Services
Just because you can't be with your dog all the time doesn't mean she has to be left at home alone. At doggie playcare, your dog will get plenty of exercise while socializing with other furry friends in a safe, supervised setting. And no more chewing up the furniture, accidents on the carpet, or incessant barking from being lonely and bored at home!
When boarding with The Animal House, doggies enjoy full days of fun in our Doggie Playcare from 7am to 7pm. At night, doggies rest comfortably in private sleeping quarters, or "bedrooms". We are not a typical kennel. We don't confine the dogs to "runs" or isolate them in cages for days at a time. Our boarding dogs are only in their bedrooms to eat and to sleep at night.
Our experienced team can handle all of your dog's grooming needs, from nail trims to baths to haircuts. Our standard bath includes a nail trim, ear cleaning, sanitary trim (if needed), gentle but thorough warm shampooing, warm rinse, blow dry, and brush out. Optional services include tooth brushing, de-shedding, and face/feet trimming.

Downloaded Yelp just so I could leave a review. It's sad to see one start ratings left by other clients. I have experienced nothing but professional and clear communication and service. Animal House and its staff are thorough and forward thinking to ensure animals have up to date vaccinations, document what supplies you bring when boarding, keep the environment clean, and require a temperament test and 3 strike system to ensure your animal is appropriately socialized.
My dog is excited when she is dropped off and comes home in a good mood when picked up. It really is a perfect place in Augusta to drop off your dog to have fun during your work day or board for your families vacation. I've usually been able to board my dog with several days notice but you should certainly call weeks ahead for boarding on major holidays.

My dog was accepted for temperament test on Thursday prior to boarding for the weekend. This was our first time at this establishment, of which I believed would be great for our pet. Information was not clearly relayed regarding preparation of food/ feeding. I was initially informed of a $2 discount with bringing food when boarding. It was not relayed that food must be individually bagged for each day boarded.
I spoke with the staff regarding not receiving clear information. Full boarding was charged without discount. Due to this being our first time at the establishment with this occurrence, I believed the staff was unclear with requirements for food distribution resulting in higher fees then told day before.

My dog came to Animal House three times. We were told after the first visit that she could have another try. After our third visit no one said that anything was wrong at all. I showed up today and was informed that she was not allowed to attend dog daycare and couldn't come back. It would have been helpful to know this in advance, since I planned on being able to board her today while our house is being moved. Very poor communication from Animal House on this.

Animal House was not prepared or equipped to handle proper care of our dog. We have a GSP that is high energy and loves all people and other animals. He went for his "temperament test" and we were told he passed and was able to board there but were told he did jump over the fence into another section with smaller dogs. Granted, we have a smaller dog that he adores!
I was told if he did this again 3 times he wouldn't be allowed to come back. I asked them more then once if they had set plans if he were to do this when we were out of town and unable to come get him. They said of course.we can separate him. Needless to say I receive a call stating he jumped over the fence into another zone again and that he was put in a kennel alone.
I totally understand wanting to protect the other dogs but why are your facilities not equipped for dogs that can jump? Also, might I add they wouldn't allow me to tour the facility and I have come to learn there is no outside play zone.only for bathroom purposes. Make the fencing taller or separate the rooms between the different dog areas. I was told they feared for him injuring himself because he was chewing on wood after he was separated.
Why are you boarding him where wood is present to begin with? He's not an anxious dog and loves to play with other animals and people yet I was told the only time he would jump over was when an employee entered the zone. Our GSP is super smart so it makes me wonder. Would not recommend this facility if you don't want to worry about your animal whilst out of town. We had a friend go pick up our dog so that we knew he was safe and boarded him elsewhere. Thankfully they had an opening.

Critical: Quality, Responsiveness We left our dog here for a week while on vacation. When we came back he seems to have kennel cough IMO and has lost weight, I weighed him. This place will also not answer the phone nor return calls left on VM which is absolutely ridiculous. Would not recommend and would NEVER leave my dog here again.

I wanted to give this place a 5 star because in the beginning it started all great. Although it was very expensive for all my 5 fur babies for 7 days (all chihuahuas)! Masters week was great, and they look like they had a great time! So I decided to bring them back 3 months later, when I went to Orlando for 10 days X 5 Chis @ $25 each per day. So for all that money (food not included), I thought my babies would have had better care.
While on my vacation I received a call that one of my fur babies eye was draining and of course they were afraid she may have an infection and spread to other dogs. I was afraid her eye was hurt. They did offer to take her to the vet and found out it was an eye puncture! No one knew how did this happen! I was given some drops from the vet and treated her eye for 3 month and the eye could not be saved!
She had to have it surgically removed. So now I have a beautiful fur baby girl with one eye. Not one call to see how she is feeling, not one get well card, Not one offer to help pay the vet bill.

I asked them not to separate my dogs and they did anyway! One dog came home from the trial day depressed. We had booked to go out of town and for them to stay for the weekend. She did NOT want to go back but was too late to change kennels. She came home severely depressed after the weekend. There is no outside run, just a minimal potty spot. My dogs have done amazing and love a different daycare so we won't make this mistake again.

I used to work here, and at the time the employees were treated horribly. With the new current management, some of the employees I have talked to say that they are being treated better. While the animals have been loved and cared for under both the old and new management, I love knowing that now the animals AND employees are being taken care of. I highly recommend this place because you will be supporting an establishment that cares for both the clients and the workers.
I've never had an issue with my dog boarding here. There is a boarding and grooming shop literally right on my street about a minute away, but I drive 30 mins to get to Animal House bc it's worth it.

Twice I booked an appointment and once I got there (after rearranging my morning) they told me that their scheduler did not write my dog on the calendar and they could not groom him. They weren't apologetic at all. The first time it happened, I thought. ok things happen it was an over sight. But twice no. Especially when I'm a loyal customer who tips well.
There was a time that my dog became very sick after grooming and a play day. It cost me $300 at the vet, 5 days of my dog being sick, plus their grooming and play date fee. I've found a new groomer that's clean and appreciates our business

Any time I have inquired about a dog and how he/she did that day, they never have a real answer for me. It's usually a one word answer; either he/she did "fine" or they did "great." The staff is never able to give me a detailed description other than a few words, let alone willing to find out for me. The lack of care is disturbing. Further, the majority of the staff behind the counter is not personable.
They treat you as if you are just another number, and not an actual customer. The only time they actually talk to you is if they are putting you on the schedule or letting you know your balance. It is also important to note that they have a log to sign dogs in/out but it is hardly ever used. Any time myself or a friend has tried to voice concerns, they immediately get defensive. The disorganization, lack of care, attention to detail and unprofessionalism is unacceptable.

I wanted to give a 5 star review, until both of my dogs started coughing. At first I thought maybe it was something stuck in their throat, but my small one has a deep cough aka kennel cough. They are vaccinated for this, but it is still highly contagious if they are around a bunch of dogs who are not properly vaccinated. I saw a review that said the same thing happened to their pups. Maybe if they air it out a little in there or something. I should have taken more time to look into other kennels. All in all, not bringing my pups back. So sad about this.

I am so glad that I found Animal House! I take my 2 big dogs here pretty regularly for day care and board when needed. I love how they know my girls by name and act happy to see them each time. I have used the grooming services a few times and have never been disappointed. My dogs don't require a haircut though, so hard to mess up a bath and nail cut; I do wish they would groom cats!

I am beyond annoyed by the fact that I even have to write this review, but I feel that's it only fair to other dog owners to share my experience that started off quite good and got progressively worse - to the point where I will not be returning for any services effective today. Initially, hair cuts were to my specifications, my dogs were happy when I left and happy when I picked them up, both from grooming and overnight stays.that is until recently.
Not only do they look the same when I pick them up from $80 worth of baths and haircuts, when I offer to leave a note for the things I want like a Mohawk for my boy and not to cut my girl's top knot, I'm told not to because the groomer will do "the same thing as last time" only to be completely disappointed almost to the point of pissed off when I have to swipe my card for haircuts I'm dissatisfied with. Additionally, on one overnight visit, I called the next morning to check on them and was told they were doing well and had a good night.
No more than 45 minutes later I received a call asking my permission to take my dog to the vet due to labored breathing. In the same call, I was told that my dog likely had bronchitis (which he had to have contracted in less than 24 hours), or he drank too much water too fast due to being overheated; both, in my opinion, are the responsibility of the facility, but can you argue with the people who are taking care of your dogs?
I told them to do whatever they needed to and I'd call back to check.long story short, I called the vet instead who told me that he had water aspiration, which is a direct result of consuming too much water too fast. Now, I'll let you decide who's fault that was. $200 + the increased fee for overnights, which I wasn't mad aware of, later and a dog high as a kite on meds he didn't need and I am pretty much done with Animal House.
A month later I have an unexpected situation and I need to send them back for an overnight. I pick them up the next day, a few days later I notice scabbing on my boy's back during a bath. The scab washes off to reveal a legitimate puncture wound. He was clearly bitten at daycare and I was NEVER told. Can I prove it? No. The likelihood that that's what happened - significant.
Color me pissed off again, but I have no argument only speculation. Final chance - I take them for haircuts today. Ask if I need to leave my note, per usual, I'm told no. I ask that she pay close attention to their faces because in recent visits, I couldn't even tell that they had been there. "Of course!" Is the response. Welp, I have the dogs back they both look exactly the same as when they were dropped off. So, the end of the Animal House saga has come.
I will not be returning and I advise you not to if you care about the safety, well being, and grooming of your dogs. Honesty, integrity, and respect should be a given with a business like this, but perhaps they didn't get the memo.

I'm giving 2 stars not because they are not a good facility. I've used them since I adopted my Lab last year and when it was just her I used the daycare service often and I think the way they do things is awesome. Having a high energy dog, it's important to me that she doesn't just sit in a cage. A few months ago I adopted a shelter dog and he was obviously traumatized at some point.
He has to be handled correctly or he acts out. I told them this. He passed their temperament test and has gone a few times and it's been fine as far I knew, until today. He has been kicked out. Which I get. He can be hard to handle if you don't take his needs into consideration. It's the way they handled it. I went in to pick up my dogs and they handed me a letter that said he wasn't allowed back and then they told me my total and that was that.
No conversation. I run a business. And that is bad business. Sometimes a simple conversation is all it takes. So in the end, I do not recommend. Because this isn't this first time I've had customer service issues with them.

Our dogs LOVE the animal house! They are regulars there and the staff is wonderful, friendly, and the facility is always clean. We feel safe and comforted knowing our dogs are in such good hands at a place like the Animal House! And I personally love the free little candies they always have for the pet owners at check out : can't say enough great things about this place!

Took my two miniature poodles in for a full grooming. The staff was very friendly. The shop looks nice and clean. My dogs were very well groomed and smelled so good! I loved the bows on my girl dog and the bandana on my boy dog.! Their pricing is higher than I like to pay. I always shoot for the $30-35 (per dog) range and they charged me $47 (per dog), but it's still cheaper than most places in the area and truly worth the money.
