Red, White and BOOM! 8 Do's and Don'ts for a Safe and Sane Independence Day with your Furry Friend. It's that time of year again, when the evening skies come alive with pops and booms and flashes, drawing droves of people outside to "ooh" and "ah" over breathtaking fireworks displays. Many of our canine friends, however, are likely hiding out under the couch in terror. While most of us would love to share the fun with our furry companions, fireworks displays don't always spark the same excitement on their end.

Decided to go into this store again hoping they changed their ways and I noticed the dirty fish tanks which seemed crowded with lots of other fish. I was also given attitude because it seemed I was asking too many questions about their products and where the animals came from. I don't recommend this place.

I really want to support local businesses but I don't like coming here. The bearded guy is a complete tool. I don't think he is an owner but he seems to be here all the time. He interrogates customers when they want to make a purchase. Hey buddy, you work in a pet store not at NASA.

I have been going to this store on and off since I was a kid. I decided to get my dog groomed here. I have a Pekingese(long haired dog). I explained that I don't want him too short. She kept saying "smooth all over". I thought okay sure. She gave my pup a complete buzz cut! I was devastated. My mom was in tears! She also said that he didn't like his paws touched(this I am aware of).

So she did not clip his nails! I have a hard time with it, hence I brought him to the groomer. The lady was very nice, but never again. I have three stars because overall the place is great, and I have been going there for years.

Took my dog for grooming. My dog is 14 years old. I told them her age and if that would be a problem. I was told no problem. My dog is shedding she is collie shepherd mix. I asked how much and was told 55-65 dollars. After dropping dog off I get call that since she is so old and shedding the price is now 15o. I brought her there once before in same condition and they charged 85.00. The groomer does not take good care of the dogs. Don't bring your dog there! She over charges after they set you up!

I wish I could give 0 Star. I made an appointment for my dog to get groomed. She's never been there so I got a call from the groomer trying to see what kind of coat my dog had even though I'd already told the lady I made the appointment with. The groomer is very unprofessional greeting me to begin with, and sighing sounding stressed, smacking her lips and and saying that it will take her all night to groom my dog.

She asked if I could come in 2 hours earlier than scheduled and I let her know I couldn't so she then got even more of an attitude. I let her know I'd just like to cancel the appointment and she happily said OK. That was alarming enough for me to not want to have that lady come near my dog and I didn't have to step foot at Park pet store. This happened today 3/8/18.

Really impressed with the live aquarium plant selection they had. It was my first time there and Jim helped me out. He was great! I'll be back again!

We are so happy that we came across this pet shop. We visited a few times and every time was an awesome experience. The staff and the owners are so great - they took a lot of time on every occasion to talk to us about the puppy owning experience. Needless to say we are the proud new owners of a wonderful french bulldog. I would highly recommend this store to anyone who is looking for any kind of pet. This place is really something great! Thanks!

One of my first Yelps. Love this store. Great customer service. Excellent selection. You don't find places like this much anymore. They remember your name, take time to listen, and really take care of you.

Absolutely the BEST service we could ask for! A few years ago we bought a dog from this store and have been coming every month to buy our dog food. Jim and his family know our family by name, including our son. Today, my toddler was sleeping when making our monthly trip for dog food and I called into the store as I pulled up to explain the situation (mostly to see if they could help me out with making my purchase and not have to wake my son) and Jim took care of everything! I gave him my card over the phone and he walked my bag out to my car. I honestly couldn't ask for better service!

This place is amazing. Very knowledgeable staff that helped me pick the best food for my dog. Reasonable prices and good selection. Special brands must be pre-ordered and picked up. Stress-free shopping. Love it.

We brought our dog Johnny to park pet after calling to check on their grooming services. He needed his nails trimmed and she took us immediately. We had major issues at pet smart and they were unable to cut his nails. The groomer took him in back and was done in under 10 minutes. She seemed like she really cared about him and making it a good experience for him.

Just called to see if they could groom my puppy. Bridgette answered the phone and I could hear in her voice that she seemed to be agigitated. So I'm thinking this isn't starting good because all the Yelp reviews say they're very cordial. But I also want to give this business a chance. So I go on to ask if they do grooming. She answers, "yes" very shortly.

Now I'm thinking maybe calling here isn't a good idea. She asks what kind of dog I have. I say Maltese. She asks how old he is and has he had his rabies shot. I say almost 4 months and no. Mind you she isn't pleasant at all. She then asks if he's knotted and matted. I hesitate because I know we don't brush him everyday but I also know he still looks pretty good from the last grooming.

Before I get a chance to tell her this she begins to lecture me, very loud saying, "You have to be brushing them dogs everyday!" So now I'm stunned and speechless and thinking I MOST DEFINITELY don't want anyone from this place grooming my puppy. So I simply say, "Ok, thank you Bridgette. She says "ok" and hangs up. It's clear that she didn't want my business from the minute she answered the phone.

And that's ok because there are many groomers in the area. But being rude to potential clients is unacceptable. Very poor phone etiquette and people skills. Based on her attitude, I wouldn't recommend this shop to anyone.

Jim is great. Went there seeking some advice/product on flea treatment for my poor pup and this guy really helped guide us, giving specific direction on how to use the products he had available. Smells like a small shop that's been there a while but warm, friendly and knowledgeable more than makes up for that. Go here and feel the difference in care and knowledge from a big box store.

I decided to try this place again due to the proximity to my house. The smell wasn't as bad as before but I guess since it's a small place and no fresh air that's what happens. Anyway, the groomer did an excellent job with my dog's cut. I will be back.

I took my dog there to get a bath n they were so nice. The greeted me n my wife as if we've been there before. The young lady that gave my dog his bath was so pleasant n friendly, she told us that it will take about 2hours n they will give us a call when they were done. When we came to pick him up he looked real good n smelled good. I will go back to get my dog another bath they r real pleasant n have a very good attitude n personality.

They got my bizness. Like I said I'll be back. I think the lady that bathed my dog her name was Shawn she was nice to my dog u don't find that n some of these pet shops. Thanks again Park Pet Shop I'll be back.

I wouldn't say support this place because it's a local, small business that's family owned. I would say support it because they are incredibly helpful, knowledgable and just provide great service. Jim takes care of you and no matter how crazy busy his day has been he wears a big smile and genuinely wants to take care of you.

Great pet shop, around for decades, first went here at age 5 (now 31) to buy parakeets, got our beautiful Jack Russell Terrier Shania/Buttercup here in 1999 (Born January 3, 1999, died September 15th, 2011) and it's an all around great pet store, I knew Jim, my mother Donna too, his son as well, great guys and owners of this store.

I sent my miniature schnauzer here and the groomer did a fantastic job! The staff was very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. I was satisfied with the price too because they are way cheaper than Petsmart. My dog was happy and I can tell that she was not mistreated. I will definitely patronize them again!

Highly satisfied! And happy with our fur family addition! We purchased our kitten here. We would have left with more than one pet, but we are nearing maximum capacity. The animals were very clean and spunky. We were given plenty of time with the animals. The staff even helped us to the car with our supplies. Our kitten was added to our one cat/one dog household. She is incredibly docile and super healthy!

I used to go to this store all the time. I thought their prices were a little high, but not outrageous, and their staff seemed very helpful. I also believe in patronizing local businesses. I no longer go to Park Pets, for several reasons. One--they say they sell "designer breeds." I'm a vet tech, and in the "biz" we call these dogs MUTTS. Not that there's anything wrong with mixed-breeds--some of the smartest, cutest, sweetest dogs I have met have been mixed-breeds--but pet stores that invent breeds and then sell them for hundreds of dollars are being a little dishonest. Also, pet stores that sell dogs are usually getting their puppies from puppy mills.

I don't know if Park Pets buys from mills, but I asked them about the breeders they use, and they were very unwilling to give me information. That's odd: reputable breeders stand behind their products, and this information would be an endorsement of Park Pets. Hmm. Suspicious. Two--and this is a really personal thing--but I had been buying pet food, fish, tank supplies, pet products, on and on, from them for several years.

I was in there on a weekly basis, and the employees knew me. Anyway, one time I went in--I was 8 mos. pregnant, and I really really REALLY had to use the bathroom. I was almost in tears. I asked them if I could use their bathroom and they refused. I KNOW they don't have a public restroom, and I was really embarrassed to ask, but they were kind of snotty about it. (Like I was buying $27 worth of products just so I could trick them into using their bathroom.) I thought that was mean--not declining my request, but making me feel like a creep. Three--this was after the bathroom incident, but I never let ONE experience, unless it's really bad, define the business.

I brought my dog in for a bath--when I picked him up, the groomer came out and pressed literature into my hand. I thought it was something about flea prevention or dry skin, but when I got outside and looked at it, it was a RELIGIOUS tract! I thought it was highly inappropriate to allow someone to come to your business, PAY YOU FOR SERVICES--and then use that as an opportunity to "fish" for converts!

That was the last straw. It irritated me not only because I thought it was tacky, but also it reminded me of the bathroom incident. If they are so Christian, why were they so mean to a pregnant lady in obvious distress? And if their Christianity isn't genuine, what does that say about their care for their animals?
