The Purring Parrot

The owner Maria is extremely unprofessional and rude. We have been boarding our cat their for years and randomly without warning she said we cannot board our beloved pet there ever again. We have given this business thousands and thousands of dollars over the years and they never had any problems with our cat. Recently during Covid their staffing and professionalism declined immensely.

The employees, manager and owner acted like they had no problems with us either before "banning" us. Apparently we requested to drop off our cat early and this angered the owner but she never said a word. The sweet words about our cat came from their phony pet diaries. Your pet could be suffering in there but they just make up things to make you as an owner feel better.

We depend on this facility to watch our cat multiple times a year; and they know our pet well. Without warning they cancelled all of our bookings for the year including thanksgiving and Christmas (which we have expensive trips booked) and told us to never communicate in person over the phone again. They were nice to us when we picked up our pet a few days ago!

Something super fishy and sketchy is going on with their business. We have ignored incidents in the past where our pet wasn't fed properly, wasn't given his correct medication or when he was sick from hair balls and they didn't even tell us. This business has gone massively down in service and value and I would not recommend it to anyone.

If you want someone to depend on for your beloved cat or bird for that matter. DO NOT GO WITH THIS BUSINESS. If the owner has a problem with you she hides it, let's her hate build until she unloads on you and bans you randomly. They do not care about animals and they do not know how to work with pet parents. Maria acts like a nice person but it's a show for someone who is overstressed and has taken too much out of herself to run her business correctly.

She takes her wrath out on her unsuspecting clients. Appalled at the poor service and Lack of warning about being entirely "banned" from their service. Maybe it's a good thing because I would never trust these swindlers again.

I'm so grateful my mom found this place! She and I needed to board our respective kitty cats for several days, and we're both beyond pleased. My cat needs medication twice a day, and it was very reassuring to know that Paris was familiar with it. Esme also helped my cat check in, and she's was very sweet. Getting those witty and cute e-meows really made my day.

Being able to see inside the rooms with the cameras is a brilliant idea. At the end of the stay you get a "diary, " a detailed report of how your pet behaved each day, and how the staff interacted with them. There's easy parking, too. Thank you to all the staff from the bottom of my heart.

I may have left another review but each time i bring my Goffins cockatoo in for a stay, she gets excellent care. The staff is truly caring, kind patient and will follow directions for eating patterns and cage set. There is no where else I trust to manage my quirky bird!

We boarded our two cats for a week. Really appreciated all the care they received. The online cameras were appreciated to see how the cats were doing. Both cats needed meds and were well taken care of. They care for the animals and it shows. We will be back and recommend highly to friends and family.

The Purring Parrot is very professional and extremely affordable for cat boarding. They will administer medications with no extra charge (including subcutaneous injections) and check in on your pet multiple times a day. Webcams are always available and they have night vision as well. We have boarded with them several times without issues.

My kitten was so happy when I picked her up after a few days at Purring Parrot! She got a ton of play time, got to have all of her own toys and food, and there was even a camera to check on her. The staff were so friendly and caring. The rooms are spacious, clean, and fun (she got the music room). I will absolutely bring my cat back here in the future; it was absolutely worth the affordable cost and the peace of mind that she was well cared for.

Love taking my cat to Purring Parrot anytime I go out of town! All of their kitty suites are themed, have lots of purches and toys, and I love that they have cameras. Plus there are so many rooms! My cat has probably stayed in at least half of them lol. The staff is always super attentive and friendly, and I've never had any issues.

I am so grateful to have found this place for my cat Gretta. To be fully transparent. I'm kindddaaa a helicopter cat mom (I'm working on it) so when I needed to start boarding my cat after my parents moved to Ireland, I was really picky! A big thing for me was making sure the rooms were homey and there were no cages! This place has the CUTEST homiest comfiest rooms for cats that are thoughtfully done up with different themes. I'd honestly stay here myself lol!

My girl has medicine she needs to take and really loves attention and affection and the staff are very attentive to all different needs. They have rooms in "social" areas where there's more foot traffic and then quieter areas for the more introverted cats. But allll rooms are very cozy and cute and have lots of toys and climbing posts. I was so nervous about boarding my cat because I know they love to be at home, but for my cat who needs medicine and lots of attention, boarding was the way to go.

I eased into it the first couple times starting with one night, then 2, etc. now Gretta loves her stays at the purring parrot and I have peace of mind every trip I go on. Also, all rooms have a 24/7 webcam you can look at while your away. 200/10 recommend the Purring Parrot.

I boarded my cat at the Purring Parrot for two weeks while I was overseas on vacation waaaay back in 2014 and I realized today while recommending them to a friend that I had never written a review for them back then! So here it is: This place is fantastic. They took perfect care of my furbaby, and I really enjoyed the peace of mind of being able to check on her myself on the webcam. If you are going somewhere and want to feel absolutely sure that your pet will be well cared for, this is the spot.

Seriously the best! I've never had to board my two cats and was very nervous about the whole experience. Having the live cam so I could see my cats while I was gone was very reassuring. The staff was very thorough in making sure they kept with their daily routine. One of my cats is extremely shy and can hiss and swat at people she doesn't know but they still continued to interact with her in an appropriate way, which meant a lot to me.

As for my other cat, Poppy was so spoiled whenever I came back to pick them up she was more concerned about getting attention from the caretaker than even acknowledging me. They went above and beyond! If I ever came back to the area I would absolutely use them again, and recommend them to anyone looking to board their cats!

I recently had to board my 5 kitties, and one larger than life Conure. I stressed and stressed until I found this wonderful sanctuary. They were so helpful, so pleasant, so wonderful since the very beginning. They made the process as easy as it could be. I was able to finally visit my parents and I did not have to worry about my babies. I could watch them with the camera set up.

They spent time with each animal. I got email and phone call updates on the health and well-being. This place is Heaven sent. I will be looking to fly home again. And this is where my babies will be well taken care of. I am forever grateful! It was clean. The staff was awesome, the price was reasonable and I was given a first time users deal. Which came in handy. A++

They are the best. I've tried many pet services and they cannot be matched. Their prices are very reasonable, and they take such a good care of your kitty. Their cameras are so well organized and taken care. Everywhere you look is sparkling clean. They apply insulin shots and send you regular updates. I cannot be more thrilled with their service.

I have used Purring Parrot over 4 times to board my anxious Goffins Cockatoo. Sunny is 30 years old, a plucker (not unusual for Goffins) and very spoiled. The staff at PP allow those spoiled activities to continue while she is there. The cages are very clean, the other birds are healthy, they require yearly blood work to assure no transmutable diseases.

The extra food they give, snacks, etc. are healthy for birds and the staff take special time with each bird. Their prices of $20 a night is fair considering the extra things I ask them to do. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable on caring for Parrots. Covid clean for sure. All their toys, foods, items for cage are well priced and there if you forgot something! Located in an industrial park on Mission Gorge Place, easy parking, easy access.

Ultimate pet boarding facility for cats (and birds)! Tucked in a perfect location near mission gorge, Maria and her amazing team took great care of my sweet Bailey for me last week keeping a journal of his daily activities and with virtual access to his Arabian suite 24/7. Staff is professional and each suite has a theme and a host of toys for the feline members of the fam. Cannot imagine staying elsewhere.

I'm very particular about my cat. They were wonderful. They took great care of him and kept in contact to let me know how he was doing. I also logged in to the live camera feed and looked in on him from time to time. I would wholeheartedly recommend as I myself will use their services again.

Last weekend, I used the Purring Parrot for the 1st time, to care for my cat Emma. Normally, I have friends house-sit, and I was concerned about how she would respond to being "boarded". Happy to say, the weekend went well. The staff took great care of Miss Emma, and she was calm and relaxed when I picked her up on Monday. As a bonus, they provided me with a summary of their interactions with her over the weekend, with notes about her behavior, including the long naps, the purrs, her desire for head scratches, and her boredom and indifference to play toys. I had to laugh, and say to myself, "Yep, that's my girl."

This place is a bit further than another boarding place I could go to, but it's very much worth the extra drive and cost. Each cat has a mini dorm, rather than a cage like most places I've seen. All the staff take extra care giving daily cuddles, pets, and playtime with the cats. I love that they have cameras to be able to see my kitty while she's there, and staff provides a couple email updates and daily notes to look at upon pickup. They're the best!

I was super nervous to take my cats to a pet hotel for the first time but this experience couldn't have been better! The employees were so kind and sweet. I was able to check in on the kitties at any time through the webcam and that really helped to ease my anxiety. I definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a pet hotel!

This is absolutely the best pet resort/home away from home for your cats in all of San Diego! Very well laid out so that your cat will have a view of their human caretakers and some of the birds that are being boarded (in their own cages) but not of other cats. Our two cats (Jack Jack & Kiki) stayed here for their first time staying away from home and we were all concerned about how they would adjust.

The attentive staff, clean, well-designed rooms with fun themes, and overall well-organized processes to monitor and document how the cats are doing ensured that they did great! As an added bonus the kids loved checking in on the cats via the in-room webcams. Great staff, great facility. Look no further if you have cats that you need to board for your next vacation or work trip!

This is the best place to take your cat! Maria, her team, and the facility are vastly superior to her competition! Our cat Kona has stayed there a few times now and honestly its the only place that doesn't cause my cat stress. Not only that, but Maria has gone out of her way to personally drive to pick up one extra packet of wet food for my overly spoiled cat when we miscounted packets of wet food.

We told Maria not to worry about it, Kona can just have her dry food, but Maria and Kona are simpatico, and she went to the store for my hypnotist cat. Kona does have strange powers, but nothing that can create a person who truly cares about other peoples' best friends. That is a rare trait, and I thank her greatly for it. If you are even hesitating a bit about this place, stop considering, and just book it. There is no better place, or people to trust, to take care of your loved one!

Our cat Luna was with the Purring Parrot for 9 days and she was so well taken care of. We were anxious about leaving her for the first time but she was in good hands. We had email updates from Luna and the webcam to check in with her and was great for putting our minds at ease. Would definitely recommend their service.

They take marvelous care with both & s. My cat like the bird view rooms best because, he's a pro birder. We only have green at . He even sends emails with updates of his escapades while I'm away.

This is literally the best place for cats on planet earth. I think my cat Leeroy prefers being here instead of home. They provide the highest quality care to my cat and I'm able to monitor him 24/7 on a webcam. The rooms all have a different cute theme and are massive compared to other cat boarding places. The staff really takes the time to get to know the individual needs of each animal and it's obvious that every staff member has a huge love for animals and what they do.

This review is overdue. We left our two kitties with them for a long weekend and they stayed in the biggest room they had. We were able to see them whenever we wanted through the webcam and it seemed like they were being well taken care of. When we picked them up we were given a cute journal of their daily activities. We would trust them again to take care of our kitties if needed.

When you have a macaw that talks as much as mine does, it is easy to think he's saying something he is not. I gave this place a try in preparation for an upcoming trip, and received a call a WHOLE DAY AFTER THE STAY. claiming that my green wing macaw said the "n" word for over an hour! Actually, the word he was saying was SUGAR, the name of one of my Westies and one of the first words he learned to say.

I received NO call during the stay, and not a word from the employee that assisted me when I picked him up. In fact, she gushed on and on about how funny he is, and we talked at length about all the things Cuica says: "Want some chocolate?". "Want some water?". "Hi beautiful!". "Hi gorgeous!". And then I got this phone call, telling me that my bird supposedly repeated a racial slur for over an hour.

My heart is still in my feet. I do not ever and would not ever say that word - ever. Nor do I watch any kind of television programming that would ever use the word. The way they handled this is completely unprofessional and sadly, even if I agreed to return with my clean-mouthed bird, the damage to his (and my) reputation has been done. I am angry, sickened, and heart broken because it could have been handled so much better than it was.

Everyone loves to travel, however, no good pet parent is enthusiastic about being away from their pet/pets. Thanks to the Purring Parrot, when I travel I only MISS my kitties. I don't WORRY about them. I know they are safe and being well cared for. Some of my favorite things about Purring Parrot are: 1. The staff- every experience I have had over the last few years tells me that they are all experienced pet people.

They care about animals and are observant and sensitive to their individual personalities. 2. There is dedicated daily interaction by the staff with your pet. Your pet will not be stuffed in a room alone for long periods of time. 3. They have web cameras so you can check on your kitty/birdie anytime you want regardless of what time zone you're in 4.

They will send you emails re: your pets stay 5. At the point of pick up, they give you a "diary" of EVERY day of your pets stay chronicling everything from peeing and pooping, to dietary intake, observational mod/behavioral comments, as well as playtime behavior with likes and dusli I hope my review is helpful to those of you out there who, like me, went searching on Yelp for "best places to board a cat" PS they also board birds, hence the name "Purring Parrot ", my review above is from a cat lady perspective. PS/update I am still a huge fan of The Purring Parrot.

They have relocated and are no longer near my home in mission hills but I'm ok with that. The new location off of mission gorge rd is just as awesome and I can easily park close by and shuttle my kitties into the PP. parking was getting impossible at the PL location
