My dog, Callie, who is a miniature pinscher has a common form of cancer that causes growths. Dr. Phoenix at Fort Hunt and all the staff took GREAT care of her. They performed extensive and delicate growth removal (7 total) for my girl and it was a big procedure for such a small dog. The procedure went great and the post operative medication regime has been perfect to manage her pain and temperament. I can't say enough good things about their care and concern for my dogs. Thank you, Fort Hunt!

Today has been the third or fourth time I have been left waiting for half an hour after my appointment time in exam room in the past couple years. When the vet tech checked in, she noted that she "didn't know when the doctor would be finishing up." After some less than ideal experiences at Fort Hunt Animal Hospital (my dog was bit by another while under the supervision of the kennel staff when he was younger), he has immense anxiety when being there, so waiting times 3x the length of the actual time spent with the vet are not ideal.
When the vets are present, they provide quality care, but I am asked multiple times leading up to the exam to confirm my appointment time and I would appreciate, within reasonable standards, for the vets to reciprocate this. Situations like this are not only trying for the human pet owners, who have to leave work, find child care, etc. but also in my case, very stressful for the animals they aim to care for.
I can appreciate the difficulty of staff shortages and how that limits the availability of appointments, but once an appointment is made, the vets should make them a priority, particularly when I have not seen a decrease in the cost of the services provided.

During this difficult time with veterinary clinics, FHAH has continued to take care of our two pups. The docs, techs and staff keep us up to date on our pets' needs and have helped them through tough gastric and seizure issues that have begun over the past few months. We are grateful for all they do.

Edited: Have been coming here for 6 months now. I am always very impressed by the staff. They're honest and always want the best for my dog. They are not like some of the other vets I've been to that always try and upsell you on something. Have had good experiences here with our dog! The staff were all friendly and handled our doggo with professionalism and respect.

Only issue is staffing. But doctor Phoenix takes time with her patients and explains options for every situation. I never seen that kind of care before. Along with Roxanne and Kelly that give nothing less than 110% in supporting the pets. The only issue is they seem to be very short staffed at times. But the care seems to make up for it and the wait.

This is my dogs primary vet, the doctors I speak with on the phone are super nice. They are good about telling me what might need to be done in the future and always treat my dog really good (He is always excited to see them). The only thing I don't like is calling and speaking to the people that work the desk and schedule appointments they answer the phone rude with an attitude.

I couldn't recommend FHAH more highly! As a first time pet parent, Dr. Bradley and each vet tech/nurse take extra time and care to make sure I know exactly what's going on with my cat each time I take him in for a check up. They check in after each appointment to make sure he's doing well, they are responsive and helpful whenever I have questions, . their services are fairly priced, and they even have my little guy's favorite snack (cheez wiz) for his appointments to help him from being afraid. I will never go anywhere else as long as I'm in the area and suggest you bring your pet here too.

I am a foster for a local cat rescue and can't say enough kind things about how my foster kittens are always treated at this practice. My kitties always seem to end up cared for by Dr Phoenix and I really can't speak highly enough of her. She's cared for them through spay/neuter surgeries as well as multiple rounds of illness -- always the best care and it is quite obvious how much she cares for her patients. We appreciate you!

I full heartedly recommend Fort Hunt Animal Hospital for the care of animals. Dr. Phoenix is an amazing veterinarian that you can trust to care for your pets. Over the last several months, she has gone above and beyond for my cat Dizzy when she was experiencing many different symptoms of illness. She went out of her way to research special diets. for a working diagnosis of pancreatitis.
She checked in with us often, and truly cared about the health of Dizzy. She answered my frantic emails, and approached us with such sympathy when things were not looking good. The office staff are also exceptional. Anytime I called with a question, I could tell they were familiar with Dizzy's struggles, and.

Our 3 year old female dog went in for a spay. *Please note* if you are not spaying a young puppy, you'll probably inccur the same "complex surgery" fee. We were charged double what was expected due to the "complex spay", to pay upon pick up. The doctor called the next day apologizing and said it was her fault the unexpected fees were added on and she didn't mention during our post-op call.
Staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The only negative would be the [hidden] extra fees on top of the very expensive services offered. I asked pricing questions every step of the way, to include 3 phone calls from the doctor confirming a $39 x-ray and despite my diligience - I still paid double what was expected. This was also combined with the spay/neuter voucher for reduced services. Overall, we would go back in an emergency, but not for any routine services.

I can't thank Dr. Barker enough for helping me through such a difficult time when putting my 18 year old dog Wee pup down. She was incredibly kind and sensitive to all my needs. I will never forget the sweet word of reassurance she shared with me. This is truly an incredible place and I can highly recommend it.

I think Fort Hunt Animal Hospital is an excellent place. I was so impressed by Dr. Barker's knowledge and how she discovered what is ailing my pet when another hospital could not put their finger on various issues. I am very depressed to learn my senior cat has the early stage of renal kidney disease, but at least Dr. Barker caught this early so. I'm so glad I went to her for a second opinion, and now plan to stay with them.
It was nice we were a 2 minute drive to the other place, but I much prefer knowing we are in great hands than just having a shorter commute. Thank you so much, Dr. Barker. You explained so much and I wish I had a Dictaphone so I could play it back at home since I was in shock after you told me the news and I don't think much sunk in but I will be back for further tests just like you told me and thank you again. I hope we have at least another good year with our 15 year old cat, and maybe 2+. All the best to Fort Hunt, now and forever!
