I can't say enough good things about Dr. Carmichael and staff! She is extremely knowledgeable & was very thorough on her examination of our dog (our 9 yr. old baby). We greatly appreciate everything done to evaluate our dog & can say without any hesitation they are very professional, demonstrate great care & concern. If you don't have a Vet yet, we heartily recommend Sea Island Animal Hospital & Dr. Carmichael. You will NOT be sorry & you will be ever so grateful for their scientifically & reason-based care of your pet. They are winners in my book.

Condescending, unhelpful, and overpriced veterinarians. The veterinarian did not seem to understand that I knew that there was something wrong with my dog, other than his cataracts. He has had cataracts for years, and happened to have a pretty bad infection at the time I brought him in, as well. They told me that plenty of terriers live well into their twenties, and being blind is not a valid reason to put a dog down.
I never once said I wanted to put my dog down because he was blind. I was just telling them that I felt like there was something more serious going on. I pleaded with them to do testing of some sort. The veterinarian, that I saw, completely disregarded everything I said and treated me like I was overreacting and childish. Even though the infection caused by the cataracs did clear up, my beloved dog was still declining in health. Thankfully, I found an absolutely amazing Clinic in Beaufort.
They treated me with respect and they listened to my concerns. They understood that I know more about my animals than they do. No, I am not a veterinarian, but I know when there is something wrong with one of my animals. My beloved Fuzzy passed away just last week. I brought him into Animal Medical Center West, which is the clinic that I found that does an absolutely amazing job.
Last week, Fuzzy had an unexpected seizure, in the middle of the night. Animal Medical Center West made room to see him the very next day, even though they were fully booked. The veterinarian told me that fuzzy had a brain tumor, and they could not believe that another veterinarian disregarded my concerns. Do not bring your animals to Sea Island Animal Hospital!
They do not care about your animals, and they certainly do not care for your input! They caused Fuzzy to suffer in his last few weeks of life, by disregarding my concerns about his quality of life (not related to his cataracts). Fuzzy was and will aways be my baby. You will always be a part of my heart . RIP 2006-2022

I recently just moved to the area and was seeking a new vet for my pup. They were very professional. The vet listened to me, asked what my concerns were and we were able to get my dog the treatment he needed. The staff up front and back of house were super friendly. Not only we're they great with my dog, but we're helpful with my little one as well! And price friendly as well! Would recommend to anyone searching for a vet.

Started bringing my new puppy to Dr. Fetterman when he was just 8 weeks old and have only had great experiences! My Australian shepherd has a lot of anxiety, they always do such a great job at making him feel comfortable and treat him with so much care. They always answer all my questions and address any concerns with care and thorough explanation. I've been very happy with them and will continue to bring my boy here (now 7 months old).

We had a sort of an emergency type visit and they mad an appointment within 10 min. Dr Murray was wonderful and attentive and very supportive with what was going on with our Carly. I just wish that the outcome was more favorable (not an issue with the vet just the issue in which we were getting seen) thank you Dr Murray and Sea Island Carly appreciates your quick work up and caring service. 100/100 would recommend Sea Island

Took my dog in and was seen quickly (front desk was on top of it and noticed my dog needed to be seen, good job here). From there it went down hill. 180.00 to run a test that was not needed (long story, but I am sure it was not needed). Bottom line was the almost 400 bill to treat an animal bite and give me some antibiotic seemed pretty excessive to me. Seems more like a business than a caring vet clinic.
