Preventive medicine and regular examinations will help your pet stay in great health. Brenner Animal Hospital can quickly diagnose problems and treat them when you bring your pet in regularly. We recommend a full series of Da2pp and Kennel cough as core vaccines in addition to Rabies which is in compliance with State law.
At Brenner Animal Hospital, the dental procedures begin with a careful exam and overall body function check before anesthesia is used. Fluids and an IV catheter are also used as a precaution. Dental cleanings are often performed when tooth and gum disease is already present. In some cases antibiotics are necessary.
Dental cleaning can prevent tooth loss as well as heart, kidney, and liver diseases, which start with infected gums. Chewing treats without regular dental care aren't effective - bring your pet in for service featuring modern ultrasonic and high-speed equipment, as well as dental extractions, intra-oral radiographs, and dental x-rays.

Do NOT take your furry loved one here. They care more about their pockets then your furry loved one. I was bringing my lil Macho here for 2 years and prior to coming here his previous vet in OH told me Macho had to have eye medication for the rest of his life. Well since covid his prescription went up with everything else in the economy from $75 to $101.
He was in dyer need of a refill, I call to get a refill and was told by Diana they needed to "examin" him in order to refill his prescription. Why he needed an exam just for a refill confused me, but Macho needed his prescription so I went ahead and agreed to pay $86 for the exam on top of what I had to pay for his meds. The morning of I get a call saying in order for Macho to get his prescription I had to pay close to a extra $300 for his vaccines.
Mind you Diana never mentioned this to me. When I explained that I could not come up with that they denied service and denied filling his prescription. So my Macho was left in pain, and possibly going to go blind because I couldn't come up with that extra in less then two hours. I was never offered a payment plan or even asked when could I do it. So if you love your pet DO NOT TAKE THEM HERE. Their money is more important then your buddy.

I rarely writing review, but the recent service bill keeps bothering me. My 5 years old cat just had a deep cleaning service few days ago. The procedure went smoothly as planned except for the bill. The bill was $722 which was $72 more than the quote of $650 they gave me in February. I asked the staff to double check in their system. The staff said they didn't see any estimate amount I mentioned in the computer.
Then she said let's she check with Dr. Brenner. A minute later, she came out and explained to me - the estimate they gave me was a promotion price for only in February. I was totally surprised and telling her - I wasn't told it was the promotion. I booked this appointment right after they gave me the estimate and I didn't pick the date, the appointment was first available.
The staff said nothing she can do. I signed my credit card and told her that the explanation makes no sense. Dr. Brenner has been taking care for my pets for more than 10 years, one after the other. There was several major services he performed on my other pet in the past without any issues. I trusted his professional as well as his business that was the reason I didn't ask for a written estimate, I will do fr

This is my favorite vet. Dr. Brenner truly seems to like what he does and takes extra time after hours to explain everything to clients. I've always felt well informed and cared for. He has walked me through several difficult decisions involving long-term issues with both my dog and my cat, and I felt like I was able to make the right choices for them thanks to his advice.

My husband and I recently visited Dr. Brenner and his team. We had a very sick fur baby who was our world. Our cat, Smokey. Dr. Brenner performed Exploratory Surgery on Smokey and found he had Kidney Cancer. Once the surgery was over Smokey was not able to get off the oxygen. We had to make a heart breaking decision and we miss him dearly. We also made the decision to have Smokey cremated. Dr. Brenner and his team took care of the whole process.
During the whole heartbreaking process from multiple vet visits to trying to pin point what was wrong with Smokey - Dr. Brenner and his team were amazing and so compassionate with what we were going through. I highly recommend Dr. Brenner and his team.

It's clear that Dr. Brenner loves what he does. He's so enthusiastic every time we come in. The whole staff is very friendly and helpful, and they always take the time to explain things. They aren't just here to address one off problems, they really want to equip you to give your pet a long and healthy life.

It is sad to go in search of help for your pet and you can get the vaccination card against the coronavirus first when you are worried about the health of your puppy and at that moment the most important thing for you is the health of this. and the saddest thing is that they tell you that there is no space to attend him because he does not have an appointment; When have you seen that to go to the sick hospital you must first make an appointment?.
What a bad service the staff of this hospital is providing, it hurts that the friendly staff that there were before are no longer there. What is the use of having a good doctor if those who receive you do not have the slightest affection for pets. it is time to change doctors for my little ones, I will look for a place where they are interested in the health of my little ones.

My family has taken our pets to Brenner when I was younger. Today I took Finn in for my first time after the covid restrictions. It hasn't changed a bit. They take well care of my Finn and they have outstanding service! I absolutely trust this place and their practice! Finn thanks you guys for taking care of him as always! And may I add. Affordable as well!
Make sure your pets get insurance as well! Our insurance has a 250$ deductible and they cover all of his flea and tick and heart worm medications. Nationwide! With our insurance and this place with great prices I wouldn't go anywhere else!

Update: Nothing in this response is true. I was asked for a deposit amount to hold my appointment. No mention was made about an application. I did not receive any paperwork prior to arrival. Do you even have my email address? I absolutely gave you my credit card number. What did you do with it? Ask Chris. I was not given any information about leaving the cats for the day when I arrived. This whole exchange is unprofessional. Do NOT use this practice, if only because they choose to argue about my experience in a public forum.

Took my foster cat, Callie, here yesterday. Dr. Brenner is wonderful and friendly and so helpful, as are his staff. We had a great long conversation about the issue I brought her in for, as well as other future-care things he noticed while observing her. Only complaint is that they don't really provide print-outs of the visit, which is a bit of a challenge for me as someone with a cognitive disability that affects my memory and auditory processing. Dr. Brenner is also a very vocal advocate for the importance of keeping cats at a healthy weight, and we had a great chat about current science/studies around obesity in pets.
As an animal advocate/rescuer, I have seen the impact in a cat I adopted who was obese for many years until I took him. Nothing was more painful than losing him to congestive heart failure and watching him drown slowly as his lungs filled with fluid as we raced to the ER. The work Dr. Brenner does will certainly spare many pets from this horrible death. Pro tip for first timers: the entrance does come up a bit quick if you're coming south down Route 1, so just stay to the right and look for the sign.

I'm so glad I decided to go with Dr. Brenner when I moved to the area 3 years ago! I have 2 dogs and 3 cats. it's not the cheapest but you get what you pay for, vets included.it's always been worth the money. (I had one of my dogs and a cat get dental work done and some teeth had to get pulled $$$$). His dental services is one of the reasons I picked this clinic.
I just wish it was less popular, he's a busy guy. I don't know how he does it all. I can generally get appointments within a couple days, not a week or more like most locations. The staff and vet techs are all super sweet too. Everyone listens to my concerns and really gets how they are truly family members, not just pets. I'm not treated like a number and my pets are treated with kindness.

When we first got our puppy, she wasn't eating and was going diahrrea constantly- we knew she must have worms and they were very accommodating on short notice. We brought her in and the vet and staff took excellent care of her, and they were more than happy to answer all our puppy related questions. We were seen same day and they got her on the path to better health. Now our healthy and thriving puppy is happy to return here and we know she is well taken care of when we bring her here.

In response to my review, Dr. Brenner far from acknowledging any wrongdoing, accuses me of neglect and blames me for my cat's death. In order to pillory me, the pet owner, he has published details from my deceased cat's medical records. How unprofessional can you get? My cat was between 16 and 17 years old at the time of her death and that is a ripe, old age for a cat.
I wonder how she lived such a long life if I was so neglectful. The fact is that she had a long, active and content life and had reached the end of her life span. Unfortunately, she succumbed to a necrotizing disease that prevented her from maintaining her oral intake of fluids and nutrition. I was heartbroken at her passing. I learned from reading Dr. Brenner's notes that he suspected an oral infection and "neoplasia" or cancer.
How cruel and dishonest to blame the petowner under these circumstances and certainly on a par with the dishonest and manipulative conduct that Dr. Brenner displayed during the appointment. There is no "treatment plan" for a cat that age with a diagnosis of a necrotic oral infection and cancer which is preventing intake of fluids and nutrition. Dr. Brenner knew that as soon as her saw her.
There was no justification for "recommending" or "strongly recommending" baseline bloodwork for a seriously ill and dehydrated animal. In the first place, the test results are likely to be skewed by her condition (as the kidney function test results were). In the second place, what does it matter what other underlying conditions she had when she was unlikely to survive the oral infection/cancer?
Can I treat my deceased pet for hyperthyroidism? When I firmly declined subjecting my cat in her weakened state to an unnecessary blood draw for the pointless and unnecessary blood tests, Dr. Brenner should have respected my wishes. If he had I would never have written a negative review on Yelp. Instead he induced me to "agree" to the tests by initially refusing to treat my cat's infection and then engaging in some of the most blatantly manipulative, cruel and disgusting conduct I have ever been subjected to.
In the end, I did not "agree" to anything. I capitulated because, based on his demeanor and unprofessional conduct, I did not feel I had any other choice. I have striven to be accurate in my review in describing what occurred and have quoted Dr. Brenner verbatim at several points. In order to discredit my candid review, Dr. Brenner has made several inaccurate statements about what I said and did.
He states that I have a very cynical view of veterinarians in general and told him that a vet had "killed my last cat." I have never had any other cat so it is highly unlikely I made that statement. The appointment did get combative because Dr. Brenner would not accept my decision to refuse the needless blood tests and I did state that another vet had unnecessarily subjected my cat to an operation.
I adopted my cat as a stray and did not know her medical history. So I took her to a vet at one of those animal hospital chains to be spayed. I received a call from the vet informing me that my cat had already been spayed. He then began arguing that I should allow him to cut her open again so he could make sure that the prior operation had been properly performed and to "check her for ovarian tissue." I am ashamed to say I fell for it and allowed my poor cat to be operated on again for no good reason.
He even charged me more for not spaying her than he would have for spaying her. I think it is important to recognize that a veterinary practice is a business and businesses have a lot of overhead expenses and exist to make a profit. If you take your pet to see a vet for an initial appointment and observe that you are the only one there, run, don't walk, to the exit.
You are likely going to be presented with an estimate to have all sorts of lab work done at an exhorbitant price because you are a source of much needed revenue for that business. If a veterinary practice which has been operating for a number of years, is trolling for new clients by offering a free initial visit, think twice before taking the bait.
You never know what you will be subjected to. Veterinarians who deal fairly and ethically with pet owners and treat pets compassionately and competently, in my experience, have a thriving practice and therefore no incentive to overcharge or bill for unnecessary tests or procedures.

I've been coming to Dr. Brenner for 19 years and four dogs now, and I very highly recommend him. I've even brought fish into him! His staff is excellent- happy, friendly, always greeting my dog by name. He's committed to not just treating your pet, but also telling you why he recommends a certain treatment. First class place!

Where can my family begin when it comes to Dr Brenner and his staff. We have known Dr. Brenner for 28 years. From our very first pet Clover, who he helped out with the stray kitten we found, to our beloved Ariel, who he cared for the the past 11 1/2 years. There is no better vet and quite frankly no better doctor. The care and patience he showed our pets, lets us know he realizes this is a family member.
His first thought is what is best for our beloved creature and carefully and kindly explains the benefits of what he has in mind. We have never left his animal hospital with any doubts or questions. Always security and confidence and most of all with gratitude. As far as his staff goes, they are a wonderful reflection of Dr. Brenner. Each and every individual there is just as caring and extremely kind.
We recently lost our Ariel, but the amazing and extraordinary effort and comfort they gave, only proved again, why we trusted Dr. Brenner and his staff in the first place. We can not stress enough to anyone reading these reviews, how outstanding of a vet and doctor Dr. Brenner is and so is his staff. If you are thinking of adding to your family with a pet or in need of a vet, this is the one and only doctor and staff to go to. Dr Brenner is worth going any distance, as we and many of my family members did.
Promise you and your family will never be sorry. Dr Brenner and staff, thank you once again, for the years of devotion you all gave our furry family members through the years. Someday we will be back. That is what Clover and Ariel would want.

Dr. Brenner is awesome! After having a horrible experience with another vet, Dr. Brenner showed great care for my cat who is FeLV+. He loved on my cat, gave him treats and showed genuine concern for my cats health. He gave me supplements for him and gave me advice on food for him. He told me he is healthy now and can live a happy life. Another vet in Ellicott City told me to put my cat down!
The only thing I haven't liked was the receptionist yelled across the office for the vet tech to be careful with my cat and the office cat because mine is FeLV+. I thought that was a little insensitive. Other than that, I've loved my experience with Dr. Brenner so far and look forward to working with him in regards to my cats health.

Fantastic veterinarian, and the whole practice consists of people who love animals and understand that your animal is a member of your family. Doc Brenner has decades of experience and a gentle touch with the little furry ones who rule our hearts. For years, he has been my go-to guy; he's cared for 6 different cats, and I wouldn't go to anyone else.
Though it's not a regular part of Doc Brenner's services, since he'd been my 17-year-old cat's vet for years Doc came out to my house so that my cat could be put to rest in his own home. Look no further. AAA+++
