Terrible to work with, mt dog had to be euthanized after a year of buying due to so many health issues, Jerry does not want to honor contract and health agreement. Does not return calls at all, has his staff say he is not there when he is. Now having to get an attorney to get things resolved!

Honestly, I would avoid entirely. The dog we received was green, nervous (spun in circles), had accidents in the house, and was immediately obviously not able to follow the commands without the trainer present. We called the kennel same day of arrival and let them know the issues with the dog. They offered to replace. Once I saw how bad the dog looked I was very skeptical of any "replacement" we settled on a refund BUT -i had to pay for shipping back (2k) -i had to wait until "assessment" and resale for any refund -refund would be "only what they could sell the dog for" The kennel blamed us for "ruining" the dog (which we had only had a few months because they had told us when we first brought it to their attention the dog needed to "settle" to be able to work the commands).

I could also not ethically return this neurotic, non working, beaten down dog to some unsuspecting family or agency that the kennel would pass off as a "working" dog. The kennel gave various excuses as to why the dog wasn't working commands - but it came down to the dog was just neurotic and acted like an abused shelter dog with some basic obedience commands.

We eventually realized the deal to ship her back and lose more money and "possibly" get a refund after she was "assessed" for the "damages" and resold. was just a bad deal. The dog was donated to a family who was in need. The dog does not bark for intruders or invasion of home, personal, or vehicle Space. Knock on the door no problem. No barking. The dog does not follow advanced commands.

The dog is not fully house broken. The dog is scared of loud noises such as traffic, trucks, or people. The dog knows basic commands only. She is neurotic around ANY balls (soccer/ football/ baseball), pool noodles, and will go so crazy she will tear off her leash and there is no redirection. The family is unable to take her to public parks for this reason.the dog is not kennel trained.

She spins and has accidents in her kennel. She chews out of soft kennels. She is a neurotic mess! NOT a working protection dog by any means, but fine as a project dog for a family.

Highly Recommend Tarheel canine to someone looking to purchase a companion dog. We purchased our GSD Zeus and after a few months received an amazing well trained and disciplined dog that fits our protection needs. The entire staff was friendly and kept great communication with us throughout the process. Our trainer Carlos did an excellent job with Zeus and in teaching us the ins and outs of our new dog during our couple hour long training session when we brought Zeus home.

Looks like I'm the first to review this place which is crazy because it's awesome! This is a gem of a place. people drive from all.over NC and even out of state all the time. Great training, great communication and great value. We found out about them from a neighbor otherwise we would not have know. posting this so other people know about them. We did the 3 week training and it was a great program for our dog. 5 stars!

I first brought my new GSD to tarheel for a protection dog eval. He didnt necessarily have the drive for it so we put him in for basic obedience. originally, ill spare the details but i recieved him back and wasnt very satisfied. I was in the process of looking for other trainers for him, but Sierra called me up to check up on me and my pup and make sure we were good.

I told her that I wasnt very happy with the training he received. she offered to bring him back and re-train him, did an eval on him and started him where she thought she should- some commands she completely re-started. When I recieved him back i could not be happier. Hes a little soldier and i dont even need a leash to walk him. he heels perfectly shoulder to knee and is spot on with all his commands. I do a 1/2- 1 mile walk with him everyday which allows for maintenance training for us along the walk.

I purchased two different green dogs from them, which were both found to be horribly substandard and had to be returned do to socialization issues. We were not happy with the service whatsoever. The owner was unprofessional to say the least. We took our business to K2 canine solutions nearby and we're completely satisfied 100% with the quality of Canines we received for our money, and the staff were some of the most professional and knowledgeable that I had ever met!

I would highly recommend Tarheel Canine to anyone looking for a place to take their pup/dog for obedience training. My bf and I have sent our three dogs through their training and we couldn't be much happier. I just picked up our GSD pup about three weeks ago and she has changed 180. She now has manners and has calmed down a lot! One of the things I really liked about this place was how on top of things Cierra was regarding my GSD.

I also like that you pay a flat rate for their training and your dog doesn't leave till they (TC) feel that your dog has learned everything even if it takes a few extra weeks. Overall, my bf and I are very happy with our experiences and recommend this place to anyone.

I had an extremely POOR experience with Tarheel Canine several years ago now. My healthy, 75 lb. German Shepherd Dog stayed in their Board and Train program for 7-8 weeks and lost over 1/3 of his total body weight. Additionally, when we picked him up (we came from TN.), he was very skittish and fearful of loud noises (he NEVER had that response prior to staying with them) and seemed to have lost all of his prior confidence.

He had marks on his neck from the electric collar and none of his training "took" unless he was wearing the collar. My dog was examined by my local vet both the day before we took him for boarding and the first day they were open after we returned with him. I have never seen my vet as angry and mad as she was when she examined my dog after we returned.

I acknowledge that others may have had a more positive experience with them since mine, but based on my experience, I would strongly recommend researching other options at this time.
