I've been taking my dogs to K-9 University for more than 10 years - first in Garland and now in Plano - for grooming, daycare, boarding, and training. My dogs get so excited when I ask them "do you want to go to school?", and that tells me they are comfortable and well cared for. Everyone who works at K-9 University is so nice and it's always impressed me that the employees seem to stay for a long time - literally decades in some cases. Happy employees who love their work and the dogs!

I recently moved to Texas for a new job with my little fur baby Gambit. He's as mischievous as he is cute and I needed some help in training him. He did the board and train program and came back such a good dog already. Now we're doing follow-ups and he loves it. He also goes multiple days a week for daycare because I work long hours and he has so much puppy energy. I'm a little extra when it comes to my dog and very particular. He's my family and I want nothing but the best for him.
Everyone here is super patient and considerate of all my MANY questions and concerns and never make me feel like I'm burdensome or silly. he's always referred to by name which sounds trivial but I think is nice since they see so many dogs. we've gone to other places that weren't as considerate. When Gambit sees us pull up he is so excited to spend the day with all his friends. It's great knowing that he's always in good hands when he isn't with me.

I dropped my two little dogs off here before me and my husband went out of town for 2 weeks for their board and train program. These little dogs were the worst little creatures you can imagine. They went to the bathroom in the house, chewed our furniture, ran away constantly. When I went to pick them up after the program was over I couldn't believe they were the same dogs. They did such an amazing job with our dogs I would recommend them over and over again.

When I dropped my dog off for the first time at K-9 for a family vacation, Oreo did not receive any affection from any of the staff they walked my dog back as if he was going to prison not even trying to make my dog comfortable. When I asked to see the back where he would stay I was not acknowledged. I had no other choice at that point since my flight was in the morning.
When I picked Oreo up nobody showed him any affection. Turns out my dog came back with kennel cough. They get the job done I must say even when they canceled our flight back home he had to stay another night with no problem they let him stay and added it to my tab, which I appreciate so much. Oreo is a cute little Boston Terrier I can't even take him anywhere without people asking about him. So it's weird that the people I'm supposed to trust with my son can't show him any affection. We will not be choosing this place for any further needs.

My dog, Toffee, a wheaten terrier just completed their 2 week training course. Everyone at the plano location is very friendly and they did a fabulous job training Toffee. She also had a groom, with Janelle their in-house groomer. Well, this is Plano's BEST KEPT SECRET! Janelle did a great job grooming Toffee, This is by far, the best groom she has ever had. Janelle is my new go to groomer for Toffee. They are very reasonably priced. It's so nice to deal with people who know what they are doing and are not greedy about pricing. The groom is very well priced.

This is the BEST place to board or do day care for your dog. My pug loves it and they love him. I can go out of town and not worry. He has a nice big area to stay in with his bed and toys. He loves day care where he plays with other dogs his size. Everyone in the place knows my sweet pug and are so kind to him. I've even done one on one playtime when I go out of town.
He never gets bored because they are so attentive. Last time they posted a picture of him getting tucked in for bed, OMG it was the cutest thing ever. I LOVE LOVE LOVE K-9 University at Coit and Spring Creek in Plano. They even do a report card and his always say My Pug IS PERFECT.

I can recommend K-9 Plano without reservation! I have used them for training, boarding and day care! When we arrive in the parking lot, my dog, Stella, gets excited and willingly goes with whichever staff member wants to take her back. I tried another place that was closer, and she did not have the same response. The staff is professional and kind and always willing to answer questions. K-9 University and the staff are incredible!

We took our puppy there for the board and train program. She did great. All the employees were super nice to us and her. The facility does smell but I guess that is expected in a dog boarding place. Would have given 5 stars but wish there was some sort of camera so I could have checked up on my baby with out calling everyday.(yes I am one of those people) Overall I would use them again. Update: I have been since my last review and I am pleasantly surprised. It smells much better than before. This is a great facility for boarding and training. Lucas is my favorite trainer. He is great with our dog and patient with us.

Completely unacceptable. Had a very bad experience. Be careful about the charges and the services they provide, they charge you more than what they ask during reservation. The lady who checked us in just started pulling my dog without introducing herself or petting my boy even once which she should have given this was the first time my boy was there.
Even after providing all medical records and details to them via email few days before drop off, they still asked me for medical records during check in. When I offered to send it again, they gave me the same email id again. I had to tell her the date and time for her to be able to find the same email. When booking a reservation I was told 25 usd as all inclusive charge which would also include taxes etc, but when I went to pick up my boy they added two usd extra due to peak season( although they said they will not charge me 50 usd initially to block my reservation as it is not a peak season yet).
I had asked them to socialize him with other dogs and I wanted to check with them on the second day about how he did, before confirming for further days. On the second day they said they will not socialize him any further with other dogs since he was shy, but on check out they asked me for ten dollars extra because they spent time with him. This is something never heard of neither was this told to me during reservation, that if dogs don't socialize then they socialize with them.
If they can't spend few minutes, why do they have people working at this place, they should either have robots working there. Very disappointing to have such an experience. My boy is a daschund and cocker spaniel mix, four years old and has been at many day cares, everyone has always appreciated him of his good behavior and fun loving attitude. He being treated this way and having such a bad experience is extremely disheartening. Hope we have better service at places like these.

My Experience with K-9 University Lucas, at the Plano location, was incredibly positive and patient during the training of my dog, Chloe. When I was ready to give up he soldiered on. Because of her background as a rescue, she will probably never be great at following commands, especially off leash, but she has come so far I can hardly believe it. She has so much confidence now and seems so joyful where before she was angry and fearful all the time. I am so encouraged and will continue to work with her using the tools and tips Lucas has given me. Becky Hull Richardson

If there was an option of no stars I would select it. I am just infuriated with our experience with K-9 We boarded our Great Dane for 2 week obedience school. When we picked him up he was underweight, green mucus, foul odor and feces behind his ear. I was told they had just bathed him and they just discovered green mucus. He did not seem bathed to me he stunk, and had feces on him.
We knew the minute we saw our pup he did not look right, the trainer insisted in giving us a run through though. Once we picked him up we took him to the Emergency Vet and they provided him antibiotics and started on lab tests. The vet was concerned because from her knowledge he had been sick for a while. Our dane was sick for a week and half. We had to take him to the vet again after a week because he was getting worse, they took chest X-rays and he was diagnosed with kennel cough, lower respiratory infection and pneumonia and other virus that I did not think dogs could get.
My dane has a clean history we provide him nothing but the best. We have not seen much change he will obey to sit, but he still has issues obeying etc. PLEASE do not take your loved pets to this place. They do not care and just want your money. We are now 4,000 in boarding/vet bills! We trusted this place to take care of our pet and they failed. We will not be taking our dog back not even to finish the obedience training. Please save your money and go else where.

This place is horrible. Due to a family emergency we had to find a last minute place to take our dog for the week. We read on yelp that K9 had good reviews so we figured we'd check it out. We should have known that they weren't the best option when they didn't offer to let us look around at what would be our dogs living quarters for the next week.
When we went to pick him up he was "given a bath" which was literally him being hosed down, there was no scrubbing because he had feces stuck to him (which made us question if he was living in his own filth all week) and he had a bad case of kennel cough. When they returned him to us, after his "bath", they returned him wet and shaking. Do not take your pet here, they clearly don't care about taking care of animals properly.
