PAWS was established to fill a need for an alternative animal shelter, improved animal care, and greater awareness of animal issues in Carteret County, North Carolina. PAWS brings new focus to adoption, spay/neutering, and community education and participation. PAWS is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation, and therefore all donors may deduct contributions, bequests, legacies, devices, transfers, or gifts to our organization as long as the provisions of applicable law are met.

Services
PAWS is a small organization doing BIG things! We hope to open during the first or second quarter of 2019 however this depends entirely on raising enough money to complete the tasks at hand to receive state accreditation. This is an all volunteer community service which utilizes our web site to link people with pets that need homes.
PAWS Thrift & Gift Shoppe is now located at 5243 Hwy. 70 West, Morehead City, NC, and is our largest fundraiser. Thanks to our hard working volunteers the store provides funding for the organization's daily operations, ongoing care and rehabilitation of less fortunate pets, and equipping our Alternative (No-Kill) Pet Adoption Center opening soon.
Please consider leaving something in your will and estate plans for the continued care of your own pets and also to PAWS. This is a simple procedure and can make an incredible difference. I give the sum of $______ to Pet Adoption and Welfare Society of Carteret, a nonprofit incorporated in the state of North Carolina, and located in Morehead City, for the general purpose to help rescued, abandoned, and homeless pets.
Your bricks will be permanently located in the safe and lovely front walkway of the PAWS Pet Adoption Center for you to visit whenever you wish. Please help "Pave The Way" for Phase II of the PAWS Pet Adoption Center to become a reality for the many pets that have no place to be safe until their forever family can find them.

Be cautious if you shop here. They have a large quantity of new and used items from the Dollar Tree that have been marked up 2.5-3 times what you would currently pay just down the road at the Dollar store. Their prices are on the higher end for some of their "thrift" items (used books, clothing, housewares, furniture) and right in line for others. The new location (by Lowe's Home Improvement) is spacious and clean. They also feature many new boutique household and jewelry items from local artisans as well.

The place kinda smelled bad. Even for a thrift shop. They most of the time have an odor but this was particularly pungent. The awnings outside were in terrible shape. They are dirty and falling apart. That doesn't give a good impression. They donate proceeds to animals in the area, so that is good. Selection was mostly clothing. Prices are in line and not outrageous.
