Hillside Animal Hospital

The employees are very pleasant and professional, however, in my opinion, the owner, Brad Rosonke, is unprofessional as it speaks directly re conducting himself with me, in relation to an incident where my puppy did not receive the proper attention & care, hence suffering pain & discomfort. He refused to acknowledge his staff had, in my opinion, unintentionally improperly injected my puppy with a rattlesnake shot, resulting in a huge lump coagulating in his spinal area. Rosonke refused initially to drain the lump, as it had grown appreciably in size over a two week period & did not dissipate as his staff had so noted when first advised of the problem, within days of the injection having been given.

I had to demand Rosonke, responsible & liable, as the owner, to drain the liquid from my puppy's spinal area, which was done & a tube then inserted in his shoulder area for draining purposes. Because I had my puppy's best interests at heart, Rosonke CANCELLED us as clients. Should note, I have a wealth of medical experience, over more than 40 years, having invented major medical devices, including the delivery of soft drugs by injection.

In my opinion, Rosonke, does not listen to constructive critiques & in this particular situation, from a client with more medical experience than Rosonke re the injection process of soft drugs, or, vaccines. He has yet to reimburse me for the improper injection given my puppy that resulted in pain & discomfort. Some fluid still remains in the spinal area& we're bringing our puppy to another vet for X Rays to ascertain if additional medical treatment is required. Rosonke, in my opinion, is unprofessional in terms of being understanding to client's concerns for their pet when the veterinary office errs in a procedure. In conclusion there is NO medical, clinical evidence supporting rattlesnake shots are beneficial should your animal be bitten.

Always professional and caring towards our furry children! Never any problems and always follow up calls to check on our babies. Thank you.

I have gone to hillside animal hospital for about 16 years. Dr. Rosanke has been the vet to 6 of my ferrets over 14 years, one cat and 3 of my dogs. They have always provided each and every animal with the best possible care from the beginning of my pets life until the very end. They are extremely knowledgeable in all my pets illnesses and any procedure they would need. Additionally, they really helped to diagnose valley fever early in one of my dogs.

I would recommend Dr. Rosonke or Dr. Council to anyone who wants their pets to have the very best care! I drive over 40 minutes to continue to use this vet, that is how much I value the care they provide my fur babies!

Dr. Rosonke has been extremely patient and loving to my Rottweiler Jackson. I greatly appreciate the love and compassionate that this clinic has showed to my boy over the past month, while he gets through a frustrating situation. The front staff is always in good spirits, and can always get me in timely. Gayle, the vet tech, who guided me through Jackson's surgery was so sweet and helpful to put me at ease but more importantly, she was calming to my dog. I know every concern and question I have will be addressed and truly feel they care for my boy. Thank you to the staff and Dr. Rosonke for the love you give Jackson.

Had a pet related emergency and my normal vet was closed. Called Hillside Animal Hospital (Lauren) and although booked solid she spoke to Dr. Council who didn't hesitate or balk at providing medical treatment. Everyone in the office was exceptionally friendly and professional. They were doting on Gizmo (Boxer) and provided excellent medical care. As animal owners, this is the type of compassionate care we're looking for when entrusting our dogs/cats in their time of need. Thank you Lauren, Heidi and Dr. Council!

Simply THE BEST veterinarian service in the valley! Everyone is extremely compassionate and welcoming and you can tell everyone working here is very dedicated to the health and wellness of your fur babies! My dog Bonsai LOVES coming in here and seeing Dr. Council or Dr. Rosonke. They are both extremely wonderful and helpful highly compassionate veterinarians.

You simply just can't get that kind of service and care anywhere else. I've been to so many different veterinarians in the valley and they are at the top of my list. Super personable and they will treat you like FAMILY! It doesn't get any better than that! Thank you guys so much for everything that you have done for Bonsai and I. Our chocolate lab Polly Sparkles helped raise three kids and made it to age 14 with loving and smart care but today we had to put her down. Dr. Council and staff handled this challenging event with dignity, care and technical excellence. Thank you, Doc. Sorry for the unmanly sniffles. :-

Hillside is always there at any moment for my cockapoos. We have been having some tummy and back issues and when I call, they get me in immediately. They really do care for our pets as their own. Simply the best group of doctors, tech and front desk

Over the top amazing vet and staff! We had a very sick 3 yr old yorkie - Dooley and when we called they saw him within 15 mins. Thank you Hillside. Even better I emailed them about 3-4 hrs after seeing Dooley and they followed up the next morning! Our new vet and techs will be hillside.

We all say our furbabes are special (because they are duh!), but the staff at Hillside's service & care for my dog Daisy was as if she was part of their family also. She's a rescue and can be very fearful but it was obvious she felt safe with them & that speaks volumes! She's been back several times and moving forward it will be the only place we go for her care. Hillside has been and will always be our number one choice for anything going forward! When our dog tore both of her Cranial Cruciate Ligaments they were super helpful in getting her in, examined, and fixed back up into proper shape! Dr. Rosonke and the rest of them team were there to answer any questions we had and did so in the friendliest way that it made us feel like we were part of the family! I would recommend Hillside to anyone for their animals with the upmost confidence that they will treat you and your family like their own!

Hillside Animal Hospital Just as in personal relationships, sometimes you have to leave a business to understand fully the positive impact it has had on your daily life. After 18 years in Fountain Hills, we relocated to Central Scottsdale and decided to move from Hillside Animal Hospital, our long-time veterinary practice. I investigated several local alternatives, researched reviews and counted on recommendations from friends.

Two visits at a new practice and more than $1600 later, we knew what a mistake we had made. Veterinarians at this high-volume clinic were impatient with questions, seemed perpetually rushed, and also appeared oddly removed from the companion animals in their charge. Back we went to Hillside and hope never to leave again. This practice is not inexpensive, but it is exceptional. Dr. Nicola Council and Dr. Brad Rosonke are dedicated, highly skilled and simply wonderful with clients and pets alike.

No question goes unanswered, no concern is ignored. Unlike many practices, Hillside also boasts technicians and staff who have remained with the practice for many years. And with more in-house diagnostic equipment than many small animal hospitals, answers to potential health issues are often available quickly. So, hats off to Hillside Animal Hospital. We won't be leaving you again!

This is the best Veterinarian you could ever hope to find. Our Sammy got sick this morning and they told us to bring him right in. They diagnosed his problem right away and sent him home with us with medication. Dr Council and Dr Rosanne love, him as much as we do. It is so comforting to go there. The techs are wonderful there, they are like our family. From the front desk receptionist to the Drs and all the technologist a great place to take your pet.

As nice as can be about telling you what they have already done, and then giving you the Bill. No consultation prior to treatment. Wouldn't bring my dog out until I paid the "follow-up visit" of $125.00. "Your dog's eyes have healed since your last visit, they just aren't quite healing as fast as I would like. Let's go ahead and schedule another follow-up visit." Well, I know I am seeing more clearly now.

Shitshow day for my girl! Will never ever go back there again! Took my pup for a simple nail trim and ended at the emergency vet clinic! Blood everywhere. Took her back to the vet after the fact and still blood everywhere! They profess to be the vet of the stars in Scottsdale.not even close.and try to reach them after hours. IMPOSSIBLE! so angry! Over rated, over priced and under performance! If you love your fur baby.don't take them to Hillside for care!

I highly recommend Hillside if you're looking for a veterinarian's office near 124th and Shea. They are true professionals!

Was looking for a new vet for my Newfoundland and found Hillside. My pup was in need of some help and I scheduled an appointment. This appointment was during the coronavirus pandemic, and hillside was operating on curbside drop off and pick up, only. The staff was prompt, friendly and welcoming, even though it wasn't a traditional time. Made me feel comfortable leaving my fur baby with them.

Within 10 minutes, the doctor had examined him and called me with her recommendations and to get approvals. They worked up an estimate for me, walked me though medications needed, etc. and called me to come pick him up within an hour. He was a happy and healthy pup, once again and it was all thanks to Hillside and their awesome staff. Looking forward to having this be our go-to place for our vet needs.

This place has numerous good reviews, and I would agree. I have taken my cats to quite a few vets in the valley. I lived in the area for about a year, and I was so glad to find a vet practice with great staff, clean facilities, and helpful and knowledgeable vets. The staff would help me carry my cats in / out and immediately get them settled in the cat room, to avoid contact with any dogs.

They also let me pay inside the room, so again, the cats could exit without dog contact. The vets were always kind and knowledgeable. I live in central Phoenix now, and I could come out here, but it's a drive. I still haven't found a practice as good as this one.

I love everyone who works here! I have quite a few dogs (focus on senior animals) and they are so responsive and compassionate towards my pets. From the front desk associates to the vet techs to the vets (ALL OF THEM), I know that I am getting the best value for my money. I wish I had found them sooner. I love the people.the care.and the whole facility. I can not say enough good things about Hillside Animal Hospital!

Update: After being critical of this Vet's practices and an experience we had they now do not want to treat our dog with cancer after working with him for 5+ years. Instead of discussing the issue of why they were criticized they just say we prefer to not treat a sick pet with cancer and go see another Vet. Please consider your choice of Vet and never make a complaint to this business as they prefer business over caring for a sick pet.

We have taken our 3 dogs there for several years and although the care was good, the costs are extremely high. Our last visit was for our very sick dog and without thinking I didn't check our bill as thoroughly as normal and didn't notice we were charged about $60 more than the going rate for some antibiotics. Taking into consideration we have spent $2000+ multiple years at their office, I expected some concession or future bill credit when I called and asked about the high charge.

I was told that wasn't an option. Make sure you check your bill and question all charges, as their cost for medicine is extreme in most situations and can easily be found cheaper. Profits over customer retention is a sad situation after years of loyalty

We moved from the Pets Mart clinic called Banfield Pet Hospital to Hillside and we are so glad we did. The doctors know all about your animals. Our 15-year-old pug was made comfortable and helped in her last year or life. I only wish we switched sooner. Our new Boston Terrier loves the place it is possible she will never get nervous going to the vet, they are that good.

We have seen many of the doctors there and they are all good. Dr. Chicotka is so compassionate, super smart, and you never feel rushed. She was also kind to our 8-year-old daughter who wants to be a vet when she grows up.

Dr. Katy Chicotka, Shelley, and the staff at Hillside were as good as it gets! This was my 1st visit, I was in a rush, quickly wanting a checkup for my dog. The office is truly set up like your home, eliminating stress. Dr. Chicotka and Shelley were nice, confident, knowledgeable, and great with handling my pet. The charges were reasonable and typical for an exam and some antibiotics; they didn't run me through costly hoops like so many practitioners unfortunately do, today. These guys are my go-to from now on and I'll gladly refer them clients.

This is by far the best vet practice I have ever found. I can't say enuf about their services and diagnostic expertise. I do believe Dr. Rosonske (?sp) saved my little girl's life with his keen eye and expert abilities. I will never ever trust any other vet. Their whole practice is awesome, starting from their front desk!

Very friendly staff and beautiful place! They have individual rooms for you and your pet to meet with the vet privately which I really like. You can tell that all the staff really love working with animals. My dog is never scared to come here.

My family moved to Scottsdale in 2006 Dr Roseanke and Dr Council took excellent care of my standard poodle, Ashley, and my love my miniature Poodle, Bellagia (Bella). My Bellagia won Best in Show in Portland, OR, in 1993 I believe. When she came to live with us, she turned into a "real" dog! My sweet Bella passed this past Monday, June 4. Dr Council was so kind when she told me about Bella's cancer.

My sweet Bell Bell was 15. She had a wonderful and truly loving life. I held my sweet Bella in my arms when she left her mommy. Thank you Hillside Animal Hospital for taking wonderful care of my beautiful girls. My heart is broken I miss my Bella so much. She had a one of a kind personality!

I never got the chance to leave Dr. Rosonke a 5 star review after saving my dogs life. Long story short pets smart almost killed my Monty but Dr. Rosonke saved him. Thank you!

I'm a new mama! My "baby" girl Bella (red toy poodle) was born on October 23rd. So. then I started "nesting" by researching the best foods, safest dog car seat, the softest harnesses, ect, ect, ect. Well, when it came to the vet. I was going to be super picky! I visited over 15 vets and Hillside was far and away the friendliest, cleanest, nicest with most knowledgeable staff. OMG. love them. LOVE.

Every time I walked into Hillside I was immediately greeted with a smile and a hello. When I told them I was getting my Bella on January 8th they were excited for me and asked to see pictures! :-) Then they even gave me a tour of the back (without me asking! they just offered!) I guarantee they are the best vet!

We've been coming to Hillside for years and couldn't be happier with the Dr's and staff. They are always kind, caring and thorough. Love them!
