K9s Only has been a premier Los Angeles Dog facility proudly serving the Tarzana, West LA, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, and Brentwood areas for over 20 years. K9s Only welcomes dogs of all sizes, breeds and temperaments. At K9s Only we provide instant friends and a busy day of activities that will make your dog's vacation better than your own! While vacationing with us, your dog will be cared for according to their activity level and temperament. My dog is very mellow and pretty much only likes to lie around and sunbathe.
Services
If your dog is social with others and has received a daycare/socialization evaluation, he or she may be placed into a play group which matches his energy level, temperament and personality, and allowed to play in our free-range indoor/outdoor dog park. If your dog is not social with others, we offer additional private play yards where they can enjoy playtime with a staff member or relaxation time on a cozy dog bed.
We value our clients' experience at K9s Only! Please make sure to read our policies before booking. K9s Only is pleased to offer our Health Care Commitment program (the "Program") in the rare instance that something goes wrong during a stay or service with us.
Both K9s Only Locations offer indoor/outdoor play yards for our large-dog packs and all-indoor play areas for our small-dog packs. We provide a Bark-a-Lounge and comfortable rooms with beds for lounging and napping. We NEVER overcrowd our daycare yard, limiting yards to 20 dogs. If you have a nonsocial dog, day boarding is available and personal playtime in our Private Yard is provided.
K9s Only boarding hotel is designed with your dogs every need and desire in mind. Welcoming dogs of all breeds and temperaments, your social butterfly will make friends in like-temperament playgroups, and dogs that prefer human only attention will receive one-on-one pampering from our loving staff.

I dropped off my pug here for a daycare session. Hours are great - 7am to 8pm on weekdays - which lets me stay at work later. Facilities are clean and it's well staffed. I would recommend K9s only to a friend

I used K9s only for the first time recently. This was for a long stretch of time and I was worried that my Husky would not be able to adjust. Upon returning from my trip having boarded him for the longest we've ever been apart, he had such a good time that he whined the entire way home because he had to leave. Would recommend for happy doggos, but can make the parents feel sad from how much the dog enjoys it;

We have been taking our pup Neptune here since he was a puppy and we have nothing but positive things to say! First, Neptune LOVES coming in for daycare. Jamie and the staff always make him feel welcome and comfortable. You can really tell they care about the pups. Second, Neptune was also able to go through the 3-week board and train with Britt, and it helped tremendously with his manners especially with jumping and not dropping things he shouldn't have. Lastly, we recently took him for his first full grooming session here and he looks amazing.

Here are a couple photos. They also do a lot of fun things for the dogs around the holidays and in the summer. Highly recommended if you are looking for an all round place for your dog.

I was never a big fan of "doggy daycares, " but now that I have a rescue dog with severe anxiety and attachment issues, he needs somewhere to go when I can't be with him. K9s Only has been a lifesaver and they are SO patient with him. They even suggested he do "trial runs" to get used to the employees, so you can tell everyone there genuinely cares about the dogs they work with.

I really never expected to trust strangers with my dog, but now I'll never go anywhere else. The space is also super clean, welcoming - even fairly quiet for a daycare! So send your pups here! They'll be in great hands.

They are terrible about communicating. The worst! I have reserved boarding stays for my dog and twice now they change a policy or require a new vaccine even though my dog is up to date with the usual vaccines and claim they notify me but never do until the day I show up to drop off my dog on my way out of town. TWICE now i have had to call to confirm and am told literally 2 days before I head out that even though my reservation says confirmed and good on their site "their new policy starts.blah blah blah".

When I complained or asked to speak to a manager there is no one to speak to. I even emailed my complaint once and they didn't even respond. It is very irresponsible for a dog boarding company to give a customer the impression their reservation is good only to find out a couple of days before hand that it is not for whatever new requirement or policy they have.

When asked why I wasn't informed this time the front desk girl said "you were emailed." When I asked when I was emailed the new policy change requiring yet another vaccine( which literally starts tomorrow and my dog has a reservation for Friday) she said "we don't have that information." They are very poorly trained and unorganized. If there is ever an issue with them you are out of luck as they really seem to not care. Customer service is not their priority. How then will they treat my dog? No thanks.

Absolutely worst run business ever! Do not even bother they are unreliable, irresponsible and absolutely should be shut down! Nee to the area 3 times scheduled grooming 3 times reschedule when I arrive no communication no call nothing just "sorry" we'll STRIKE 3 your owner and management need to close shop they clearly do not know how to run a business or provide customer service!

My experience with K9s Only has been fantastic! I had had my 2 year old rescue chihuahua-pomeranian-something else mix for about a year and had struggled with some behavioral issues for a while, specifically seemingly random, inconsistent aggression toward people. I came to K9s Only after he bit a stranger at a park, actually on the stranger's recommendation.

After meeting with Britt, I opted for the 3-week board and train to try to really instill the fundamental commands in my dog and regain control over the situations in which he is triggered. During the board and train, Britt was super communicative and I loved receiving pictures and videos of the training in action. When I finally got to pick him up, she did a full training session with me, going through all of his new commands in depth and giving me the tools to practice at home.

I was so shocked I could have cried (happy tears)--he came out of it with the same adorable disposition that I love about him but also a full suite of commands that he listens to to a T. We still have some work to do getting him to shift focus around distractions out in public and he still gets triggered from time to time, but I feel so much more in control and the time it takes to regain his attention and composure gets shorter and shorter each time.

Not to mention all the general socialization training he got just being in daycare with the other dogs too! This has definitely been life changing for me and it was worth every penny. I look forward to working more with Britt and continuing his training!

I did not enjoy my visit with my three month old puppy. There was confusion between the person who scheduled my appointment and the trainer was clearly annoyed and unprepared to safely evaluate a puppy with only two vaccine rounds. As a result the visit felt like a waste of time. I was shuffled outside on the hot pavement with no seating where Brittany the trainer explained my puppy was a poor candidate for board and train because he wasn't an adult with established bad habits.

I'm not sure why I wasn't told that over the phone to save myself the trip. When I mentioned my most urgent concern was my puppy chasing my cat she responded "Well I don't know what we can do about that". I was ultimately handed a brochure for puppy preschool and the trainer explained she didn't know much about it since it wasn't her program. I left with a sour taste in my mouth and a hot uncomfortable puppy. I found another facility closer to home that I felt worlds more comfortable with and a trainer that seemed to genuinely care about my dog.

I would like to take a moment to thank Austin who works at the front desk for his attention to detail and responsiveness. He is always kind when I have questions and definitely has a handle on things there! I will say, obviously during Covid things have gotten tricky, but my dog always returns home happy and exhausted from boarding!

We have taken our Pitbull, Titan to K9s Only for both training and boarding ever since we rescued him 7rs ago. Both the training and boarding have been awesome! They genuinely care about our pup and communicate well how he's doing when in their care - a little pricey, maybe more so than nearby competitors - but not too expensive (yet) to force me to look elsewhere. Highly recommend them.

I rescued a German Shepherd mix about 3 months ago and he was aggressive but I knew he needed a home. After one month he became very attached to me and developed severe separation anxiety. I was trapped in my own home. When people would come over he would jump at them and frighten them. If I would leave the house he would run around and knock things over, defecating throughout the house.

When I arrived home he was very anxious. I did not want to give him up and I wasn't sure if there was any way to fix this. I brought him to K9's Only and met with Brittany. I left him for 3 weeks and just got him back yesterday. He is like a different dog. I had friends come over for dinner last night and he was so polite and so sweet. Britney taught me a lot about his pulling on the leash and how to remedy that.

I am so happy and I recommend if you are experiencing separation anxiety or aggression, that you brng your dog here. It has truly changed my life. Plus they are half the price of other places.

Giovanni did a wonderful grooming job. His communication is great! And my dog loves to go to daycare there. We love that they keep the big dogs and the small dogs separated. Have been going there for four years and the experience just keeps getting better. Keep up the great work!

I left a stellar review for K9's only previously. I always give credit where credit is due. The manager really looked out for my Belgian Malinois Cairo when I needed it the most and I will always appreciate that. Anyone who is familiar with the Malinois breed knows they are very active high energy dogs and it takes an experienced owner/caregiver to take care of them.

The last few times I took Cairo to K9s only I noticed the staff really struggled with him. When they brought him out they struggled to hold on to the leash and keep him under control which is typical with persons who are no experienced with powerful highly active breeds. Keep in mind he is not aggressive AT ALL. He's the sweetest boy ever! I didn't think anything of it but the last time he went there was the last straw for me.

When they released him to me in the lobby he immediately started peeing in the lobby! And he never does that inside! It was obvious that due to his highly energetic nature they simply gave up on him and kept him trapped inside a cage the entire time because they didn't want to deal with him and he obviously held his urine because he didn't want to pee where he had to sit!

Then the trainer had the nerve to ask me about training I inquired about previously! I took my boy outside, let him relieve himself properly and never went back to this place. If you have a highly active breed I would not recommend! I was so appalled and how he peed so much as soon as he saw me like he really took the first chance he got and I know my bioy he did it out of necessity! NOT COOL AT ALL!

I have been working with Jamie, a wonderful trainer at K9s only. My two dogs, a german shepard and a pointer were in need of training for a lot of reasons. They are both older, 5 and 6 and have been with me constantly since Covid started. They had very little socialization and the shepard has severe separation anxiety made worse by Covid. Jamie has been a great help and has gone above and beyond expectations.

Training both dogs at the same time was not an issue and was exactly what I needed. They were very difficult to walk at the same time and they both have made great strides and improvement! She is always there to answer questions and has personally taken both dogs under her wing when they have been at daycare. (also to get them socialized again). She is a pleasure to work with along with the rest of the staff.

Whatever is needed during our one on one training she has stepped up to the challenge and task at hand, including using her own dogs to help with training on a leash with my dogs and going to a nearby park so we could be in a more distracting environment. Thank you Jamie and the whole staff at k9s Only!

My mom had a medical emergency leaving me to care for her dog. At the same time I'm still technically an essential worker and her dog, though very smart and good at other things, is not good at being alone for any length of time. I called around and this was the only place that could take her in for day care immediately, despite not having previously done an evaluation.

They took her in, did the eval that day and it wasn't nearly as expensive as I though it would be. It's also nice that they sell dog treats there because for a first time dog guardian like me, there's a lot of conflicting information on what is and isn't okay to give your dog (I.e. bully sticks, peanut butter, tracheas) and knowing their products are vetted by dog owners makes me feel more assured in my purchase.

I should also mention they aren't just day care, they're a full service dog boarding facility with grooming and training services; and even though I laugh at the thought that a dog might need a tv in their suite, I'm sure some people like to pamper their dogs like that. Also this experience might not match your own, but anecdotally, my dog has been coming home much better behaved this past week I've been taking her to daycare.

She used to get way too excited to see people and scare them, but now if I let her get the initial excitement out she'll calmly let little kids pet her. Seriously thinking about hiring their trainer to teach me how to make her stop jumping up on people.

Just a shout out to K-9's ONLY grooming staff, starring Susan! I always appreciate your loving guidance with Savannah and Picasso and their nails. Plus you are so gentle with my dogs and I know Picasso is a handful, but you handle him so well, you are calm and serene! Also want to say thanks to rest of staff at the Reseda center for the Always excellent care you give my dogs when they hang out with you for boarding. Can't say enough nice things. Love you guys and gals! Lesley H. West Hills, CA

We cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff and trainers at K9s only, especially Michele! To say we had a challenging rescue dog would be an understatement. Our dog suffered from severe separation anxiety, dog reactiveness and in general, lacked any training and grasp of general commands. She was incredibly lovable and sweet but needed a ton of work.

We signed her up for a 5-week board and train program and when we returned, she was a completely different dog! We vetted several programs and our very anxious dog took immediately to Michele's calm and positive demeanor. She is now so confident on her leash, calm at home and has wonderful manners with strangers. The entire staff was wonderful and called and emailed regularly with updates on her progress and how they were adjusting their approach to ensure her success along the way.

We were thrilled! I should also mention that Michele gave us a lot of great advice on nutrition for our girl who suffers from crazy allergies. As a certified animal nutritionist, she was able to recommend better food and diet options and we were very happy to report that she no longer requires prescriptions for her allergies and her skin. She really takes the time to get to know the individual needs of each dog and goes the extra mile to ensure that she equips dog parents with tools beyond just the weeks that the dogs are training at the facility.

We have since boarded her a few times when we have had to travel and she RUNS to the front door without so much as looking back. She LOVES IT there! Would definitely recommend as an option for dogs, especially those with more challenging issues. We love our k9s family!

We have been bringing our dog, Jackie Robinson, to K9s for a few months now. From day one, all the K9s' staff have been so kind and enthusiastic over Jackie. They're attention to detail and seeing Jackie as his very own person/dog, let's us feel relief and trust that they're taking care of him. We are very proud of the dog we've raised and value others who treat him with the same respect. Thank you, K9s. Even though we've moved further away, we are making this weekly trek with joy.

I don't know what my dog actually does in this place, but I know she runs towards the door without looking back when we take her, and when she comes home, she sleeps all evening long cause she's so warn out. I'm thinking she's having a great time, and frankly, I'm kinda jealous when I drop her off to go to work. Thank you guys for wearing her out. She loves it there!

Everyone at K9s Only West has been wonderful to my dog and me. I have a rescue who wasn't properly socialized, so I brought her in for daycare. They have really gone above and beyond to give my dog special attention. They make sure she's not getting overwhelmed, and they give me progress reports after every time I bring her in. I highly recommend this place!

K9s only has been an absolute life saver to myself and my business (an animal rescue). Jaime, the lead dog trainer, is beyond helpful, knowledgeable and caring. She and the company have been there to support us in many ways. K9s only has been a one stop shop for us and our dogs in need. They offer luxury boarding for pups who are waiting for their forever homes, as well as an enriching daycare experience which is something that is unique for us.

During COVID 19, it has been difficult to get appointments at other facilities, but Jaime and K9s only are always ready and happy to help. Within their facility they offer training, grooming, daycare AND boarding in one beautiful environment where our pups are loved on and cared for as if they were their own. I cannot recommend K9s Only enough.

K9's Only has been great for our 11 month old dog. With so many options in the Olympic/Sepulveda area, the team at K9s Only really sets themselves apart. They take care of our dog like they take care of their own - in fact, a few of the staff bring their dogs to work, and ours has become best friends with all of them. The entire staff cares, has great knowledge about dogs and their behavior, and is incredibly responsible and responsive. Jamie is a wonderful trainer - a "refresher" session is necessary every now and then for a puppy, but he loves working with Jamie and always comes home wanting to show off what he learned that day. Janet gives him the best baths and haircuts - very necessary considering how hard he plays at day care.

We have also used their hotel service several times, and plan to continue doing so. If a dog gets this excited when he hears "day care" in the car a few blocks away and then pulls towards the door, then K9's Only is definitely doing it right. We cannot recommend K9's Only highly enough.

I've been taking my Mini Goldendoodle, Charlie, to K9s only for 2 yrs now and I am so happy to have a daycare I trust. Everyone is always so nice, and most importantly Charlie is always excited to see the trainers/sitters when they get him in the morning. Today I am especially grateful for Ariel. I called to ask to have Charlie ready for me when I got there, because I was running late to a flight, and she took the extra effort to walk him so he could use the bathroom before I arrived.

I hadn't asked her to do that and I am so so appreciative of her thoughtfulness. Thanks for going above and beyond! Also, I use their groomer too and I am always so happy with Charlie's cuts and blowouts. 5 stars all around :

The manager Manuel Tinoco (Manny) called me and sent me an email about my initial review. I have never thought that anything would change my mind about what my experience was with K9s only, however, he wrote an email about every single detail that I have experienced with them. He sent a couple of security camera images to proof gypsy's walks, explaining what really happened with the bed and they were very honest about the whole thing.

They offered me a refund as well as a new bed and many more complimentary offers for gypsy's next stay. I felt very cared with Manny's email and voice msg. I completely changed my mind. I honestly thought that they don't even care because they had so many dogs to deal with but obviously it's not the case. I am very happy at the end of this nice gesture and treatment. Thank you so much Manny and the k9's only team. Looking forward to next stay.

Our pups love going to daycare and staying the night in a private room. The staff is kind and communicative. We trust our little ones are in good hands when we leave them. Over the holidays, both our pups stayed for an extended time when my husband and I made a trip out of the country. We were sent daily updates via texts with photos! Our "kids" are so important to us that it felt good to not have to worry if they were taken care of. Will book with them anytime we need to leave them for a day or night.

We recently adopted Jarvis, a one-year-old mutt from a local shelter. Our goal was for her to have an extraordinarily social lifestyle: going to work meetings, going to class, walking around a crowded university campus, meeting new people and dogs everyday, etc. all of which would require an EXTREMELY well-mannered dog. After discussing our training goals with Jamie Rahtz (trainer at K9's, West LA), we decided 4 weeks of "takeover training" made the most sense.

During the 4 weeks Jarvis stayed at K9's, we received email updates from Jamie (with video and pictures) every few days. It was clear that our pup was making progress: sitting/staying calmly in crowded places, not jumping up to greet strangers, walking to heel on a slack leash, not reacting to noisy distractions (e.g., clattering shopping carts).

When we picked her up at the end of the training period, we could see that Jarvis had bonded with the staff at K9's, especially Jamie. We brought home a relaxed and healthy dog, with a SOLID foundation of obedience and socialization. It's obvious that Jamie is an expert dog trainer: gentle, consistent, and with a real heart for working with animals.

But what's even more impressive is her expertise as a trainer of humans. :) During our follow-up sessions, Jamie trained US how to be good doggy-parents. She explained things really clearly and gave us specific directions about how to maintain and develop Jarvis's good habits. This is a total success story. Jarvis goes everywhere with us, gets petted by everyone, greets other dogs, lays at our feet during meetings or when we're relaxing at sidewalk cafes.

So many people comment on how well-mannered she is. Whenever we have a question, Jamie responds immediately, and we love the security of the lifetime guarantee that comes with takeover training. Thank you, K9's! Thank you, Jamie!

Our dogs stayed here over the holidays in a VIP suite. We provided the staff with a PDF of feeding instructions and more food than our dogs required just to be safe. We also called everyday from our vacation and were told both of our dogs were doing well. When my husband picked them up, one of our dogs had lost over 11 pounds. 11 pounds in twelve days.

They handed us back the food they hadn't used which was shocking given our dog's enormous weight loss. We took our dog to the vet and were told she was malnourished. When my husband spoke to the manager the following day she apologized and told him that they had taken in too many dogs over the holidays. We were refunded our money but no one was fired and as far as we know they haven't changed their manner of doing business. I would never do business with these people again. They're not just a huge disappointment, they're dangerous.

Very Very Very Disappointing! I initially chose k9s only because of the shining reviews on yelp, so I feel it is necessary to warn others who may be deceived by these deceiving reviews. Highlights- EXPENSIVE SHOCK COLLAR SPIKE COLLAR ZERO IMPROVEMENT OVER PROMISED RESULTS, UNDER DELIVERED RUDE OWNER CONSTANT UPSELLING We adopted our 10 month old Alaskan Klee Kai in December of this year, and he had a ton of problems, he wasn't potty trained, didn't respond to any name, barked incessantly while in his kennel, and chewed furniture. I'll outline the outcomes below.

We went to the initial meeting and happily paid the $75 for the evaluation. The evaluation was less an evaluation and more a sales pitch. We were promised a potty trained dog that was crate trained and obedient. (You can see these promised outcomes on their website) Daniela and Anja promised he would be a good dog when he was finished and would keep us updated with pictures and emails.

One of their big selling lines is "you spend the up front money for training now, and there will be no excuse for a family to re-home their dog because he will be trained and has a lifetime guarantee" (I'll outline all the additional money they asked us to spend after training!) As I showed any interest they added that it looks like he has some pretty bad separation anxiety and will need him an extra week (extra $900).

I agreed and off to 4 week ($3,500) training he went. I requested updates for him twice, and received very short responses about how he's having fun, but no updates about his progress, no pictures. Finally came the day to pick him up from is 4 week ($3,500) training. He did his little routine, and it was cute, but then we asked for the issues that we were very clear were the important issues to be fixed, and that were promised to be fixed.

The gave glowing reports of him mastering everything right away. That was not the case, below is the outlined outcomes we asked for in the evaluation (sales pitch) and their results: Barked non stop in crate- I asked about this at the evaluation, Daniela promised "we will definitely be able to fix that" When I picked him up she promised that behavior would not happen again.

The behavior showed ZERO improvement. When I went back the next day for a follow up, Anja and Daniela had no answer and suggested a SHOCK COLLAR! (attached is a picture of the email and the {EXPENSIVE} shock collar she suggested) That doesn't sound like he received training to me! I am appalled that she suggested the shock collar and concerned for my dog that a shock collar was used while he was at K9s without my knowledge. BEWARE!

They also suggested that "maybe he just doesn't like a crate, you should buy an {EXPENSIVE} dog gate" Cop out! Potty Training- When we picked him up, the first question I asked Daniela is "Is he potty trained?" Her response, "Totally! He mastered that right away!" Since leaving training, he had 13 accidents in 2 weeks, all within an hour of going outside on a walk, INCLUDING peeing at K9s only in front of Daniela and Anja less than 20 minutes after going for a walk.

We have since hired our own private trainer who gave us excellent techniques and training ideas that helped us potty train him in about 2 months. Chewed on furniture- This is no joke, when I asked Daniela at the evaluation if she can fix his habit of chewing on furniture, her response was "No problem! That's super easy to train!" I asked the same question when I picked him up from training her response now "Oh, thats just an age thing, he'll probably grow out of that in a month or 2, you should probably buy 2 of our {EXPENSIVE} marrow bones, so he can *hopefully* chew on that instead of the furniture" Didn't respond to any name- No surprise here, ZERO IMPROVEMENT.

He did his little routine with Anja when I picked him up, everything looked great, until she told me he would only do the routine with a SPIKE COLLAR on, and that I NEEDED to spend the $35 to buy a spike collar. This does NOT sound like positive training to me, it sounds to me like the used pain to get him to do what they wanted. When I went back after his training, they had me take him out of his crate when he was barking and put on the spike collar and tug on it while barking commands at him, when they demonstrated it to me he yelped in PAIN every time they tugged on it. HORRIFYING We were so fed up with the lack of training and lack of responsibility Anja and Daniela took for their overselling of the training that we asked to speak with a manager.

We received an unusually defensive and rude phone call from the owner, Bobby Dorafshar, who raised his voice at us when we were only trying to explain the situation. We kindly asked that they take Meeko back and deliver what was promised or we receive a refund for the lack of training we received after being promised very specific outcomes, his response "no. come in here and let me see his problems, and I'll show you why you're wrong."
