Services
Petropolis first opened its doors in 1988 thanks to Dr. Paul Schifano and Hannelore Bugby. Dr. Schifano's goal was to create the nation's first all-inclusive pet center servicing every pet's needs "all under one woof." Over the years, we've evolved with the times and adopted the force-free philosophy that make us the business we are today.
At Petropolis, pet empowerment is at the center of everything we do, especially for our dog daycare. Our trained staff creates the safest environment possible to reduce any stress or anxiety your dog may have. We cater to each dog's individual needs and are constantly monitoring changing behavior. Our unique, enriching socialization opportunities help your dog to grow their confidence!
Cat boarding doesn't have to be stressful. At Petropolis, your feline friend can enjoy a spacious, quiet boarding space far from the hustle and bustle (and far away from dogs!). Let them relax while you're away, and come home to a happy, enriched cat. Are you a crazy cat parent? Don't worry; so are we!

My Buster is very well loved by the staff. They try the best they can to make sure he is safe and that he doesn't hurt any of the other dogs. Its amazig that they are able to control as many dogs as they do. It's pretty expensive but worth it. No other day care in the area even comes close. I can watch him play on the live feed and see how he is interacting with the other dogs. The staff sends me texts and gives me updates. He is exhausted when he gets home. We are punch card holders and are buying our second one shortly.

The staff were very friendly and helpful from the first time I spoke with them on the phone until we picked up our babies from being groomed. They did an amazing job! Our dogs seemed so happy after being well taken care of and the grooming staff actually listened to my request and did not shave all of the hair off of my dogs to just "be done"! We definitely will be going back to Petropolis and checking out their other services.

The staff at Petropolis are wonderful! They communicate effectively and are very easy to work with to set up appointments and get everything taken care of! I dropped my dog off first thing in the morning for grooming! I consulted with the groomer and they did such a great job on her summer cut! She looks so perfect! Thank you!

We decided to try Petropolis for grooming our Huskies and check in was quick and easy. Nice spacious reception area. They did a beautiful job on our fur babies! They have been getting groomed somewhere else for the last 3 years and so far we are very pleased that we tried Petropolis. We will definitely take them there next time too and see how it goes.
I think it's the best business in that building that's been there! There were so many different breeds playing in the yards. They were all having so much fun. All in all, a good first impression on us. We definately recommend giving Petropolis a try for your fur babies!

Jackie used to groom my dogs at her previous place of employment and she always did a fantastic job. So when I got my current service dog (2 y/o Bernese Mountain Dog), I knew exactly who I wanted to be his groomer. As always, she didn't disappoint and he looks fantastic. Her tight booking schedule should speak volumes to Jackie's incredible abilities as a groomer. As long as I have dogs, she will always have a repeat customer.

Definitely a 5 star experience. Our pup was very shy and they put in a lot of time with him to acclimate him to the facility. The staff advocated for him and ultimately decided he was not quite ready for group play so they let him play in a yard on his own so he could have some fun and still run around with the staff present. The outdoor space is amazing. Dogs can be dogs and run and play. They took great pictures and kept in touch throughout the day. We will definitely be back.

We were first time guests of Petropolis St Charles. From setting up the appointment with asking questions and choosing the right services, the staff was extremely helpful. 2 of my dogs have some anxiety and can show it through aggression, which always gives me some anxiety. The staff assured me multiple times that they work with the pups with positivity and treats and they would not do anything if they felt the dog really didn't want it done.
This attitude, that you can tell they all carry, made me feel so comfortable leaving them for most the day. Not sure I can afford lots of spa treatments for them, but this is definitely our place for nail trims.

EXCELLANT FACILITY. Adopted my Callie in September of 2020. She is a rescue and "didn't know how to dog". Brought her in to daycamp to socialize. First visit was an assessment on her history and personality. She was eased into on what she what was comfortable with. She goes to camp often and can't wait to get out of the car when we pull into the parking lot.
I had to board her and it was the same experience. Caring wonderful staff. When I bring her home from daycamp, she is a tired and happy pup. It's like I don't have a dog on camp day. She gets home eats and goes to bed. Sleeps with her paws going and tail wagging. Thank you staff!

The staff love and remember my girl. She is happy to see them every time too. I love their training strategies and the reward based tactics they use. It's been a year since my girl finished training. When we are around other dogs I'm always proud of her behavior and how well she listens and still learns new commands. I highly recommend training, daycare and grooming.

I've taken my Great Dane for training a few years back. They trained her to give people hugs while on day care and now she does it to everyone years later. Not a fan since she can knock someone down. Also she is terrified of large trash trucks m. When she was a puppy, she was out at the doggie day camp when the loud huge truck came right by the camp and it forever scared her.
Currently I do go to Sarah Sullivan for grooming my Great Pyrenees, I have gone to her three times now. She does a good job with her. I remind her each time when dropping her off, no shaving and no cutting. She listens and does a great job with my girl. I recommend Sarah, not Petropolis.; If she ever relocates, we will follow.

Think twice about trusting your furry friend with Petropolis. Our eight month old puppy was left alone for most of his stay, had very little exercise and stimulation, and went without water for long periods of time. We ended our trip early to remove him from these conditions. Details: We boarded our puppy at Petropolis in Chesterfield and signed up for group play sessions for all three days.
He spent the first day in the room alone until I called. I was told he was "missed" and would be taken outside immediately. He had 15 minutes of group play and 20-30 minutes of 1-1 time before returning to the room. I called again and spoke with a manager who admitted fault and had someone do another 1-1 session with him, but he still spent most of the day alone which is not what we signed up for.
The second day he went out for group play in the morning but was once again in his room most of the afternoon. I didn't call this time because I was concerned that they would get annoyed and ignore him even more. When we arrived to pick him up, there was no water in his bowl. I was told they only fill water at certain times. 6 am and 12 pm were the relevant ones.
He had two bathroom breaks in that time, but no one checked his water so he had one (small for him) bowl in six hours. This alone is cruel for a puppy who is used to unlimited water as recommended by our vet. None of the dogs were taken out for play that morning because "the temperature was in the 30s and their heaters can't keep up." I was not told about this stipulation when I made the reservation.
If none of this has dissuaded you and you care about group play, you might want to inquire about winter when the temperature is regularly in the 30s or lower. I requested a call from the facility manager to share our experience. I finally got a call two days later from the manager for the St. Charles location who could only say she would "look into it." She didn't offer to follow up and let me know why our dog was neglected in their care but did ask that we give them another chance, which is ridiculous.
If you are concerned about hydration, exercise, and stimulation, take your dog elsewhere. If you want to feel like you're getting a deal, this place is great. the estimate will be high but once they take off the things you signed your dog up for but didn't receive, you will save money. To top it off, our puppy came home with kennel cough.

Don't be fooled by the nice workers at this location. I dropped off my dog today at 8am, couldn't pick him up until 6pm (closing). When I went inside to pick him up at 5:00 because you would think he would be done by then since I dropped him off about 9 hours ago. Nope, they told me "he's next!" So, i waited in the car for an hour and then I finally got a text that he was ready to be picked up. Also, when he got home from most likely being stuck in a kennel all day, he ran to his food and water and didn't leave it for 5-10 minutes. If you are going to keep a dog in a kennel all day then the least you could do is give the poor dog some food and water. Honestly just ridiculous.

We got our kitty Dobby a little earlier than planned and had a vacation to go on with her only being a few months old. We were so scared to bring her anywhere and just wanted to make sure she was safe and loved. Bringing her to Petropolis made us feel so much better and we were able to get updates while she was gone and loved it! We could tell Dobby really enjoyed being there and the staff was so kind and caring. Thank you guys for everything!

If you have a poodle or some type of doodle, do NOT go here for grooming. They do not know how to properly groom a doodle and cover up their laziness by having you sign a form of consent to cut the doodle short. Cutting short and shaving down completely are different things. Nails were clipped but not filed. My poor puppy had matted hair on her legs and top of her head but the rest of her body was perfect and only needed to be trimmed.
Instead of calling to discuss what the plan was to cut her hair and see what we would have preferred, they went ahead and shaved her down completely. If you do choose to go here please make sure to let them know to call you before they shave your dog completely. If we would have been notified that they were going to shave her down completely we would have picked her up after the nail clipping and skipped the haircut.

We personally went to the St Charles location for a visit and we were offered a complimentary orientation for the next day by a "specialist" named Alex. We subsequently elected not to leave our two small dogs for orientation. We heard nothing from Petropolis about it until *forty minutes* before the close of business the day before boarding was to begin. Ashley called to say that we would not be allowed to board our dogs because they had not had a "mandatory" day-long orientation. However, if we agreed to skip a day out of town and bring our dogs for orientation on Friday they would *consider* boarding them Saturday, but it was "strongly suggested" we needed to have a backup plan in case they felt our dogs did not respond to boarding in a way they felt appropriate.
When I explained that we would be missing an entire day out of town, Ashley said she was sorry, in such a way as to make very clear she was not at all sorry, and said someone should have told us it was mandatory. I will never recommend this place to anyone or let an opportunity pass to relate this story to every dog owner I know.

The staff there seem super nice, but we were quoted at the beginning of our dog's stay as being around $450 for the entire stay. We get back and the bill is $771 nearly double what we were quoted. We called twice in the 9 days he stayed and never once were we told he was so anxious that they moved him into a quieter space. We were told he was doing great and just seemed nervous was all.
Only giving 2 stars because they didn't charge us for the quieter space they put him in, but even after getting my receipt the numbers aren't adding up why everything was nearly double what I was quoted.

I have a 125 lb Bernese Mountain Dog. My regular groomer retired. When going to Petropolis, I specifically requested a groomer that specializes in big dogs especially Bernese Mountain Dogs. I made an appointment at least two weeks in advance. When I showed up, they switched groomers. Then my old groomer spoke with the groomer at Petropolis to explain what has been done in the past.
It took eight hours to finish grooming. When I picked up I could tell he was crate dried which I specially asked for hand dried. He was still damp. His nails were not trimmed. His coat was not shiny, uneven under carriage furnishings uneven, foot pads, trim hocks, chest wasn't dry all the way. Very upset.

We were offered three free "puppy Wednesday" daycare visits. We only used two and when I went to redeem the third they said we already used them all which wasn't true. Between daycare and boarding, we have spent well over $1000 in just a few months so to push this issue with a customer doesn't seem like a smart business move. In addition, I picked up our puppy two different times to find that she hadn't been fed. I wrote an email about these issues but I haven't heard a reply in almost a week. There are better places that appreciate customers and understand building trust.

Wow! What an amazing place! This was one of the first times having to board our dog and we always get worried and sad about having to leave him, but from the moment I walked into Petropolis I was instantly comfortable and so was my dog! :) Everyone was SO nice and kind and they really made me feel at ease! They asked me all kinds of questions on how to make my dogs stay more enjoyable and I felt like they really cared about making sure he was going to have a safe and joyful time! ( checking to make sure he didn't have any allergies and seeing how he was with other dogs) We picked up our dog up last night and he looked so happy!. and so clean! It looked like he just came back from a sleep over with a bunch of friends! Hahah Thank you Petropolis for taking such great care of Everest! He misses you all already! :)

We won't be coming back! The first time when I picked up the dogs from grooming, they smelled terrible, like they had only been rinsed and not shampooed. I called and complained about it, and they said they used a scent free shampoo. Fair enough. So I gave them one more chance. This time, I had to send my own oatmeal shampoo so they would come back smelling clean and one of my pups still came home with uneven hair cut around his ear and a mat still in the hair behind his ear.
For $75 per pup I would expect a better job. As for the boarding, we did this once and our pup was trying to get as far away from there as he could. He seemed traumatized by the whole experience. No more.

Please for the safety of your animal do not send them here. I took my sweet dog here and he came back so anxious and sick. I know that they do not take the dogs out often and my dog used the rest room on his bed because they didn't take him out at the right times. They also don't feed the animals at the correct times either. I do not trust this place and if you are thinking about coming here for boarding please don't.

We have used Petropolis for grooming and boarding and could not be happier! This past weekend we left our beloved terrier, Holly, with Petropolis. She came back happier than ever and was even sad to leave! We have also used their grooming and Holly came back well groomed and tail wagging. Now, we ask Holly if she wants to go to Petropolis and she gets super excited and even waits by the door. Coming from Los Angeles, we have a high bar when it comes to pet care and customer service in the pet industry. Petropolis has really blow us away. Laura answered all my questions and addressed all potential concerns before I even thought to ask them.
She felt like a true friend before I even met her in person. I am always cautious leaving our dog overnight but I never worry with Petropolis. This is truly thanks to the care that they give my dog and me. Highly recommended for grooming and boarding.

It's 15 degrees outside and I'm stranded sitting in the parking lot of St. Luke's Outpatient Surgery Center, Why? Because I have my 2 small dogs with me and they cannot go inside the hospital. This shouldn't be happening. Petropolis promised me something that in no way was reality. My husbands surgery was scheduled for 5:30 AM so we checked out of our hotel room, dropped him off at the hospital, then I headed over to Petropolis where on the phone they were great and very accommodating.
They told me it was no problem (and no charge) for early 6 AM drop off, no charge since this would be our first time there and the first day is free. We're from out of town, so this was especially nice. EXCEPT. Nobody on the phone told me that I'd just have to surrender my dogs to some stranger in the freezing parking lot. Nope. They told me on the phone that someone would let me in, we'd have a nice chat, fill out papers. but NONE of that happened. Instead, nobody was at the front, I sat in my car for 10 minutes for any signs of life.
I saw cars going to the side of the building and so I drove over there. This is where they explained to me that they don't open until 7 AM and when I explained I had made arrangements for early "Unlock". I was told by a manager that they would take my dogs, but I could not go in. Well who would agree to that? I don't just hand my dogs over to people I've never met in a parking lot with no idea where my dogs will be staying, zero idea how they will be treated.
This was a deal breaker. I jumped through great hoops on Friday getting all the documents from my vet and I even took my toy poodle in for a vaccine that was required by Petropolis, something she needed anyway, but I had other things to do last Friday when I dropped it all to go get this done just so she could go to Petropolis on Monday morning. There were other places I could have taken them to, but, the nurse at St. Luke's recommended Petropolis.
Trust me, they will not be recommending them from now on. they are shocked at the treatment I received. I am too. So, here we sit in the parking lot, for hours while my husband is inside having surgery. this is beyond horrible customer service on Petropolis' part. I really hate, I'm sorry's. so save it. I know you are open now that it's after 7 AM. but after that treatment, I'd much rather sit in my car knowing my dogs are safe and sound.

I wish I could give them a ZERO! I recently saw an ad for a $40 grooming session for new customers. When I dropped my dog off, I explained how I wanted her to be cut. After 5 hours of waiting for them to call me to come get her, I finally called them. The girl who answered the phone said that they were having problems cutting my dog and she was fighting them.
I thought this was unusual as my dog has been getting groomed every 3 months for the past 5 years so I told them I would come and hold her while they tried to do her face. When I arrived, her whole body was cut except her face! I tried to calm her down but she was already anxious and they told me they needed to stop 'because someone was going to get hurt'.
She looked awful and didn't get any of the services they mentioned - no teeth brushing, no ear cleaning, no anal glands, and they didn't even give her a bath! When I went to leave the building, they told me I owed the $40! I couldn't believe it! How could they charge me when they didn't do anything they were supposed to do! I paid the charge and will NEVER step foot in that place again!
