Certified Master Dog Trainer Frank Verni and staff truly care about dogs and their families and look forward to having the opportunity to teach many more to put their Best Paw Forward! Dempsey, an American Staffordshire Terrier/Boxer mix, is the mascot of Best Paw Forward and also the Verni family pet.
With Best Paw Forward, we have many training services available. The majority of what we do is work with your pet individually in your real home environment, customizing a program of lessons based upon his or her specific training needs. Prices vary depending upon your goals, number of lessons needed, your location, and your dog's personality.
In order for a customized program to be recommended for your dog, you and your dog must meet with your trainer to discuss the goals or problems at hand. Each dog learns at their own pace. Some are more stubborn, others are more eager to please. The evaluation usually takes about 45 minutes to an hour.
When training a dog, it is very important to establish a relationship based upon respect. With the help of Best Paw Forward, dogs can learn to respect humans, but not to fear them. We can help dogs to learn what kind of behavior is expected of them by being their leader or Alpha "dog." The call of the wild: There are many reasons why it's so important for a dog to have an education.

When we got our new puppy, my husband was adamant on hiring a trainer as our last dog was aggressive with other dogs. From the very first lesson, there was an amazing change in Eve's ability to listen to commands and a desire to please. Frank is a great trainer, who taught not only Eve commands but helped us understand her a little better. He included all the family members in the training, and Eve and we were always happy to see him. He gives discounts to rescue dogs, and fit us in whenever we wanted, even having to reschedule for sicknesses and a death in the family. I would highly recommend him!

Working with Frank was, without a doubt, the best money we've ever spent on our golden retriever. We noticed clear improvements in her behavior during and after our four weeks obedience training sessions, and Frank was very patient with both our dog and us. He's very friendly, skilled with dogs, and made it all look easy! But most importantly to us, our dog absolutely loved him, and we have never seen her as happy and proud as when she would receive praise from Frank.
Well worth the money, especially for at-home training, and the private lessons provide a lot of personalization we wouldn't have gotten with group training! 10/10 would recommend.

Frank did an amazing job training our Great Dane puppy, and us. From the initial assessment to his final class and graduation today, Oliver has grown in size and strength. I definitely didn't want a 150+ pound dog that wouldn't listen, and I now have confidence in both him and myself after training with Best Paw Forward. I have already recommended Frank to my vet and to a close friends and will continue to do so.
We will definitely be calling Frank again when we add another puppy to our family, and possibly as Oliver gets older for some agility training. I would highly recommend Frank to anyone that needs help training their canine family members!

I've had an excellent experience with Frank. I have a rambunctious 8-month old Australian Shepherd that had (and sometimes still has) not-so-good manners. He gets excited and wants to jump on people to get all the love he can get. Aside from that, he's a ball of energy that just won't stop. However, his training with Frank has helped me channel his energy into becoming a more well-behaved pup.
With regular practice and techniques taught by Frank, my puppy now has better grasp of commands. I would highly recommend him if you'd like to improve or get started on establishing communication between yourself and your furry friend.

My husband and I learned so much from Frank. He helped us with basic puppy obedience with our now 8 month old Aussiedoodle puppy. We haven't had a puppy in over 15 years, so having Frank guide us over the past 2 months was just what we needed. I would definitely recommend Frank as a trainer. He is friendly, dependable, affordable, and knowledgeable. 5 stars for Best Paw Forward!

Frank did a phenomenal job training our black lab puppy and us! Now we are able to have people over without being mauled by our newest family member. He came highly recommended and delivered on our expectations of having a well trained dog. I would recommend Frank to anyone who wants their dog to interact socially.

Frank is amazing! He helped us train our two large one year old black labs/bloodhounds! He gives you homework which you must do to get great results. Of all the trainers we looked at he has the best prices and actually comes to your house! He's always on time and very professional! If your looking for a great dog trainer he's your man! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Frank is fantastic. We needed a pet assessment done on short notice as part of the foster care licensing process. Frank came to our home to visit with our two dogs and learn more about their temperament. He was flexible in helping us get the documentation that we needed. He was great with both of the dogs and showed up right on time. Highly recommended!

From the minute Frank stepped foot into our home, Baxter was ready to learn all he had to teach. Frank is very gentle, but firm with the dogs and you can tell he truly loves them. The transformation from "wild, crazy puppy" to "playful, attentive and well-behaved puppy" is amazing. Thank you, Frank!

We recently rescued a dog that we wanted to get some basic training with. We had previously worked with a trainer in NY that we had a great relationship with (for another dog). Due to this we provided her a listing of 3-4 trainers we were interested in. She picked Best Paw Forward without any hesitation due to Frank's training/background. We signed up for training (a 5 visit package) that consisted of 5 one hour 1-1 sessions.
Each session was built on the previous one. After each session we received our home work. Frank was very good in explaining why he trained the way he did and responding to our many questions. The training was very straight forward and easy for us to grasp. His only requirements of us were to buy a leather leash, a 20' lead, and have some nice treats ready.
Our dog took to Frank very quickly and did really well with the lessons. Now we have to continue to reinforce the training. We would definitely recommend Frank (and already have).

Frank did a great job training us and our two dogs! We had both ends of the spectrum - a sweet, timid, rescued Lab and a high energy, high focus, GSP. Frank was able to address training needs for both dogs with an efficient and straightforward approach. He taught my husband and I that our dogs had far more potential than we realized and with a little hard work we could have the best dogs in the neighborhood. The difference we've seen already is amazing, they're walking perfectly beside us (no pulling!) and are still learning new things every week. Thank you, Frank!

Frank has a gift! In only a few weeks, our puppy went from jumping, obnoxious, and entitled to in control and wanting to please. Walking her in the neighborhood used to be a challenge: she'd pull my arm and jump on people. Now she heels and maintains her composure even when we pass rabbits, geese, and squirrels.

Frank is fantastic - he got results really fast! Our puppy went from out of control to a pleasure to have around. He built a positive rapport with her very quickly - she loved his visits. Frank's low-key style taught her how to retain her composure and interact with people and other dogs. Before we hired Frank, walks in the neighborhood involved a lot of pulling and lunging at others dogs, animals, and people. Now she heels, even when there are squirrels! Thanks, Frank!

I've owned border collies for most of my life and I'm very aware that without a job or a purpose, a border collie left to their own devices can create chaos. After researching several other dog trainers, we chose Best Paw Forward as our dog trainer because he impressed us with his methodology. 1: It's not really dog training, it's much more about owner training. the dog wants to be a part of the pack and it's up to the human to consistently reinforce good behaviors that the dog wants to do. 2: We have kids and he was very good at teaching our kids good, dog-positive, behaviors.
For example, he taught the kiddos that running around happily screeching was telling the dog "chase me, jump on me and try to duplicate my behavior!" Now, our dog listens to their commands and there's less chaos. 3: There are different training philosophies in puppy training, there's only positive reinforcement, some positive and some negative. he was considerate enough to explain the benefits of each and work his program to respect the training philosophy. 4: He constantly reinforced the "human training" of positive dominance "pack leader" to the dog.
This was his foundation of good training and positive behavior. 5: He was prompt, communicative and very willing to work with our schedules. 6: With his training and guidance, our dog immediately started displaying good behaviors on her own. She'd "leave it" when commanded and being a dog that tends to pull on the leash, she does that so much less, now that she has the expectation and I know how to consistently reinforce/ guide her. 7: after using Best Paw Forward, our border collie is better behaved on her own and has a solid foundation for other training. Would I hire again? Yes Would I recommend? Yes Do I have any cons? Nope Thoroughly satisfied with our experience.

As an allied pet professional, I only refer my clients to 2 trainers in the area, and Frank is one of them. His no-nonsense approach is direct and effective. The couple clients who have used him have seen dramatic improvements in on-leash walking and overall behavior among their puppies. We appreciate his work because it makes working with the dogs so much easier.
I employ pet professionals as well and I had Frank and his team come over for a dog handling seminar with my team recently. The team's feedback was very positive and we'll use him again for advanced training.

So we moved to town with our colossally spoiled dogs, who, until now, have spent their days in relative isolation within the iron clad walls of our former backyard. The backyard of our new home is surrounded on all sides by neighboring dogs, all very friendly and polite and happy to welcome their new neighbors. What I was stunned to learn is that my dogs are horrible neighbors.
They patrol the perimeter of our fence line like we are bordering Afghanistan (they probably weigh 10 lbs combined); barking, snarling, snapping, and this offensive action has dramatically increased tension in the region. We called Frank, at Best Paws and his guidance and patience and nifty little tricks have transformed my canine terrorists into the furry little genteel neighbors I have always known they could be.
I must admit, that the majority of the training that took place was of the, uh, owner. I feel in far better control and more confident that my neighbors might eventually start speaking to me again.
