When leaving my baby (giant Great Dane) anywhere, I want peace of mind knowing he'll be shown the same love and care I give him. This is a hard thing to measure when it comes to boarding facilities. My boy is eight years old and, in his eight years, has been to several different boarding facilities, as I have attempted to find the one where I feel the most comfortable.
After discovering the Pooch Hotel in the West Loop, I have stopped my search. I am beyond impressed with the care my dog receives and the service offered by Pooch Hotel. The staff is consistently kind, courteous, and patient, and when leaving your pet in the care of others, these traits make the difference!

Unfortunately, I can't ask my dog Sweet Pea how she felt about her stay, but when I picked her up after boarding for the week she did not try to run out the front door as fast as she could (like the last place I boarded her, ) so I'm taking that as a good sign. Pooch Hotel was super accommodating when I had to make last minute travel plans. It's really hard to find boarding in Chicago for a dog who does not play well with other dogs, so I appreciated that they fit us in.
For an extra fee, we were able to sign up for additional outdoor walks and peanut butter Kongs which definitely helped Sweet Pea's morale. I received photos about every other day, and they showed Sweet Pea's tail wagging. I'd definitely recommend Pooch Hotel if your dog can't be in a group setting. My one issue was that I found the online reservation system a little difficult, but once I was able to get someone on the phone, everything was fine.

Boarding my pup is always so hard for me but the staff make the experience so much better for me and, most importantly, my dog. The staff cares so much about the dogs and check in the second anything happens. I'm lucky to have found such a great boarder so close to me and would absolutely recommend this place to any pet parent (especially ones who have a hard time leaving their pet).

I like the facility and the ability to monitor my pet via webcam. However, I'm not sure why the needed to remove my dogs GPS collar and did not give him all the food I sent with him? Also, despite signing my pet up for group exercise he remained in a pen for most of his visit. After 3 calls and having to return to the facility he was finally able to interact with the other guests. I was told he was excluded because of his taped ears. Had that been explained when I dropped him off I could have saved myself allot of time and $55.

Our golden retriever, Charlie, ADORES Pooch Hotel West Loop. He has attended for boarding spanning from 2 nights to 5 nights and gets so excited to walk in the door every time we arrive. The staff is great about sending us pictures of Charlie having fun with his puppy pals during play time so we feel confident that he isn't missing us too much. The app is easy to use to create a profile for your pet, complete the booking process and check in on them on the web cams during their stay. We would highly recommend Pooch Hotel West Loop to anyone needing boarding for their fur baby!

Daisy, our 2 year old dog, stayed at The Pooch Hotel over Christmas 2021. She loved it as far as we can tell. We were able to check in on her from time to time via the doggie cam. She really enjoyed play time with the other dogs. She came home tired (which is good) and with no newly-acquired bad habits (which is even better). We will definitely board her at The Pooch Hotel again.

No complaints! My dog was boarded for 4 nights at Pooch Hotel West Loop & I was able to see him on the live cam and I received 2 photos of his time there. This was a good mix of communication for the stay. Staff was very kind and professional. Drop off and pick up were easy. My only wish is that I had a more detailed report when I picked him up. I like to hear if he made friends or played or how be behaved. I am bringing him back later this month & would recommend to a friend. Thanks!

I absolutely recommend Pooch Hotel for daycare, boarding and grooming. Billy has been attending Puppy's Day Out every Tuesday all summer and it made him such a social butterfly. We moved onto trying a full day of daycare once he got all of his vaccinations as we were preparing for a trip and wanted him to get used to being away from us for a longer period.
As predicted, he did very well and I felt super confident having him board for an extended period. We opted for the presidential suite because the executive suites were all taken. I wanted to have Webcam access to his play area and his bedroom, which both executive and presidential both offer. However, the pres suite also offers a TV AND a toddler bed!
They gave him stairs as well because his corgi legs couldn't get up on the bed. While we were gone, in addition to 24/7 Webcam access, Pooch also sent emails with pictures. They also responded to any questions via email right away to put any anxieties to rest. On his last day, before pick up, I opted for grooming and they did such a wonderful job! He looked and smelled like he never rolled around and played with his doggie friends :)) I added pictures that Pooch sent me of my baby. He was treated like a Corgi King!

So my father had our oldest dog (charlie)spend the night here, just ONE night. Next day I went to pickup Charlie and they brought him out but did not bring his bed out. They lost it. The old guy who runs the place at night let my boyfriend and I in the back to look for his bed and in the laundry room there was pee everywhere on the floors. When i say everywhere it was everywhere and it smelled like it to.
We couldent find his bed so then they told us they would pay for his new bed once we bought a new one for him. They did. but that is not all that happened. After a few days passed Charlie started not moving much he was sittin in bed most of the day shaking and not looking so good. (mind you that he has all his shots) He was throwing up everywhere and had diarrhea.
We took him to the vet and they told us he got a virus most likely from the dog hotel. My younger dog Grim is the only dog he is around and he was never near any dogs past few days so he was out the picture. I am just upset that. 1 they lost charlies bed 2 they claim to have dog massages (but lets be honest how do we even know they are getting it? theres no recording or photo of our dogs getting a massage or bath)) 3 MOST IMPORTANT My dog charlie got sick from only spending ONE NIGHT in there. So id suggest pooch hotel check everything and upp their cleaning skills before letting more dogs stay.

Over the holidays my dog got an injury on his nose (bite? No one knows how it happened. The staff has no record and didn't even notice it, which is crazy (pictures attached).) Now I'm stuck with the vet bills. Their manager just stopped responding to emails. So this is why I'm leaving this review. Definitely not coming back.

I brought my dog here for daycare last week for the first time and would definitely return. The facility is clean and the staff is very friendly. They gave me a picture and an adorable report card on Kaih's first day. I also liked how easy it was to make and change reservations as my plans changed. It was also neat to watch her during playtime on the webcams

I didn't have a great experience here. I'm sure some people have had better experiences (I've been recommended this facility by a friend), however my dog came home unhappy and with a hurt eye. Her eye injury is something that happens in group play settings so I'm not mad about the injury. I am upset that it wasn't mentioned (or perhaps not noticed), which suggests more negligent staff than I'd prefer.
In addition, there was blood on the benebone she brought with her. This could just be from fierce chewing, but with the rest of the experience it just left me with a bad feeling. She came back smelling really bad. She has never smelled that bad and I have used other dog hotels, so I don't think it is typical that she returns smelling like urine.
I was unable to access the room camera I paid extra for oversees (not necessarily the fault of Pooch, but worth mentioning if you are considering that service). The only other update I got was an email showing a rushed photo and giving no updates on her health, well-being, eating habits, or play habits. Ultimately, I don't know what happened, but my extremely well-behaved dog came back filthy, smelly, starved for attention, and with an injured eye. I will likely use the Pawington instead in the future. The price point is similar and she is returned clean and happy by a noticeably more dog-oriented staff.

This is a review about their on-site trainer, Carmen. She's awesome! Carmen is assertive while also loving and patient with the dogs she works with. I've seen some dogs make some amazing progress in just a short amount of time under her care and direction. She can handle any size of dog and I've seen her help both timid and hyper dogs. You can trust her to take good care and do good work with yours!

When I have an unpleasant customer experience, which is rare, I inform the company directly so the problem can be fixed rather than being "that person" on Yelp, etc. However, after receiving multiple requests by Pooch Hotel to review our experience, I would like to do so as a public service. When our regular sitter had an emergency, I scrambled to find a place so we could go on our family trip.
I thought I hit the jackpot finding Pooch Hotel (PH) in Sunnyvale. It was recommended on our vet's website and the PH website showed a gorgeous dog utopia. I booked a Tuesday-Tuesday stay the Sunday (two days) before. When we arrived with her supplies (bed, toys, frozen and dry food, etc.), all of which were registered on the web application/form for the stay, the nice girl at the counter went through everything and informed us that, due to some infectious disease that had gone around the center, beds and soft toys were not allowed.
Nor was the "all day play" that I booked. I then requested that she be walked once a day ($15) and be allowed to free-eat the dry food we provided. I was assured that the frozen food would be put in the freezer straight away. I was a little annoyed/suspicious with the changes and disparity from what was advertised on the website so I asked to check out the place. An informal tour or quick peek was denied as the dog groups were "changing".
More red flags, so I upgraded the room to one with a camera. Now, I know what you're thinking, we should have just cancelled the trip, but the main reason for the trip was a memorial service that we HAD to attend. Thank God for the cameras. Here is the summary: she was not given any food for almost nine hours, she was taken to be socialized once and she was nervous so that ended within minutes, she was not walked.
I got apologies for the food, etc. but I knew that this was a bad situation. The next morning, Wednesday, I emailed my PH contact and asked that my dog be ready to go at 10:30. I informed my family that I would not be joining them on this trip. Naturally, and despite the previous excellent email response by Pooch Hotel, she was not ready. They collected her and her things and told me that I owed $20.
On top of the $595 deposit that I paid for the entire week. Willing to pay for one night, we talked to the manager who did not have the authority to issue a credit immediately but assured me that it ($525) would be processed in two to three days. It was. Unfortunately, I lost an almost full bag of frozen food since they let it melt entirely before re-freezing it making it a frozen inedible block of raw food rather than the bite-sized nuggets intended.
Do not take any chances with your dog, find somewhere else to board. I had a friend offer to take my dog (I cried) so I was able to go on the trip and my dog is alive. Read the Yelp reviews!

DONT EVER TRUST POOCH HOTEL TO KEEP YOUR PETS HERE. This was my first time keeping my dog away overnight. We scheduled a boarding stay for 10 nights while we were out of the country. I would call to check up every two days to see how he was doing and every time was told that my dog, Diesel, was acclimating to the new environment well and was eating right away (a good sign for dogs in a new environment).
They kept telling me "this is a good sign" and that "all the workers love him". This hotel is full of crap. On day 5 we get a call saying Diesel is now lethargic and he can either be kept in quarantine or get picked up. We had our emergency contact pick him up and once she saw how unwell he was, decided to take Diesel to the emergency vet. After 2 nights at the emergency vet, they concluded that he had kennel cough (a bacterial dog flu) AND pneumonia. Diesel had ALL vaccinations and a flu shot UPDATED.
He was PERFECTLY HEALTHY before his stay and became severely sick there (He's now skin and bones and is on medication). Pooch Hotel is negligent, they seem nice and clean from the outside but that is far from it. My dog is now recovering but if left untreated, pneumonia which is uncommon in dogs, can easily lead to death. Thank god he was picked up early. God knows what would've happened if he was in "quarantine". This place needs to go out of business.

Do not take your beloved pets here. There is a highly chance of you loosing your pet. We scheduled 10 days of boarding for our healthy mixed terrier. Our pet caught pneumonia within 3 days. While overseas we get a call stating our dog is very lethargic and will not eat. They want to quarantine our dog, and wanted to take it to their associated vet.
We felt like we were going to get scammed further so we asked our friend to pick our pet up and bring it home. He came home very sick so our friends decided to take him to vet. After spending over night stay and getting injected with fluid, and spending over $3,000, he is finally recovering. I understand there is always a possibility of a pet catching something in this kind of environment, but after reading some of other post of their non-cleanliness and the over powering foul order, it seems like they just don't care. Do not take your pet here.

My doggie Hailey loves this place and the staff. She is a 6mo German Shepherd and she gets incredibly excited when it's time to go! Hailey gets to go 5 days a week and she is really spoiled. They all know her by name as soon as they see her come in the door and you can see how genuinely passionate dog lovers that are there. They care for all the dogs the same way. It's wonderful to know she is in kind hands and I would recommend anyone to bring their doggie here, they truly care about their guests. Thank you Pooch Hotel! Regards, - Hailey's mom

Only after checking out my dog did they show me the disclaimer that there were instances of kennel cough/dog flu in their facilities. My dog has been severely sick ever since - it would have been nice to have been given a chance to make a choice before I dropped her off. It seems as this place has been going downhill, you rarely can reach somebody on the phone and calls are returned many hours later.

Recently, after a 10 day boarding stay, I picked up my pup and her items (bed, toys, food) and was horribly dismayed. She and her things all smelled of urine. Her toys were soaked in old urine stains and there were feces smeared alongside the bed. The staff claimed this was new, but the stains had been dried and set. They were several days old. When I accidentally dropped the bed on the way to the car, a small, hard piece of feces (several days old) rolled out.
My pup had been sleeping in her own feces. Before I left, I ziplocked AM and PM food - with additional 2 of days for good measure. I gave a total of 24 individually wrapped and portioned sizes. I have 11 empty bags and 6 full bags. I'm not sure if she was given the others. She normally eats 2 bags of food a day, at her own pace. The hotel has feed her before and has previous knowledge of this. I'm washing the bed now because of it's horrible stench (couldn't drive 3 minutes without being overwhelmed by urine) but because it was a orthopedic bed with a foam bottom, it is beyond repair.
It will need to be replaced. I'm not worried about the bed, I'm worried about the standard of care these canines receive in boarding at this faculty. My pup used to love dog daycare here, but this stay has me looking elsewhere.

They have many managers. I guess everyone working there except the receptionist, who is pretty nice, is a manager. Their managers talk in a weird way, which explained things clear enough but never let you feel sincere. You can "see" they are shrugging their shoulders/rolling their eyes again and again in their minds when answering customers' questions. Moreover, my dog had grooming yesterday in their facility while I reserved a 10-night deluxe suite boarding there and ordered full grooming service at the same time.
I regret my decision but also feel lucky. I regret because my dog's bottom got many scratches from the grooming. Now he either scooches on the floor or lays down quietly, licking his wounds a lot. I feel terrible for him. He never had so many scratches from grooming. I feel lucky because this made me realize I can not trust this facility at all and canceled my reservation right away. Bye bye Pooch Hotel.

My dogs have been going there. People are very caring and nice too. I love their customer service. You can call anytime, they are always there for you. I am glad to have them closer to my house. Before coming to Pooch, I have tried many other places, but Pooch's dog sitters really understand your dogs need, and they are always willing to work with you. All the girls, including their manager, is very polite and patient.

I honestly had high expectations for this place because i was paying $99 per night, but they really did the bare minimum for my dog while I was away and I was really disappointed. My dog stayed there for 3 days and they couldn't send me the right webcam to view him until the second day he was already there! The first time they sent me SOMEONE ELSE'S DOG, like really?
And then when i called about it, they sent me about 5 more log ins that weren't working. Also i wanna recommend having a front desk concierge person 24/7 because when I called about my dogs webcam not working, at was 11PM and the person answering the phone was the cleaning guy and he wasn't as experienced with the monitors and all that. I watched the cameras almost the entire time after I received the right login (finally) and, from what i saw, they only took my dog out of his room 1 time to play with other dogs.
I also noticed that they only clean out the pee/poo in the rooms 1 time a day. One night my dog slept with the room so dirty for at least 12+ hours! My boyfriend called to tell them to clean it and they said they'll have someone clean it "right now" and didn't clean it for another 1-2 hours. This place needs to hired more experienced people who will care about my dog's needs before I come back here again.

This place used to be our go to place for years, trusted our two bulldogs here. The team and mgmt must have changed. We brought our pit mix in, a rescue from a boarding house where he was with other big dogs. We've taken this dog to a bark park and watched him get picked on (he's still a 6 mo old pup) and cut on his head as he rolled on his back to play submissive.
So we know he's not the dominant aggressor. So we just ended a 3 day stay at Pooch Hotel and we see that via the webcam that the dog was not joining other dogs during playtimes, except once, as far as we could see. In a previous stay, every time Medium Dogs area was with dogs, he was there. This stay, we only saw him once with other Medium Dogs.
And never with other dogs, so presumably we paid extra for this service that we did not see him receive. Then our owner supplied bed disappeared from the webcam. Replaced by a blanket, which was never folded up and put on the bed webbing after the dog got bored and dragged it off the bed area. I think the dog was under stress, because he never does this at home with his bed.
Maybe because he was not let out enough? But this is the kicker. We pick him up and the dog has three cuts on the top of his head, a bunch of red welts elsewhere on the head (very strange), and a cut under his left eye. We are NOT happy with this mauling. Yes he plays actively and might playfully nip with other dogs, but they are supposed to supervise play time in case a dog bullies another and starts biting.
Maybe you'll have better luck, but we simply will never, ever, take our dog back there until someone tells me they've replaced the entire staff and others go there and tell us that the new staff delivers excellent care. If I can post a pic I will to show you his condition. Oh, and they say the cuts aren't that bad, it's because his fur is white and it makes the red cuts look worse than they are. Wow, I feel much better now, I guess I was over reacting, NOT.
