Out of 5 stars? This place should literally only have 1 star as an option due to how piss poor their service is. I traveled all the way from Hoboken to here, having to rent a car fyi. I arrived 5 minutes, yea you read that right 5 minutes late due to traffic and having to get the car. And they denied my poor dog Pablo. I recommend going somewhere else where they have sympathy for their customers and understand that traffic and real life issues do happen. At least wine and dine us first before you **** us.

HORRIBLE place. I wish I could give this place a zero. We made an appointment for an interview here. We rented a car and drove an hour and a half from New York. We were 10 minutes late because of an accident on the highway and some car troubles. When we finally arrived Tara turned us away. In front of a group of people she made a rude comment and didn't even care about our troubles to get there.
Even after explaining our situation- she was cold and rude. I have never had such a terrible experience. I feel we dodged a bullet. I would never want such a rude human being around my dog. STAY AWAY.

I can't thank Tara and Jack enough for what a great job they did taking care of my dog. My dog is a fear aggressive german shepherd with epilepsy and has had issues in the past with being handled by anyone other than me. After my orientation call with Tara, it was clear they were a knowledgable, caring and careful team. Jack was so kind with my endless tears as I dropped my dog off for his first visit and they were able to take him out for every walk, feed him, and give him medication without a hitch for both boarding experiences. I picked him up today after 8 nights and I almost cried seeing how calm and happy he was because I didn't think it was possible. Thank you both!

I learned about this place a couple of years ago. I decided to give it a chance and bring my dog, but I have to say that the experience has been TERRIBLE! Jack is a nice and calm person, but TARA was extremely MEAN and RUDE. If you really care about your pet, I do not recommend this place at all. I do not think this place is a 5 start care center as they promote in their Facebook Page.
I prefer to pay a little more but at the end I know I will be treated with respect and 100% sure that my dog is in good hands. I am giving them 1 star because I can't use zero and I really want people to reconsider this place.

I can't say enough good things about Pioneer Pet Care. No hidden charges, in fact quite the opposite. Our dog is very energetic and gets lots of opportunities to run and be with the other dogs when he's there. The owners will make a point of ensuring that when he will be groomed, it's at the end of his stay so that he comes home looking and smelling his best. Our dog LOVES it here!

Pioneer Pet care is wonderful. We have a fear reactive dog that we rescued 5 years ago. We were very possibly his last chance since he had four prior families who were all wonderful but couldn't live with his issues. If not for Pioneers excellence with Dusty he'd never be able to have the quality of life he enjoys, nor would we! It is a safe and happy place for him to be when we have contractors or guests at the house, or when we have to travel. He is well taken care of, it's exceptionally clean and Tara and her husband are fabulous with him.

Edit: The owner did call me back and apologized for jumping off the phone so quickly as she was taking care of the animals. called to schedule a reservation and the owner was very rude and abrupt. She told me that my dog cannot board there because our dog has been in contact with another dog in the last two weeks. so just know that they will not allow your dog to board here if they have been in contact with any other dog in the last 2 weeks.

We have been using Pioneer for a few years now. I am very impressed with how they care for my pet dog Rocket. He is happy when we get on site and cant wait to go in. They provide very professional care and the kennel is clean and seems to meet my pets needs. When we pick Rocket up to come home he is happy and no stressed. I would suggest this place to anyone who cares about their pets well being.

Owner is rude and disrespectful and will NOT let you get a word in if you need to explain yourself. I hope she sees this, she'll know who I am;). I agree with everyone else who gave them a 1 star rating (or even a negative star rating). Find somewhere better if you can. Lets start off with the very beginning. The first time I came here, this satanic woman yelled at me and my mother because we were missing some paper work. Humans make mistakes, right?
Well according to Tara, I guess not? This woman snapped at us expecting us to sit lightly. Amidst the chaos of travel, we didn't really bombard her with the hate she deserves. However, during another incident, she snapped at us again for calling after her hours. I am VERY well aware that she needs her privacy, but it was an ACCIDENT. She went over it multiple times with us in the past because her home line is connected to her business line, which doesn't make sense in my opinion to begin with, but we occasionally lost track of time while on vacation and called her. Then, this woman has the audacity to say we don't respect her privacy at all, even though this was a mere accident.
For one woman, GET A NEW LINE. Second, you don't have to be so snarky thinking you're all that when clearly you are not. Moral of the story: RESPECT HER PRIVACY! SHE'S BIG ON THAT! Or else she will quite literally find ever excuse to rip you apart for no reason. Finally, she drew the last straw. yesterday evening I saw her missed call at 4, and I got back to her past her hours.
I usually do not write bad reviews, but Tara is absolutely impossible to work with. I understand that COMPLETELY it is her personal time, however, yesterday was a different scenario. I thought she had to get back to me in urgency as I did not see her call, so I gave her a call back. She SNAPPED back without even giving me a chance to explain myself.

After heavy consideration, the line has to be drawn. She has lost our business, and quite frankly, never really had our respect. Do better woman, it'll help. You said over the phone that you replied nicely? Nah, that's not really your nature.

So I don't know what people are talking about. My dog is a 100 pound German Shepherd and literally hate everyone. We are the only people, his family, along with his behavioral vet, that are allowed to handle him. This wife and husband team were allowed not only to get near him, But to walk him as well. My dog instinctually knew they were good.
I called and got a FULL description of how my dog was doing, especially since we never had to board him before. They were compassionate with my pet but were to my family as well to make sure ALL his needs are met. Which they were. Thank you!

OK, to be fair, I haven't left my pet here, but I feel like I dodged a bullet. My regular kennel (All American Pet Resorts, who we love) was booked up, so based on the recommendations on NextDoor, I checked out Pioneer. This is a family-owned place, and Tara took me for a tour and explained their philosophy. While she talked about how they put the pets' comfort first, and the "state of the art" systems, when I observed was a somewhat outdated bunch of runs, much like you would see at an animal rescue place.
Some folks who are animal people are not great with humans, so I allowed for some space for her people skills. Her manner is direct and officious. Still, they had room to take my dog on the dates I needed, and seemed to be OK with his special needs, so I left a deposit and crossed my fingers, but was still not 100% comfortable in my gut. Three days before our trip, my regular kennel called to tell me they had a cancellation and could take our dog.
Though it was Sunday (and the Pioneer office is "closed"), I called right away to cancel, wanting to give them as much notification as possible and intending to leave a message. Tara answered, then proceeded to tell me that if it wasn't an emergency, to call tomorrow (so. let it go to voicemail?) I explained that I was calling to cancel (and was about to say that I had been planning to leave a message) and she interrupted with "OK, you're cancelled" and hung up. OK, I knew I wasn't going to get my deposit back, but wow. We won't be back.

This is a family owned kennel. The mother used to run it, she has retired and given it to the daughter. The daughter is rude and obnoxious. She is a snapper and gets irritated when you ask her or tell her small things about your pet. Last time we had our dog there she was covered in poop. There was no reason given and we just wanted to take our dog home to make her comfortable. The daughter needs to treat customers with respect otherwise she will have an empty place on her hands.

I've been using Pioneer for 5 years. Love them! Now their daughter has taken over and she and her hubby truly know how to take care of our dog. Special care can be given, and we have a special needs dog (3 legs, fear/aggression issues) who is always happy to go there. Wouldn't take my dog anywhere else.

We've been a part of the Pioneer Pet Care Pack since 2010 and always have peace of mind when leaving our furry family members in their care. Read through the website, schedule an on-sight visit, then you'll see how and why they are different. It's not for everyone, but many will recognize it's the right choice for them. If there was a 4.5 rating, they'd get it from me!

We have an adopted dog with severe fear aggression issues. We had to board him for a few days, and we're so glad we found Pioneer. We didn't think we'd ever be able to put him in a kennel, but he did very well staying there, and now that he's back home, he shows no signs of trauma from being left in an unfamiliar place. And if we want to get away for a longer trip, we feel confident he'll be okay there.

We have never experienced such a bad attitude towards customers, the owner is down right Nasty she is Vicious yelling and rude to us while telling us about her policy, so we went elsewhere and the owner there told us she's heard horror stories about Pioneer- charging unauthorized service like bathing- bedding and other hidden charges.
