Wings of the world is an exotic bird store located in Bothell, WA that specializes in a hand-fed baby birds and custom blend foods. We also offer complimentary grooming no matter where you purchased your bird. We strive to provide our customers with a sense of community and a safe place to explore the needs of your pet bird. Our mission is to educate the public and to help maintain exotic birds as life-long pets.
Services
Wings of the World began in 1986 in Kirkland, Washington as a full line Pet Store. Although all types of animals were sold, we specialized in hand fed exotic birds. We bred, hand-fed, and raised several different species of parrots. In 1994, a fire, which was started in the restaurant next door, destroyed the building as well as killing all the animals.
A. Birds are one of the longest living animals and vary depending upon the breed. Finches and parakeets have the shortest life span ranging from five to 10 years (sometimes longer for a parakeet) to the Macaw. The oldest bird on record is a macaw who is currently 108 years of age. A. Surprisingly, birds enjoy eating what you eat.

This store, and the birds they raise, have brought me so much joy I don't think this review can do it justice! If you are considering a new bird, properly hand trained with employees that understand and love birds and are concerned about the ethical treatment of them, this is where you should go. I came in as a new bird owner, and I decided to buy a parakeet.
We didn't notice when we bought him that he seemed flat footed and also seemed to only prefer the floor of the cage. He was energetic and walking around so everyone thought he was fine. Long story short, I brought him back because the store has a 10 day warranty, and they were beyond understanding of the heartbreak of separating with him, but I was anxious that as a new bird owner I would not be able to properly fix his foot (he was a baby so I researched that there was a chance his feet could improve with proper care).
He slept in my arms one of the evenings, that is a memory I will never forget. Flat footed or not he had a wonderful temperament. But anyway, the store took him back for me and I brought home another parakeet that has been a dream come true. The store owner even confirmed with their vet that this one I brought home was healthy and had healthy feet.
Less than a month later the new bird is begging me for scratches, preening me and has no trouble with hands or shoulders. He's absolutely perfect. He even gets along with my boyfriend's Cockatiel!

Lady Gouldian finches have mesmerized me with their striking colours since I first discovered them as a teenager. Wings of the World not only sold me a male and female pair, they were very kind, welcoming, and courteous to me. All of the birds in the store appeared to be healthy, active, and lively. They had baby birds on display that they hand raise, which illustrates how conscientious the owners and staff at this establishment are, as baby birds require consistent, round the clock care. If more places could have the soul, dedication, and warmth that this place does, it would be a better world.

I absolutely love this place! The staff are extremely personable and welcoming. They always take such great care of my cockatoo when I take her to get her grooming. I can't recommend enough if you are looking for a shop that specializes in parrots and cares deeply enough to give you great advice! Thank you, Joan and staff!

I love Wings of the world! We were put on a waitlist for a lutino cockatiel in 2019. Just before COVID hit in 2020, I got a call saying they had some in. I asked if they had any friendly ones as I was getting one for my 7 year old daughter and they said they'd pick their friendliest one. They were not kidding, she loves to snuggle, she loves being out with us, she already knew how to step up and she's such a good bird! We've taken her in for nail trims and they allow us to keep her flighted which is a relief as she loves flying around our apartment.
My daughter always asks to go here now to see all the new babies (and of course ask for more birds), talk to the African Grey residents and even wants to work here once she's older. This place is honestly over 5 stars, I love it!

Went in pretty unsure of what I was looking for, and was greeted and shown around the shop generously. They answered every question I had and then some. They gave so many helpful suggestions and reassured me that they would assist me in all parrot related endeavors even if I chose to buy a bird elsewhere. All the staff I have interacted with have been wonderful. Being at the end of the breeding season they have a waitlist, but they manage the list well and are super helpful in the process as you wait. Great great place.

What an amazing little shop! How much fun! We took an afternoon to come up here from Federal Way. All the employees were so friendly and knowledgeable! One of the volunteers (I feel bad I forget his name) talked to me for a while about Eclectus parrots. He was full of information. He also let me hold his Eclectus, Lucy. This store has great items and excellent prices!
We picked up a couple toys for my sun conure and a few other items (soy bird safe wax melts). I can't wait to visit again! It's so nice to visiting such a welcoming store! Worth the drive for sure!

Most of the 5 stars is for Joan. She is so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful every time I go in to buy food for our parrots or to get our Quaker Parrot's wings and nails trimmed. There is always a guy there holding one of the birds which is nice.it is great that they care about the birds having one-on-one time and attention. Good food selection and decent toy selection. Lots of adorable birds to visit and marvel at.

An absolutely wonderful shop. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and non-judgmental. The *free* wing and nail service is amazing (I would be happy to pay.) was done immediately and professionally (this was a weekday before noon, which might have helped.) It is clear that both the staff and the volunteers love birds. The have a good selection of toys, accessories, bulk food, birds for adoption, etc. If I was looking for a bird to adopt, this would be my first stop - lots of helpful advice, and birds that seem happy and healthy.

I love visiting this place. The staff are very friendly and informative. I adopted my 12 year old African Grey Sterling from them and she's the best thing that happened to me since my children were born. She was plucked completely when I adopted her and the owner recommended a wonderful cbd oil and she has all her feathers back and is a very happy girl. They clip her nails once a month for free so I make sure to by lots of great food and toys there to help support this wonderful place.

I have been coming here for four years, and WOTW is still my third favorite spot to go to (after work and my own home). I have been to bird stores all over Los Angeles, Orange County, Berkeley, Atlanta, and Boston and I have to say this is the penultimate bird store in the USA. Great place to bring a bird that's owned by a friend who can no longer care for it or to re-socialize/train your own out- of -control biter.
If you love birds and you live in greater Seattle, this is a place you need to visit regularly. I can't even imagine how this place could improve! Prices are super cheap, owners are so patient, kind and warm, and the environment couldn't be more pro-bird.

We have been to many bird stores and one of our most enjoyable experiences yet was at Wings of the world. Todd was volunteering and spent so much time talking with us about the different species and the multitude of personalities. We are so excited to get our baby and look forward to many visits to Wings of the World.

This is THE BEST bird store I've ever been to. I cannot rave about it enough. They have great products with customizable feed and treats, friendly staff, and their birds are beauuuutiful. I love that when I went here there was a gentleman that knew all about the birds personalities and could tell us about where the birds came from and the select breeders they used. Beautiful birds with tons of personality and incredibly knowledgeable staff. A+++
