One of the new owners, Melissa, a native of San Diego, grew up playing on the local beaches. After living for a short time in both Mission Beach and Pacific Beach, Melissa fell in love with the community of Ocean Beach. Although her family had visited the Dog Beach Dog Wash (DBDW) in the past, it wasn't until around 2014 when she would get to meet the previous owners, Jane and Mindy.
Excited about what Jane and Mindy had established in the community, Melissa said to them, if they ever thought about selling the Dog Wash to keep her in mind.

After our pup enjoyed his day at the beach we needed somewhere to give him a quick rinse before we checked into our Airbnb. Lo and behold, we found this little gem. Parking is a bit difficult, but they have a back alley way where you can get lucky. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We had never taken our dog to a self-serve dog bath before. $20 for everything you need. You cannot beat that. Great experience! Would recommend it to anyone in the area.

10/10 recommend! Went to the dog beach for some much needed fun in the sun and we decided to stop here after to get our goodboys clean. The gentleman sitting outside was super friendly and helpful. I told him we had to large goodboys who needed a bath and he invited us right in and gave us two tubs and explained all the details! It's 17 dollars per dog and they provide all the soap, towels, brush, warm water, tub etc. it was such a great experience and I will for sure be back when I'm in town again!

We actually haven't been here in a few years and and the person at the front was very helpful and very nice as soon as we walked in. He explained everything and he also let us know the prices that were listed on the wall for additional services/items. Some of the bath tubs are tall and some of the bath tubs are a little bit lower for different sized dogs.
They provide you with this little basket next to the bathtub that includes a towel, brushes and some shampoo. We ended up using the blow dryer and buying a collar. Very clean and very polite staff.

First time using a self serve dog wash - it was fun.for me at least! The water was the perfect warmth and the hose was preset to a perfect spray. Everything for the basic bath was right there, within reach. The dryer was a little overpriced, it seemed, at $3.50, although unlimited time. Will return!

I have a chow chow and a schnauzer/poodle/lhasa apso/chihuahuamix and they are both have a lot of fur so it's hard to give them a shower. I used to shower them outside the house, where I have to bend down when giving them a shower. And from doing that I now have a back problem. So, we started looking for a self service dog wash. And an angel groomer recommended us to dog beach dog wash.
I'm thankful to have found this place, no more back hurting, and the staff are very friendly, very accommodating, very generous, very nice. And I love how they use nature specialties for their shampoos. And the no time limit blower dryer.

Stopped in while walking my dog, staff was super nice the front desk was awesome at explaining all the services they offer. They had walk-ins available for nail trimming. I have a 95 pound weim that hates nail trims and Toby was super patient with him. The whole thing took less than 15 minutes. It was super reasonable pricing and great location (they even have parking)! Cannot recommend enough. I will definitely be going back!

This is the ONLY place I bring my pup for his nail trim. Staff is always friendly, welcoming, and patient with my shy guy. Dog beach dog wash is conveniently located 2 blocks from dog beach, and within walking distance to Starbucks so you can finish up your grooming trip with a pup cup. 10/10 highly recommended

I have been coming here since the Loyalty Program thingies were on little Index Cards and not a computer yet, so it's been quite some time and I have to say we have NEVER EVER, not once had a bad experience here. On the contrary, my expectations are always exceeded. 5 Star Service 5 Star Location Amazing Prices! Martin and Matt are really nice and awesome people! They really go above and beyond and I really appreciated their help. Also love my Dog Wash shirt and hat hehe!

Matthew gave the best customer service I have ever experienced! Not only was he very kind but he went above and beyond! It was our first time at the wash and Matthew came up let me know what station I could go to and where I can hook my second dog while she waits for her bath. I brought my own shampoo for my dogs and he poured it into bottles for us and even asked what size bottle I preferred!
He made sure my dogs had enough towels to dry and let me know I didn't have to worry about the sand and hair in the tub as he would take care of it! When we checked out he gave my girls cookies and said we can take as many as we wanted! All in all I will go back solely on the fact that the customer service was impeccable! And my dogs left happy!

Pretty basic service and the facility could feel a bit cleaner, but it is the most comfortable place in the area to take a dog after visiting the Dog Beach nearby. Our Schnauzer was fine in the tub and drying area here, and he really REALLY needed a bath as he was caked in sand and ocean water from his romp on the beach. The service could be a bit more friendly and the menu of services was a bit more confusing than ideal. Also, it is a bit pricey, and the dryer was pretty weak.
I am comparing this place to Lemos which was in Morro Bay which felt way more comprehensive and the dryer was awesome there. But this is the only place in the immediate area around Dog Beach that wasn't coin/cash operated and outside, so we were very happy to find this option.

I absolutely love this place. The set up is great, tons of reasonable priced treats, and lots of toys. This place is always clean, and can get super busy during traffic times. The workers are amazing, I have a few favorite workers, but they're all great. They always greet my Dog " Bear" by his name. When I was out of town, they even helped my sister and knew what I usually get for my dog. That's amazing customer service.

Amazing! Our guy got pretty sandy during an early morning Fiesta Island run and I wanted to clean him off before heading home. So stoked these guys are open before 9 am! Beats the heck out of hunching over outside or in our bathtub too. Service was great, tons of self-service tubs, and they also do nail clipping here too. Lots of soap options, and doggo supplies for those in need.
If your want to save money on a dog wash without doing it home, this is the spot. Obviously close to Dog Beach in PB, but not far from PB or Fiesta Island either! I am a new fan and I will be back!

We were in San Diego for a mini vacation with our puppers. We decided to go to the dog beach on Monday to let our puppers have some fun but he tends to get pretty dirty afterwards. We found Dog Beach Dog Wash on Yelp and they were extremely close to the dog beach. Perfect! They have a good amount of tubs for use and they are huge! If you have a big dog, this place is perfect!
We have a miniature schnauzer so the tubs are a bit of an overkill but their smaller tub was a bit too small so it looks like they don't have a medium. It costs $17 for the wash and they provide everything that you need -- shampoo, towel, brush, microfiber towel, and an apron (if you choose to use it). There is no time limit either so if your dog is particularly filthy, take your time!
They do have a drier for you to use as well and it costs an extra $3.50 to use. Staff is friendly and the whole process was painless. As an out of towner, it's a little weird that their wash and dry was priced separately. All the places that I've been to before (Morro Bay/Las Vegas) was one price for everything. Though maybe the drying isn't needed most of the time if the weather is good! Definitely a good place to stop by after the beach for your dog!

My dog loves to go to the dog beach but leaves my car filthy. Found that Dog Beach Dog Wash is less than a 10 minute walk from the dog beach so I took my 10month old saint bernard mix puppy there. They give you alll the supplies you need to wash your dog for $17- shampoo, brushes, combs, towels, and scrubbers EVEN AN APRON! Conditioner is extra. My 100plus pound dog easily fit in the tub.
She struggled with walking up the stairs into it so the gentleman working helped me lift her and put her in the tub. After her wash, we used the HV dryer. It costs extra but is so worth it for long haired dogs. The staff is so nice and friendly, we'll definitely go back!

OB Dog Wash is a gem! I've tried other DIY washes in San Diego and nothing compares. We go to OB dog beach exclusively over other beaches because this stop has become a huge part of our routine. My dog actually runs toward the car when I say "let go get a bath" because she knows there are treats in her future. Staff is kind, always offering extra towels, etc, an work so hard to keep the tubs turning during rush times. New loyalty program put in place by new owners is a great perk.

Really thankful that Dog Beach Dog Wash is open for business, our pups haven't had a nail trim a really long time and it was getting a little bad. I called the store on Friday and they made me aware that we didn't need to make an appointment to come in. On Saturday we dropped by 10:30 am and there wasn't a line to get a nail trim, we have two Pomeranians but they had plenty of staff to help.
I think it took about 20 minutes to complete the process for both. They grind down the nail which made me feel a lot better, I always fear that they'll hit a nerve on their paws. It cost $18 per dog which was definitely worth not having to do it on our own and hurting our fluffs. Staff is friendly, they strap the small pups up in a harness and let them dangle to get all the nails without too much movement. There is limited park in the back of their store but there is street parking if you can find it.

Took my dog here after a "pupticularly" adventurous jaunt at Dog Beach, and was not disappointed. I visited OB Dog Wash a few years ago as well, and was also pleased then! Super consistent, I guess you could say. PLENTY of tubs, and the one person on staff seemed to manage the seven-eight groups in the salon VERY well. They give you the shampoo + towels for you pup = the basic wash $16, and you can scrub your furmily member as meticulously as you'd like with their provided wash tools (deshed silicone comb). Air dry with the machine costs a bit extra, but I'm pretty sure you can bundle the wash and dry for $21 if needed. 5/5 would recommend
