A great impression will reveal the limb structure (bony landmarks and other topography) of the patient on the outside of the fiberglass impression so that your patient's impression can be digitally scanned. As opposed to a cast, which is thick and supportive, the impression should be thin (overlap each strip by half).

Must've changed ownership or something recently because even our PT vet said they've been recommending another company out of state. We got our brace through our vet, but the quality of the brace was received was CHEAP - cheap plastic, cheap foam, parts that were glued is already coming off, and it was SUPER bulky and heavy. My dog also doesn't walk like a normal dog due to a deformity in her leg (which is why she needs the brace.) and despite sending multiple x-rays of her unique bone structure and videos of her walking pattern, they didn't make the brace to accommodate for her deformity and different walking style. it's made for a dog who doesn't have a leg deformity. What in the world!?! And now it's $200+ for each adjustment after paying $1,300 for the brace. What a joke.

I can't possibly say enough positive about Ortho Pets! Their attentiveness, personable approach and genuine character will keep me connecting with them for a long time. Their experience and proper course of treatment, for my large dog, was exactly what he needed to, quite literally, get back on his feet. I would (and have) recommended to them to so many pet owners, and I'll continue to so. You will love them!

Though we have just started with the process I find Orthopets to be unresponsive and borderline rude. My Vet says they are pleasant to her, too bad it is me who paid the bill and is dealing with a lame dog. After 4 surgeries we decided to put our dear Honey in a brace as she was unable to support herself on her front left paw. From the very get they have been very resistant to any thing I have asked of them.
My dog now is wearing her brace and hopping on 3 legs so she doesn't have to put the brace on the ground. It is rubbing and causing her to bleed. I paid the price for their sleeve but they sent the wrong size. They won't replace it until I jump through hoops for them. I left a message today for the owner, and was informed that she is rarely in the office and will get back to me pretty much when she feels like it.
I find it incredible that a company operating on the premise of helping pets is so blind to the actual needs of their clients. Orthopets as a group are callous to the parents of these pets, who are dealing daily with the physical troubles of their beloved furry babies. As a business owner myself I am always aware that the service I provide can be found everywhere and strive to make my customer experience positive, I would suggest to anyone needing a these services find someone else to give your business to. You can get these appliances in lots of places, why give your business to someone that really doesn't care.

OrthoPets has helped my Husky recover from two cruciate injuries (each back leg). Their braces really work to support the injury while it heals - and it takes patience and time but it works as an alternative to cruciate ligament surgery. Also, they don't just sell you the bespoke brace - they follow up and help you get the progress you want for your pet. They're brilliant!

My lab-mix, Roscoe, has always been an active, crazy boy and despite being 13 he did not comprehend slowing down. Arthritis in a hock not only caused him pain but his leg would give out and there was not a surgical option. He has had his custom OrthoPets brace for over a year now and he is happily back to swimming and enjoying outings to open space. I feel that his brace bought him extra, quality years and for that I am grateful to everyone at OrthoPets!

Our dog, Lucy Blue, has been very active her entire life (she is 11 now), and experienced a degenerative Achilles tendon tear. The vets at Colorado State University suggested that, instead of surgery, to contact OrthoPets and have a custom brace made for Lucy. At the CSU location, OrthoPets took a mold of Lucy's leg and then at their facility, fashioned a brace from the mold.
When her high level of activity became an issue with the brace, they immediately revised the original design. She has been wearing this brace for 4 years, and can perform all activities that she enjoyed before - hiking, swimming, skinning (up mountains), etc. I would recommend OrthoPets to anyone with a dog whose activity level has been compromised by a leg injury.

My 12 yr old Labrador Retriever first injured her left stifle (knee) in August 2012. At that time, surgery was not an option due to her age. Her injury was managed medically with pain and anti-inflammatory medicines. This kept her going and she shows some improvement. In January 2103, she had a 2nd ligament injury, this time in her right stifle. As a result, she was nearly lame.
Our vet wasn't hopeful, with surgery being too expensive and uncertain, options we're slim. At this time, I was carrying her wherever she needed to go, outside, inside, into any room she wished. Being 70 lbs, she was nearly 100% dependent on me for everything. That didn't both me but I worried about her endlessly. I'd put her on our bed during the day where she would stay until I got home from work (a queen-sized thermapedic mattress makes for a pretty nice "crate!").
I researched "knee braces for dogs" via Google. Some reading and a few phone calls later, I found and gained confidence in OrthoPets. I contacted our vet, shared my knowledge and hopes about OrthoPets, and he agreed to take on the treatment plan. I brought her to the animal hospital for the casting procedure and within a few days we had the orthotics.
It was rather amazing how quickly they helped! Several weeks of training for both of us, resulted in a miraculous improvement. As her strength was regained, some of her youthfulness was also restored. My dog was a senior citizen as dogs go when she got her braces. But they results were truly amazing, they freed her to be herself and enjoy life again without being carried everywhere. The support from OrthoPets was also exceptional, if I could do it all again, I would, only sooner. Truly remarkable orthopedic care for animals. I love 'em!

OrthoPets is awesome! They recommended and made a brace for my 11 year old Aussie/Lab mix who tore her ACL. Since this was her second tear, and she is an older dog, we did not want her to go through another surgery (costly and painful). The brace my dog wears provides the much needed support she needs to stay active (as active as an 11 year old dog is). Initially, my dog hated the device. Dr. Mich and Martin made subtle adjustments that increased her comfort.
She now wears her brace almost all day, and seems comfortable spending time napping with it on. OrthoPets is a great choice for those wanting/needing an alternative to surgery. They are doing GREAT things for pets. You won't be disappointed! I highly recommend them.

Our dog (11 year old border collie) has torn her CCL. Due to her age and several surgeries with an unknown diagnosis that she had every few months during the last year we did not want to subject her to another surgery and opted for a brace. We are not local to OrthoPets and initially local orthopedic vets did the mold and fitted the brace. It did not go smoothly initially.
The device made a blister on her skin and was painful for the dog to wear. It took sending the device back for adjustment twice before it fitted properly. During this time OrthoPets staff was very proactive, caring, and responsive. Now our dog does not mind the brace, and while we do not keep her in it all the time (the injury has mostly healed and while on the leash on smooth surface she does not need it) she wears it in the woods, and anywhere where we are not around.
