I am different-old school in many ways. I grew up on a farm. Animals were animals, they had a job to do, they were well cared for, but they were treated as animals. I don't mean that unkindly. I had countless baby lambs following me in the house to be bottle-fed and snuck the family dog in the back room when it was cold.
Charlotte not only trains the dogs, she also trains the people and makes it a positive experience. Charlotte has the patience to teach us how to train our dogs. Charlotte's methods mimic the natural behaviors and K9 thought process that dogs understand. She has studied the natural patterns of how dogs relate to each other and to the Alpha of their pack, and gives the owner the tools to become the Alpha, whom they have great respect for. This method of training has been proven by her many years of experience.
The dog should be between 4 and 6 months, although they can be 5-6 years and still benefit. I like to get the owners in class before bad habits are started. The first night, just bring your dog and a willingness to learn - all equipment is provided. I don't normally train with treats - I want the dog to work for me out of willingness to respond and respect. Too often a treat is not handy when you need a dog to mind. Treats may be used as a motivational tool for some dogs and as the occasional reward.
Trimming a dogs nails can be a very difficult or a very easy task - it all depends on how early you start. From the moment I brought HoneyBear home I frequently messed with her. Pee pads, newspapers, paper towels & bleach wipes! Housebreaking a new puppy is a frustrating task. If I could be with her every second, I know I could get this done quickly, but I can't, work calls.

We have a Pyrenees/Lab mix and he's was quite rambunctious. Thanks to Charlotte and her excellent training classes, he's a different dog. He now does sit, stay, down, come and heel without hesitation. He's a delight and we no longer worry about him and his behavior when others(dogs or humans) are around. Thank you Charlotte!

We were looking for a good trainer for our Rottweiler puppy and came across Charlotte's site. I really liked what she presented as her philosophy and approach to training. Since the pup was only 11 weeks old, he was too young to be in a class, but she had us come in for a single session to get us started until he is old enough to to go to group class. Charlotte is straightforward and down to earth.
She gives lots of good information and tells you what you are doing wrong without making you feel like an idiot. She is holistic and recommended her own vet who also practices holistic/homeopathic medicine. She gave us a dvd covering what we went over in the lesson. Charlotte's prices are reasonable and she has access to foods and supplements through her business that you may not be able to find locally at a more economical price. Bourbon starts his first group class in April. I look forward to having the best behaved Rottweiler, which will make him a happier, safer pet.

Charlotte was wonderful with training my lab (and me). My lab mix did not adjust well to moving and became very anxious, at times aggressive and was relentless about trying to assert his dominance. He did a two week board and train with Charlotte and was like a completely dog when we picked him up and for the first time in awhile I felt comfortable being his pack leader. We are looking forward to attending classes for our continued training. We highly recommend Charlotte the dog trainer!

We just finished Charlotte's beginner class with our five-month-old puppy, and we have much more control over our dog. While Charlotte does train your dog, a lot of her training is focused on you - the dog's owner. In six weeks, you will learn the basic commands and principles of sit, stay, come, down, heel, and more. I can't recommend this class enough!

She is a wonderful trainer she is old school she teaches, the owner as much as, the dog she is a firm instructer. that teaches the owner to be able to provide a safe and secure home for their dog. It is hard work but with practice and consistency you will be able to trust your dog and be and control of your dog when they get themselves into situations and which them paying attention to you could mean the difference between them getting hurt or not.
