I've intended to write this review for far far too long. An unbelievable 2 months ago now I adopted a sweet little 10 month kitten known as poppy. I'd come to look at a different kitten and realized very fast they would not be a good fit. Before leaving though the wonderful team Jamie and (name I cannot recall unfortunately) inquired as to why I was looking for in a cat.

They suggested I look at poppy. I met poppy and slowly started falling in love. And I say slowly. The wonderful team at town cats allowed me to sit with her for almost an hour and a half, letting me know I could think about it and come back or adopt her that day. In the end I pulled the trigger and said YES. Best decision I ever made. They offered, at my request, to provide a small amount of her current food and I picked up her current litter.

They also allowed me to come pick up my new little lady love after they had technically closed, to allow me to pick up the last few remaining items from the nearest pet store. Their team also answered my inquiries over the next week about my concerns regarding her transitioning into her new home Poppy, now named Calliope or Caya for short, gets a long amazingly with her fellow 2 human human housemates, and canine and feline housemates, and spends much of her day with her adoptive mother, me. Sweet, affectionate, and brave. She's playful and loving, and spends most of her day trilling quietly about things she'd like me to know. I don't see myself adopting another feline any time soon, but I would suggest town cats as a wonderful place to find a furever friend.

This shelter is so great. The adoption counselor, Nineveh, was so responsive and kind and my cats came out of this place happy and ready for a home. They were house-trained, calm, micro-chipped with my info, fixed, and had all their shots up to date. You cannot go wrong here, they take such great care of cats and will find you the perfect furbabies in no time.

Between my family and I, we've adopted 3 cats from TownCats since 2010. It's a lovely cat rescue shelter with awesome staff and the sweetest kitties. I've been volunteering with TC since 2019 and it's been such a joy.

Great staff. This is a place for people who love cats, run by people who love cats. I adopted one of my cats here and keep coming back to give the shelter cats some playtime and love. The place is clean and well maintained. The animals are healthy and happy. It's heartwarming to know that such group of dedicated people exists.

(The whole is too long for here, you can read it all on Yelp though)Town Cats metaphorically ripped a kitten from my 9 years old arms after telling her IN PERSON, to her face, that he was hers to love. It was simply cruel. And what's craziest about this whole thing, WE FOLLOWED THE RULES. We applied, we showed up first, and were TOLD TWICE that he was ours.

It can't get much more black and white than that. I don't care if someone calls and uses whatever manipulation tactic they can to get you to change your policy, I mean mind. You had already told a child this was her kitten. On that fact alone, he should have been adopted by my daughter. I will NEVER deal with Town Cats again, ever and you better believe I've told everyone the whole story of this nightmare of an ordeal too. We had 7 people from our family there that day to witness this emotional roller coaster and everyone was equally disgusted by the end result. IT WAS WRONG. Period.

Town Cats exceeded all of our expectations and we had an incredible experience adopting our two lovable cats. Their facility has a great area for cats to roam and play. And it's obvious that volunteers, staff, and the vets truly care so much for these cats. We also noticed how well they had trained/worked with them to make great pets. The cats we adopted are so sweet and knew to scratch only their scratching posts, go in their litter box, they love to play, and have been an absolute pleasure.

We worked with Nin who was great! As we have shelter-in-place instituted, she was very patient and took the time to FaceTime my wife and I to see the cats virtually before driving there to adopt. The facility also takes precautions in providing gloves and hand sanitizer. Nin was also very transparent in providing background on the cats and the types of environments they'd be most suitable for. And the adoption process was very smooth. If you're looking to adopt a cat, I highly recommend Town Cats.

It's a very emotional day for me but I know I made the right decision to come to town cat. We got a new house a while ago and the previous owner's cat, Lola, lived under the roof of the empty house for a year after the previous owner passed away unfortunately. So I started to take care of Lola but soon I realized I can't give her a good home that she deserves.

I have a dog and my husband is allergic to cat but Lola is so sweet, she can be someone's lap cat and indoor someday. So I contacted Town Cat. Luckily I met Danielle and her friendly team and she was so patient to answer all my questions, plus I can tell from all the answers that she is a pro, she really cares Lola and they're going to take care of Lola, much more than I can ever do.

So I said goodbye to my sweet Lola today, knowing she'll have a better life and stay safe without living outdoor anymore. Later today I got a call from Danielle and Lola is going great. Funny thing is Danielle found out a few years ago Lola was actually adopted by someone from town cat! So happy that she's really back home! A hard day for me but a good day for Lola. Thank you Town Cat for making good home for cats like Lola. Appreciate what you do everyday to make a difference!

I want to personally thank Danielle for all her hard work and commitment to helping me get a cat rescued. As part of my job, I found myself in the position of trying to figure out how to save a cat from abandonment. Her owner was not in a place to take care of her and I don't know anything about cats. Danielle went above and beyond to help me and get the cat into the shelter. Her personal knowledge and connections were invaluable to me. She truly saved the day for not only this cat but me as well. She deserves a 10+

We adopted our kitty from Town Cats when he was 6 months old. Their facility is easy to find but since it's in an industrial area, the entrance isn't easy to find. No problem though, everyone is very friendly and the cats are very well cared for! Everyone seemed to really know each car's personality. The paperwork was thorough and the adoption process was straightforward. We would definitely recommend Town Cats to friends and family looking to adopt cats/kittens.

Love the cats here! Great people work at the shelter. Hours open to the public and there is always volunteer opportunities.

Town Cats cares! My friend and I have been trying to handle our neighborhood ferals on our own. We were doing trap, neuter, release this summer when the last of the females unexpectedly gave birth to 5 kittens right before her fix appointment. We have already tamed and taken in over 15 cats in the last 5 years and cannot reasonably take care of any more.

I emailed over 50 rescues in and around the bay area and Town Cats was able to help us. They were very kind to us and the kitties, and helped us get their medical done so that they could be put up for adoption. Their center is very clean and fun for the kitties in their care. All the cats were so sweet and happy! You could tell that they really care for the cats and love what they do.

We are really happy that we found them and that they were kind enough to help us! The work that they do is important and makes a difference in the lives of the kitties in their care. If you are looking to adopt a friend for life I would visit Town Cats and meet their fur babies looking for forever homes!

I heard back from towncats the day of my yelp posting. They offered follow up treatment for my cats, but will not reimburse me which is better then nothing, but does not fully satisfy me. I guess Ill take what I can get. As for Sams response I want to correct something she said. I in fact went in person and told someone, I text the woman who I adopted the kitten from, and I called and emailed the director number (who the person I spoke to in person at towncats gave me- who also did not tell me she was off both days) and heard back from the yelp review faster then I did towncats itself. Poor communication within the organization!

I have been a volunteer every Thursday morning for Town Cats since March 9th taking care of kitten and cats at Petco in Morgan Hill. Shortly after volunteering, the one cat resident, Maximus, escaped under my watch. I helped looked for him for 30 minutes and kept checking back until he was found. I was told that this has happened before. Today, I was informed that my volunteer services were being terminated because another incident MIGHT happen.

I believe that's a BIG assumption to make. I'm very hurt by this and will miss taking care of the kittens and cats very much until they find their forever homes. One good thing came out of it. My family adopted the kitten I was fostering. Clawdia is a very new happy member of our family.

To Sam S who said my review is misinformed: you have no idea what we've been through with cats we've adopted. Both times I've contacted Town Cats and in both cases we were told that they had "no idea" that the animal in question was so sick. That's very hard to believe since the animals were obviously ill within a week of adoption.

To date, we've spent over $500 to rid our pets and house of the ringworm infection that came home with the latest cat. Perhaps that's your definition of inexpensive, but I doubt many families can afford it. According to other reviews here, I'm not the first to get sick animals from Town Cats--and doubt I'll be the last. Let's hope Town Cats takes these reactions to heart and rethinks what they're doing for animals.

Very unprofessional. I had emailed as well left a message with the contact number on the documentation outside of the cat's holding cage at PETCO regarding a certain cat we were interested in adopting. A phone call back either way would have been appreciated.

I took in two stray cats that had been abandoned in my neighborhood. I knew I could not keep them because they were 2 neutered males and I had no idea about their health and I didn't want to endanger my pets. I ran into Town Cats at Petco and asked them if they could help me. They told me if I would foster them (which I was already doing) they would provide me vet care for neuter, testing, vaccines and microchipping.

All this was done free to me. Then as soon as that was taken care of I could bring the cats to an adoption fair. I took them to Pet Food Express this weekend and both were adopted the second day to a loving family. I am so thankful to them for their help. They are really caring and gave me the resources I needed even though they are overwhelmed with requests. I can't say enough good things about this organization and their caring people.

My husband and I adopted 2 kittens (originally called Bonnie and Clyde) two years ago from the adoption fair at Pet Food Express, Blossom Hill. The staff couldn't have been more helpful when we were looking at the kittens and cats. Bonnie and Clyde had already been reserved by somone else but after seeing how much we had fallen in love with them, they phoned the person to check if he still wanted them (lucky for us, he had decided against getting kittens!). Pat was fantastic to deal with - she checked on the kittens' histories for us, and even helped us choose food, bedding, and toys for them.

When we took them home they were already well litter trained, and super cute and cuddly - they had obviously been socialised well. Two years on, they are big, healthy cats and we love having them in our lives. We are so happy we adopted them, and pleased to support Town Cats!

After one of my cats passed away in 2001, I looked into adopting another but my husband wanted to wait until the remaining cat passed since he didn't think it would be fair to her to bring in a kitten. It wasn't the correct decision, but that's not the point of this :-) I was looking for another cat and found TownCats, a no-kill shelter of kitties.

I liked the fact that it was fun by volunteers and 100% of the donations went to taking care of the cats, so instead of adopting, I made a donation. In 2007, the time came for us to get more fur babies. I love how the website is like online dating. I can see the cats, read about their purrsonalities, etc. I found one that I wanted, and contacted Rosi via email.

She was very prompt and helped me get pre-qualified before we went to the cat fair to meet our future kittens. We took home Winston and Marina (they were different names, but they didn't mind our changing them). Petfood Express gave us 10% discount. All of the cages were very clean as were the cats. Our cats were very well socialized and knew how to use a litterbox right off of the bat.

When I brought them into our vet, she comped the visit because she supports Town Cats and all of the hard work they do taking care of kitties. Now that my daughter is a teenager, she wants to volunteer where she can with Town Cats, and we're working with the volunteer coordinator, Patti, on that. I've recommended Town Cats to anyone who is ready to adopt a kitty, old or young, and a few of my friends have!

I see from one review that someone has some personal issues with the director awhile ago. It reads like sour grapes to me. I've never met anyone else who fostered for Town Cats who had that experience.

There are many walks of life we encounter on a daily basis. Some people are more outgoing than others, while others not so much. Such is the case with the staff here where some are very outgoing, and the rest would rather focus on just doing their work of keeping up with the furry tenants. What matters is that they all obviously care about the cats.

The place is kept clean, there's plenty of food and water and the cats themselves seem mellow and content. Ideally each would have their own home and person, but until then at least they have a safe place to live.

Thank you town cats! We adopted our first cat ever in March 2008, and they were extremely helpful in the adoption process. They even helped us shop for all the kitty necessities at the local store for half an hour and gave us tons of tips and recommendations! Our little cat is extremely friendly and social, and we're so happy that they were able to help match us to such a well behaved cat.
