Whether you bring your pets to our vet clinic for wellness care, surgical services, pet grooming or boarding, pet dental care or other pet services we provide professional and loving care. The grieving process includes accepting the reality of your loss, accepting that the loss and accompanying feelings are painful, and adjusting to your new life that no longer includes your pet. How do I tell my family? Family members usually are already aware of a pet's problems. However, you should.
Hot, humid summer days could mean trouble for your pets if they become overheated. High temperatures and humidity levels increase your pet's risk of developing heatstroke, a potentially deadly condition. Heatstroke occurs when your pet's body temperature rises dangerously high. A temperature of 102.2 degrees or higher may mean that your pet is suffering from heatstroke, according to the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). Any mammal, human or animal, can develop heatstroke, including our furry friends.
One bite from a mosquito could put your pet's health in jeopardy if it's not protected against heartworm. Heartworms invade your pet's heart, lungs and blood vessels and can kill your pet or cause serious, lifelong health issues. Fortunately, medication available from your veterinarian can help your pet avoid heartworm.

Incredibly rude and dismissive receptionist. I've called multiple times for my pets records and so has my new vet, and she is too busy rushing people off the line to gather correct information. This office manger needs to check their front desk staff if they want to keep customers.

Delayed a procedure on our pet and than when my wife brought her in for a check up before surgery they prescribed an injection than 5 minutes later they tell my wife that the dog won't survive the procedure and we should think about putting her down. Than after we do call my wife demanding payment for shot that was a useless procedure. stay away if you love your pets as much as we do. Very unprofessional services!

We've been working with Acres Mill for the past year & a half when my cat Gizmo was ultimately diagnosed with kidney disease & a thyroid disorder. Dr Stewart has been compassionate yet realistic in her care of Gizmo. We've had some tough conversations along the way but she has taken the time to explain his conditions to me fully (even during Covid when it had to be exclusively over the phone) yet with concern & care.

She recognizes that we love our pets & they are part of our family. Their fees are also manageable & they've been upfront about all the costs involved in his care & I can't think of a single staff member who hasn't been thoughtful & pleasant with us & with Gizmo. Thank you!

Acres Mill has always been amazing with our animals! The staff are VERY knowledgeable, and they just always take really good care of us. They won't do surgeries unless it's absolutely necessary, and I love that. They care and want to make the right diagnosis and they seem to always do that! VERY PLEASED!

The staff at acres mill have always been amazing- front desk (Eva), docs (Dr. Stewart), Kelly for grooming, and Casey as our tech. They have taken care of our babies for over 8 years. Highly recommend them. They are very professional and love our pets as their own

Dr Michele Stewart and the staff at Acres Mill do a great job! We just went through a difficult week almost losing one of our huskies to HGE and after his emergency vet care and then continuing care at Acres Mill he pulled through! Dr Stewart called to follow up and see how he was doing and I really appreciated that. Then only 5 days later our other husky (12.5 years old) was deteriorating and we decided to put her to sleep. Dr Stewart and her staff were so kind and compassionate fully understanding what a difficult time it was for us. She and Dr Cooke both signed a handwritten note and Sympathy card and mailed it to us. I highly recommend Acres Mill Veterinary Clinic!

Listen to the reviews and don't waste your time. The staff is rude and they most definitely DO try to exhort more money out of you. Find a vet clinic that cares about the wellbeing of animals and not money.

I've been a client of Acres Mill for 3 years and have watched it steadily decline. We used to come here for boarding, which was discontinued. I came recently when my dog was ill and we had gotten our shots elsewhere when we had to board, but I forgot the records. The frizzy haired brunette up front would not call to have them sent over. I felt she was irritated I interrupted her cell phone call.

She simply said "We don't do that." and went on with her conversation. While in the room, I also overheard this same woman telling a person on the phone they wouldn't see their pet and to go to the ER, stating "a lack of action on your part doesn't make it an emergency on mine." Wow, really? Not to mention their customer service staff changes every single time I am there, but they choose to keep Mrs Frizzle who doesn't seem to give a damn about anyone.

None of their staff is especially friendly or polite, except our nurse, Kayla. I could hear the other nurses behind the door arguing over who had to cut a pet's nails. Ok, we get it. None of you want to be there, and now neither do I. Time to find a place that not only wants my business, but appreciates it as well.

This is by far the worst veterinary clinic I have ever been to. One thing that that disturbed me was that prices would bounce around for my dog and they would never stay the same on certain things. I spoke to my "Neighbor" and he had the same issue. Also the girl upfront And some of the staff are very rude. I have worked Dogs in the military and also out of the military and I have been to many veterinary clinics and this by far is the worst one that I have ever been to. My advice this place is a scam and pick another clinic.

They screwed up on billing and then threatened my with email and constant harassing phone calls and that started the next day. I was away and told them I was out of town camping in the woods and would pay them when I got out. Here is a copy of the email from the OWNER! Please call in with a credit card for payment or email a photo of the credit card you thought was stored in our system.

We do not do any billing and this needs to be taken care of by close of business today (7pm) or will be referred to the Magistrate court. We are happy to take payment from a family member or friend over the phone. Best, Leighann Pierce Owner

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE ~ NEVER! I've been a dog owner nearl over 15 years and I have never come across such a Vet who tries to extort money from pet owners. This facility staff has been so difficult with my dogs Simparica prescription. Doctor Michele Stawart prescribed 1 dose of Simparica for my dog that weighs 30lbs. Demanding we check in with her every month to replenish another dose.

The staff refused to let me speak with the doctor. Every time a dog see's the doctor it's $100.00 In order for my dog to get Simparica prescription, I'm told I need to bring my dog in every month. The staff excuse was THEY ARE TRYING TO IMPLEMENT CORRECT VET PRACTICE. I had never had a problem getting my dog a full12 month prescription from any other vets starting at the age of 4 months pup 25lbs. It's obvious, this facility is trying to make a quick $100 every month from your dogs prescription. CLEAR EXTORTION. This is unheard of and I am truly appalled by the situation I forced in.

I have been going to this vet for heartworm tests since 2010. No big thing, the cost was cheaper than anyone else. Then I decided, since their cost of spaying my dog was cheaper than my regular vet, I went here. What a mistake. She not only came back with a horrible hernia, and extremely sick, she was COVERED IN FLEAS. The money I "saved" ruined my dog and had to pay for the flea treatments. Now, the last part, I tried to get the heartworm check, and 12 months of flea preventative, and they told me AFTER WE GOT THERE, that even though they would do the test, they couldnt sell me the flea preventative UNLESS MY DOGS RECEIVED AN EXAM. UM.they couldn't have told me that BEFORE bringing in the dogs.

The staff was rude.and I mean VERY RUDE, THEY even told my husband to LEAVE AND WAIT OUT IN THE CAR, my dogs were too loud. What dog isn't loud? I will never set foot in that door again, and I will tell ANYONE IN DETAIL HOW AWFUL THIS VET IS. IF this had been one isolated incident, I would have let it go, but this place is horrible. How can you tell someone to leave and wait out in a car until being seen.it was HOT OUTSIDE, and what if we had no air conditioning? Beware, the cost may never outweigh the health of your animals. My female dog will have to live with this hernia for life, and I have 3 vets that have told me that Acres mill messed up her spay. Horrible, just horrible.

I take my dog Grover here and he loves them. Not only does my dog love them, they're reasonably priced too. I called wanting an appointment the next day and they were free to see him. I'm so glad we found this vet and that we are just down the street from them!

Love love love them. They are so gentle and kind to my dog every single visit. Even when they're busy they have never rushed an appointment with us-it makes me feel like they are genuinely caring for my friend.

Just. Plain. Awful. I arrived for my 2:00 appointment at 1:45. The waiting room was completely empty which was my first clue this experience was probably not going to be what it should be. I waited in the tiniest of rooms until 2:30 for a veterinarian who had no other patients, before I lost my patience and walked out. Terrible service.

We love Acres Mill - my Great Dane is a regular now for boarding whenever we have to go out of town. It is great seeing the change from initially being nervous when I would bring him in, to now him actually being happy and wagging his tail when he sees his friends!

I am SO angry. These scam artists are trying to get $100 out of me to "physically" exam my dogs before they can board there. I was already going to be dropping $300 to board them for 10 days, but you know what I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on. I won't be paying $100 for them to "physically" exam my dogs (that DO have updated vaccines and blood work) by just looking at them and saying they're good to go. Don't go here if you value your money. There's a line between a con artist and a real caring veterinarian. And unfortunately you're the latter.

I know 3 people that have picked up their dogs from here in unsanitary conditions, with scratches on their face and head. No water. One persons pet passed away the day they picked it up from boarding here. DO NOT BOARD HERE.

My dogs have gone to Acres Mill for years! Today one of my 6 dogs, Tabasco, got in a fight and I wanted them to look at his face during BUSINESS hours. Acres Mill didn't have any appointments or even 5 minutes available to look at him and let me know if I needed to take him to the emergency clinic for stitches. When you've cared for my dog for every bath and well check for 10 years or his 11 years of life, but won't see him when he REALLY needs it, you've lost my business and my respect.

I started coming to Acres Mill just over 5 years ago with a dog I was fostering and this is the vet they use. Well, I'm a foster failure, but I continue to come here (despite it being over 20 miles each way) because Dr Stewart is absolutely fantastic. She diagnosed my dog's skin condition the FIRST time and got her on the right medications. Dr Stewart is very compassionate and understanding, especially since my dog is very fearful (she was removed from an abusive home). I can't say enough about how great the office and staff are.

Do not use this vet! Boarded my dog there and they gave her medicine I told them not too then charged my card without my permission or even informing me they were running the charge. Cannot trust them. They overcharge. Will never use again.

Me & my little guy loved this place! I have been coming here since 2007 and once when I moved I started going to another vet office that was closer to where I moved but it wasn't the same so I started driving back here. Unfortunately I had to say goodbye to my little dog this past Feb at an emergency vet and once I told them about the loss they were very kind and sent their sympathy for my loss.

As soon as you walk in there are kind, happy, smiling people up front to greet you which is nice especially when have a sick animal. Almost all the vets are just great and you can really tell that care about and love animals. I rarely had to wait more than 10-15 for the vet and my appointments were almost always on time. I recommend this vet to all!

Acres Mill Veterinary Clinic Killed my beloved cat. My family and I went on vacation this past week. We have never left our pets at a pet boarding place but have always just taken them with us or left them with a family member. This time however, we were unable to find a family member to watch over our dear pet so we decided to take them to a place just up the road from our home, Acres Mill Veterinary Clinic in Canton, GA.

We dropped our pets off on Friday. Both the cat and dog were health and up to date on all their shots and office visits. When we picked our pets up the following Thursday, today. We got there, payed them $200.00 for the boarding. When the brought out our 12 year lab, Hershey, his nose had a bloody gash on it. They then brought out our three year old cat, Boots, just in time for us to watch the last 10 minutes of his life as he grasp for air and appeared to be dehydrated and starved.

He was so weak he could not stand. They even tried to tell us he was fine went they took him out of his cage just minuets prier. Acres Mill Veterinary Clinic let one of my family members sit in a cage for days and die a slow and I am sure painful death. He showed every sing of being dehydrated. To top it off they charged me the boarding fee. If you love your pets DO NOT trust these people with them. We have lost a much loved part of our family. I'm sorry Boots for taking you there, we should have taken you with us. We will miss you and we love you

We have used Acres Mill for 3 years. The staff is very friendly and always there to answer any questions. The doctors are wonderful. They take their time with each of our pets, and always make sure that our pets are well taken care of. We have used the boarding facilities many times. The staff working in the boarding area always treat our pets as their own.

They are available to answer my calls when I call and check on my pets. I have been extremely pleased with all of my visits to Acres Mill. I highly recommend them for all of your veterinary needs.

I wish I would have never stepped a foot in this place. They were supposed to fix my dogs leg and instead they gave him medication that should not be used in his type of breed. They did not monitor his heart rate and a healthy 1 yr. old dog died of cardiac arrest. The surgery report is very sloppy and incomplete. They called to inform me of his death-claimed that things like this happened and he didn't know why his heart stopped.

I simply goggled the meds that were given and I am shocked. They used "ace" to calm my dog before they administered the anesthesia. This medication can be ordered online and there is a big red warning label that states "do not use in boxers". Ace will slow a boxer's heart down- to the point of cardiac arrest. I have done some research and I don't see how they-or any vet for that fact- doesn't know--especially since it has been posted on the vet info line as well as in different vet publications not to use ace in boxers.

The vets at Acres Mill took an oath "Being admitted to the profession of veterinary medicine, I solemnly swear to use my scientific knowledge and skills For the benefit of society through the protection of animal health, The relief of animal suffering, the conservation of animal resources, The promotion of public health, and the advancement of medical knowledge.

I will practice my profession conscientiously, with dignity, And in keeping with the principles of veterinary medical ethics. I accept as a lifelong obligation the continual improvement Of my professional knowledge and competence.".REALLY? The complications with ace usage in boxers have been studied since 1997. Reports from different vets all over the world are warning about the risks of ace. This has been posted on vet info line-which is exclusively for vets to keep up to date.
