For over 17 years, Doggy Workout has provided dog walking and dog boarding services to Alexandria VA. Our most popular service now is the Dog Playgroup. Dogs will get a full hour of high energy play in a private 14,000 square foot fenced yard. Since the start of the business in 2004, we have always strived to provide exceptionally caring, dependable service for your dogs at highly affordable prices. Much like a human fingerprint, no two dogs share the same noseprint. One company is using this information to help locate lost dogs.
Services
In 2004, I was working in Old Town and was looking to make a little extra income. I frequently spent lunches going home to walk my dog, when a coworker mentioned that people made a living providing that service. It was definitely an exciting thought! Things started slowly, which was all I could handle with another job.
The playgroup area is over 14,000 square feet. This wide space allows dogs to run at their full speed. A few laps around, and dogs are lying down panting! You can compare this to the largest rooms in most doggy daycares in Alexandria, which are usually under 1,000 square feet. The image above shows this comparison.
They get to spend tons of time playing in my yard (and I'm out there with them every second!). As you can see, they'll get tons of time to play in the yard and wear themselves out. The rest of the day they're hanging out with me inside and getting all the attention they crave. If they're lucky, they'll get to hear me play some really awful piano.

SO glad we found Doggy Workout! We had been burned by a previous doggy daycare, so we were very picky in finding a new place for our energetic Jack Russell terrier. Well, our crazy pup has been going to playgroup for nearly 5 years, and by now Robert is like family. He's always willing to go above and beyond to make sure our fur baby is getting the very best care. Can't recommend him highly enough!

Doggy Workout is a blessing. I've used Doggy Workout's playgroup option four days a week for more than a year. Robert's operation is seamless: your dog barks in glee when Robert shows up, Robert silently ushers your dog out, and then a few hours later your dog reappears, happy, tired, and healthy. If you're going out of town for a weekend, Robert will keep your dog over without hassle.
Once a month you credit card is charged the eminently reasonable agreed upon price. It is so simple and frictionless. In short, Doggy Workout provides much needed peace of mind that my dog is getting exercise with his best pals in a sunny and safe outdoor environment, supervised by someone who knows and cares about my dog. This is a completely stress-free service that I wholeheartedly recommend to any dog owner.

We're so lucky to have found Doggy Workout. We knew when we moved to Alexandria our energetic labradoodle needed to get real exercise (something more than a walk) on a daily basis, but we hated the idea of sending him to an indoor center. I could not possibly provide a stronger recommendation for dog care than for Doggy Workout! Robert, the owner, has been walking my dog and taking her to playgroup for 8 years. Our dog LOVES Robert and jumps out the door to play group! Robert was also our reliable walker for our previous dog. My husband and I are regularly grateful for Doggy Workout's reliability & availability, and also his responsiveness if we need to communicate about a change in our plans or a health issue with our dog. Doggy Workout is amazing! I have been a client since the business started and my dogs have gotten consistently excellent care. Robert is knowledgeable, patient, friendly, and delightful to work with. My pooch, Wilbur, LOVES going to playgroup and boarding with Robert - he literally runs into Robert's arms. He helped me when I was trying to adopt a very troubled dog and went above and beyond to work with the dog, who was eventually determined to be just too damaged to be adopted by anyone.
He was also very compassionate when my previous dog, Lucy, was dying of cancer. Robert is professional; his business is very well run, and his skill working with the dogs in his care is excellent. He "gets" dogs! I highly recommend this business.

I've used Robert and Doggy Workout several days a week and for many overnights since I adopted my dog Oliver (he's in some.of the pics) more than 5 years ago, and I cannot say enough good things! My dog loves going to the play sessions with his friends and always comes home happy. Robert is super trustworthy and reliable and Oliver loves him!

Robert has been visiting our dog since she was a tiny puppy. It has now been more than four years of regular walks. We have always been very pleased. Robert is consistently very responsive to scheduling changes and etc. In four years he has never gotten a number wrong on a bill -- even when we have last-minute canceled, added, and rescheduled numerous times in a month.
He was originally recommended by a friend who used him sitting and was very pleased that the dog was treated like part of the family when there. Several of our neighbors use Robert now -- some on our recommendation. In addition to sitting, walks, and belly-rubs, he runs a mid-day playgroup that is very popular in our neighborhood.

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! Our dog Joey loves going to her midday playgroups. Robert picks her up and drops her off from our house while we are at work and we return home to a happy, exercised pup. We have taken her to several doggy daycares and this has been the best fit by far! We are moving out of his service area and are sad we can't take him with us.

I had Doggy Workout watch my cats while I was out of the country. After researching the local options, I found them to be the most flexible and least expensive. Everything went smoothly and the cats were happy and healthy when I got back. I will definitely use them again and recommend them to anyone who wants a low-cost no hassle service.

Personable, affordable, and effective. I don't often need a dog walker since the bf works from home, but when he is out of town, Doggy Workout is my go-to for dog walking services. The owner Robert is nice as pie. He makes a point to promptly respond to every question and concern I may have, and came to the initial consultation with my assigned dog walker.
The dog walking itself is great--dog walkers leave a report card telling you how your dog did and how long they walked the dogs. They happily meet any special requests you might have as well. My dogs are very high energy and our dog walker Troy handles them with no problem. Doggy Workout gives me great peace of mind while I'm at work during the day. And it's great coming home to calm pups at night!
