound with out letting me know how much $630 to diagnosed her pregnant two weeks after oops oh sorry she's not pregnant yet still paid for everything. All they care about is the money watch out
