Airborne Animals was established in 1985 as a pet transportation company. Owner Sally Smith purchased Airborne Animals in 2000 after retiring from veterinary hospital work.
Smith has served as both the President and on many committees of the International Pet and Animals Transportation Association www. IPATA.org, and has been honored with the prestigious IPATA Millie Wolff award twice, the only person to have received it twice, for providing, supporting or developing opportunities which advance the professionalism of persons involved in the safe and humane transport of animals.

Services
We specialize in pet transportation. Our pet shipping services include relocating small pets (like rabbits, ferrets and turtles), dogs, cats, and birds by commercial airlines' cargo services both domestically and internationally, and by road within the Northeast of America. We do not have our own planes.
Airborne Animals LLC is currently on a sabbatical hiatus and requests for estimates will not be checked regularly. We highly suggest the use of an agent's assistance for customs clearances and arrival clearances internationally. Airborne Animals LLC is currently limiting pet transportation arrangements to shipments containing birds, both in and out of the country. Other requests may not receive a response.
Airborne Animals adds our fees to the price of cargo (your pet's "ticket"). Therefore using our services is more expensive than dealing with an airline directly, and today many airlines will require the use of a booking agent, especially internationally, and you will not be able to plan pet travel yourself.
We provide professional pet relocation services by air for both domestic and international travel using pet friendly airways and we thoroughly investigate any requirements for importation to a foreign country. We personally make pet deliveries to and pick ups from Newark & JFK airports. Additionally, through a network of other professional pet shippers, we can make arrangements for out of state shipments.

Sally Smith and Airborne Animals have always provided us outstanding service. We have used Sally's services to transport our four beloved pets to Europe and we could not be happier. The service is well worth the money, they take care of any issue and problems that might come in the way and they insure the safety of the animals. I didn't mind at all paying for all of that! Airborne animals has great people working with them at various destinations.
Their associates were very professional and knew what they were doing and also facilitated picking up the animals at the cargo airport area quickly. Made everything easier. I don't understand the review with one star and complaints, Sally provides excellent personalized services. If I am willing to pay money to relocate my whole household to another country I am also willing to get the best service for my animals to cross the Atlantic safely. Very grateful for Sally.

We have chosen Sally three times since 2015 to manage the move of our loved ones (Dobermans, cats) back and forth between NJ & Greece. Sally and her partners are outstanding. They are honest, have industry relationships and communicate proactively. if something happens and it can, this is the team you want working to deliver your pets safely and securely. At the end of July 2021, I contacted Sally at Airborne Animals about relocating my 3 four legged babies: 2 dogs and a cat, from New York to Cape Town, South Africa. The actual trip happened on October 7, 2021. Sally replied to my email promptly and in her reply she sent the most comprehensive and clear list of details and information a client could ever expect.
And she gave me an estimate based on her services for the specific needs of my animals, since one of them is a Boston Terrier Mix and could one travel on one airline. I am grateful for all the hand holding Sally did with us, answering my many questions and keeping us informed and updated along the process. There were no hidden costs, all clearly explained. Sally's pick up service was impeccable, timely and caring. Sally made sure one of my pups was taken care of with all his meds needs, and her follow up emails during transit were reassuring.

I called Sally because I was moving overseas and have a 9 year old mutt I rescued overseas. She immediately told me it was going to be expensive and suggested which airlines still allowed pets to go as extra baggage. I ran into many scary moments along the way, and as Sally offered her assistance, I called her for her advise. She returned my calls, explained a lot of stuff and calmed me down. I'll be nervous till we get there but, after talking to her, I am reassured I've done all I could at this point.

Avoid this company at all costs! You will be given estimates and nothing will be readjusted based on actual costs. Estimate $700 plane ticket.actual cost $500.is but one example. This price was the flight cost charged by the airline, so airborne animals made money off of this overage. This is in addition to the time she charges you to prepare paperwork, review paperwork, drive to the airport, and other incidentals.
She stole brand new crates that the animals were shipped in by the original rescue group and charged me for used crates. You may get a referral here stating that this company will give discounts to rescue groups---you will NEVERr receive a discount. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! The owner will use scare tactics to make you feel that you need her services.but you do not.
You can and should arrange for transport yourself if transporting domestically. If you feel that you need a specialized company, look for a better one that will not over charge you, steal your property, and makes money off of a non existent fear factor.

Keeping looking for a legitimate company. The owner will provide estimates, charge you fully for the estimates, and not readjust your bill based on actual costs. Would you pay $700.00 for a $500 plane ticket? If no, then do not use this company under any circumstances! You are better off making your own transportation arrangements for your pets or rescues. The owner will use a fear tactic to make you think you need her services, when you really do not. Stay far, far away from Airborne Animals
