Providing you and your pets with the best experience we can is our purpose. After more than fifteen years, we have encountered many unique situations, many wonderful people, and many more dogs and cats that will never leave our hearts. Through all of this, one thing has never changed: Your pet's health, happiness, and security while in our care is our primary concern and focus, above all else. We've learned that doesn't always mean the same thing for every guest, and have refined our skills at managing surprising elements that may arise while you are away.

Services
We believe in the positive benefits of a calm environment. Located on ten wooded, secluded acres, the peaceful natural surroundings create a soothing and refreshing environment for all of our guests to enjoy. To further supplement this, gentle music is played throughout our boarding area. Our facility is climate controlled year round, and each dog has a private, covered pavilion area, giving them the freedom to go outdoors rain or shine. A stable, predictable schedule goes a long way toward putting pets at ease.
Our cat room is a unique arrangement created just for them, completely separate from our canine areas. It even has its own ventilation system independent from the rest of the kennel, so dog scents and sounds will never cause our sensitive whiskered guests any consternation. While they relax in a quiet environment, they can enjoy the view through a large window looking outside, allowing them to supervise our garden and the busy local populations of birds, squirrels, lizards, and chipmunks. Each cat has a large open-air, multi-level snuggery to call their own during their stay, giving them plenty of space to jump, play, and nap, as well as room for a private litter box.
At your request, we will handle pickup and delivery to your home or designated meeting location in the area north of the perimeter, between 575/75 and 400. Only available by prior arrangement, and slots are limited, so make sure you request this service early! Each pickup and delivery is assigned to a specific day according to your travel plans.
Boarding dogs are each taken out into our play yard a minimum of four times a day for a break in routine, fresh air and to use the bathroom. One of their midday opportunities will be a full-length playtime, nature hike, or cuddle time. Canine guest lodging includes large private climate-controlled indoor rooms and attached extra-large private shaded outdoor patios.

We had a horrendous experience with this kennel. We were really careful and picky about the kennel we chose and this one looked good so we drove the extra distance and left our dog for a week. When we picked her up they said she hadn't eaten that day and had stomach issues. She came out sneezing really badly and had such bad diarrhea that she had to run to the edge of the parking lot immediately. Anyway, she had lost 6 pounds during her week's stay at Dogwoods, and kept getting sicker over the next day after picking her up. I'm not one to take dogs to emergency hospitals unless something is really really wrong, but she got so sick by the next night that she couldn't stand up, lift her head or even wag her tail, had a fever and was getting worse by the minute.
I don't think she would have made it through the night without medical attention. We rushed her to the emergency center 40 miles away. She wound up having hookworms, a bacterial infection, dehydration and a respiratory infection. $550 later we now have her on antibiotics, wormer and home cooked chicken and rice meals. We tried several times to contact the kennel by phone message and email with no response.
When a 50lb dog loses 6lbs in a week and comes out of a kennel with that many things wrong there's a serious problem and it's not with our dog.she's normally a super healthy, overly-energized 18 month old yellow lab with all vaccinations. I know they have good reviews, which is why we considered them in the first place; but they most definitely had to neglect our dog for her to get this sick.
And then to ignore our phone calls and emails.it's just the kind of nightmare situation you're worried about when you leave your dog somewhere so think twice about this place

Have used them over the years, always great groom and daycare as far as we know, kinda wonder now, our dog came home after basic bath Friday June 10th, next morning dry hard blood on top of spine, finally got hair pulled back to look, he didn't want us touching it, big piece of skin layed open with deep hole in body, went to Vet., said it was a dog bite or something really sharp.
He is only nine pounds and never out of our sight, retired and he's Velcro dog! When called to discuss, they were very defensive, hardly could get word in. I wasn't loud or rude, thought they'd want to know in case someone didn't tell them.i didn't expect to get back 212.00 vet bill back, it's the principal, like people send children to daycare and they can't speak for themselves. So disappointed, I wouldn't have written this if she hadn't been so defensive, that said it all for me, something hapened.

This place is great! They have spacious areas with half doors for the dogs. I was nervous about leaving my little 5 pound yorkie but she was fine. Very calm when I picked her up. The staff is friendly and cheerful. Also well organized business. Both my daughters drive from Woodstock to board their very large dogs and are very pleased. I highly recommend this place.

We have been taking our dog there for years. One of their former employees recommended them to us and we are SO glad we listened to her. These people are wonderful. Very friendly and helpful. Our lab Samantha always seems to enjoy her stay there. She has stayed in other kennels prior to here and always came back very nervous and jittery. At Dogwoods she always comes back calm and happy. I know she misses us but it seems like she enjoys her stay there. Beautiful location also.

We have boarded our lab here many times and are extremely pleased with the attention and the love they have shown her. We even like the way the space is set up to ensure less stress on the dogs. We love that she gets walked, treats, and a bath. The employees seem to go the extra mile and have been very accommodating, even when we were running late one evening to pick her up.

Dogwoods is a wonderful facility located in the foothills near Big Canoe and Bent Tree off of a semi-rural road; not on a busy main street, which always makes me nervous when considering a place to board my dogs. It is not a cage free facility and the kennels have privacy doors for the more nervous or excitable pups. I also like that the kennels are larger than many facilities offer and are not crates and not stacked; they also have access to an outside kennel section.
The owners live on the property which is added reassurance. Their daily rate includes meals (they feed Blue Buffalo), bedding and cots, and three potty breaks. They also can administer medication and routine flea and tick control. Playtimes or walks do cost a little more but my dogs love the extra time to get outside and walk the nature trails or chase a ball around.
My dogs always come home with plenty of energy and are always clean and happy. I'm always reluctant to part with my dogs but I am completely happy to leave them in the care of Dogwoods Boarding Kennel. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for an all around great boarding kennel to leave their animals.
