Our fall shows, temperament test, and runthrus were a huge success from the weather to the food to the folks attending! Thanks to all who helped and our judges for a terrific time. Outstanding German Shepherds start with sound breeding and early socialization. A nice training program builds a solid relationship between dog and handler.

Obedience training is the foundation for everything you want from your German Shepherd. Potty training, good manners, enjoyable walks with your dog, tricks, performance exercises, and competition exhibitions are examples of the result of successful obedience training. Getting in shape forces you to face your biggest challenges, and sticking to a regular routine for a long period of time.
The GSDCW puppy class and AKC/STAR class is offered to anyone who owns an AKC (American Kennel Club) or PAL (Purebred Alternative Listing) registered German Shepherd puppy, between 10 weeks and 6 months. You do not have to be a member of the Club to attend. Puppies are also given play (modified agility course) and nose work time during each class to socialize with other puppies, children and people and distractions in the class. The focus is on developing behaviors which will ensure a well-behaved, well-mannered adult German Shepherd Dog.
The German Shepherd Dog Club of Wisconsin is located off I-43 southwest of Milwaukee between Racine Avenue and SR-164. The Club is on the east side of Guthrie Drive just south of National Avenue. Correspondence may now be mailed to the address above as we finally have a secure mailbox! Membership is open to any person eighteen years or older who is sincerely interested in the aims and purpose of the club.
Started in 1989, PETS promotes the German Shepherd Dog through positive community exposure. Promotion: Community parades offer great exposure for PETS participants to exhibit well-behaved, sound dogs, providing positive community exposure for the breed and club. Participants are able to demonstrate obedience exercises and allow interested spectators to pet the dogs.
The German Shepherd Dog came into being in the late 1800 in Germany. Captain Max Von Stephanitz began breeding several different kinds of German herding dogs to create one that could work under all conditions. This is why the Standard focuses on the well-bred German Shepherd Dog that has the gait to allow him to trot around the sheep (a "living" fence) all day, guard the shepherd and the sheep, and provide loyal companionship to the shepherd. Every purebred breed has a Breed Standard that is a "word picture" of the important and unique characteristics of the breed.

With a new German Shepherd puppy the club was referred with a glowing recommendation by the breeder. Having taken the pup to two classes now, I understand why. The facility, people and other dogs are all great. I believe I heard this is the largest German Shepherd Club in the country and operating for 75 years. The wide variety of training, resources and instructors are great.
The facility is large, clean and very well kept. IF you have or are getting a German Shepherd, I would suggest going here first to ask members for guidance or as soon as you can to get your puppy socializing with other dogs. They DO check your dog's records for shots, deworming, etc. which makes bringing a dog here much better than a dog park in many ways. The dogs here are always kept on leash and proper introductions are done to prevent any untrained disagreements.
