Burlington residents and co-owners, Masha and Ryan, set about creating a safe and healthy environment for theirs and other dogs to socialize. Their dogs Kismet and Roscoe have been life long customers in other daycares and were closely inlolved in designing Play Dog Play facility. Ryan, a scientist turned dog handler, can usually be seen on the webcams dealing with the dogs.

Play Dog Play requires interviews for all dogs prior to their attendance in daycare or boarding at our facilities. The interview consists of evaluating your pup's behavior in various aspects of our facility environment. While your pup is individually evaluated by one of our trained dog handlers, you will be able to watch the process from our observation deck and will be walked through the process by our awesome front desk team. Please check back in June for updates and we look forward to meeting you and your pup in the future!
Our goal is to provide a training approach that creates a well-mannered, stable, and enjoyable companion. We focus on providing training and implementing routines that create sustainable behavioral change that extends beyond just the training setting. We work with you to make sure that the results we achieve during training are something you can continue to expect from your dog.
In order to begin the training process, we conduct an evaluation at our Williston Road Training Center. The evaluation is free of charge and allows us as trainers to get to know you and your dog before we meet for our first formal session. This process exists so that you can ask any questions you might have about the training process and the particular program you are interested in.
In-home sessions are available after evaluation and initial sessions occur in controlled environments. Locations that require more than 10 miles of travel will incur an additional fee of $.60/mile. Private lessons allow us to target the skills that are important to you. We are happy to cover any number of issues that dog owners experience from jumping on guests and excessive barking, to working towards a reliable off-leash recall or a down-stay. Private lessons are generally run on a weekly basis, giving the owner time to apply what they've learned in the sessions in the home environment.
Once you've completed a training program with your dog, additional single days of training can be purchased as tune-ups, supplements to private training, or just to give your dog a day of stimulation outside of their usual routine. These sessions can be scheduled Tuesday through Friday. We'll look to give your dog some exercise, stimulation, and of course some structured training time while they stay with us during the daycare hours.

If you have a dog with high energy it will be best to find another establishment. The staff seems to not be organized. I had changed our schedule multiple times to accommodate their needs but these proposed changes began interfering with my work schedule so I was no longer able to accommodate their requested changes. If my location preference was acknowledged then I could have made more accommodations.
After setting a schedule for the winter months in advance, right before it was about to begin we were told they could mot accommodate us until May. I have been left high and dry with little to no time to make arrangements. Better communication and accommodation would have gone a long way in this instance.

The staff here are incredible. So many of them had special bonds with my last dog and they are already so attentive and informed about the needs of my new pup. I always feel fantastic about leaving my dog at PDP, because I know the staff care about her and are watching out for her. Plus, she's having a blast and is developing positive socialization skills.

Upon picking up my pup from his very 1st half day at PDP at 1pm, the person at the counter remarked THREE TIMES during our interaction that I was the first person there that morning, as if it were a problem. (You're open, what's the problem?) They also told me that "We usually tell people with puppies that they should only come for 3 or 4 hours at a time." This information would have been much more useful had it been stated when I dropped him off, not after his day there, how should I know unless you tell me?
My phone number is on file, call me, don't embarrass me in the lobby while multiple other people stand there waiting for their dogs and listening. Oh, and then there's the kennel cough! One half day there and now we have kennel cough. Thanks, PDP. We will never go again. Based on the patronizing way I was spoken to in the lobby, I imagine any response will be rude and blaming me for everything, but from my POV, you had every opportunity to tell me what I should've done but chose to embarrass me afterwards instead of instructing me beforehand.
I am so sorry I showed up when you opened. I am so sorry for bringing my pup for a half day when completely unaware of your suggested timeframe. I am so sorry for my continuing vet bills because of the kennel cough you supplied my pup with who put my other dog and cat at risk. I am so sorry I ever stopped foot in that building. Never again.

Very good experience for the dogs, dont get me wrong. The staff are very good with the dogs. However, almost every time I come to grab my dog, during busy hours, the wait is VERY long. Usually 20, sometimes 30 (!) minutes. Only gave 2 stars for this reason as it is very frustrating after a day of work. Would like to see them have more staff running dogs to their owners during busy hours, if possible. Would love to change to 5 stars.

Never had anything but a good experience here. My dog seemed very happy even boarding for a weekend. I watched hours of video feed when they had it, i saw nothing that was anything short of exactly what i would do watching a heard of dogs. I would recommend. Go about once a week now and continue to see him happy and get some running and socialization time in.

Went in because I wanted to get my dog a new leash and a non plastic wrapped snack. Was successful on the latter. Saw the doggie daycare play group window was right there, being I'm addicted to dogs and a veterinary technician of 17 years and someone who had been part of a Fear Free and Cat Friendly Practice for many years, I couldn't resist.
Immediately the dogs were happy to see a human. Then the shorter statue lady, walking around with what was equivocal to a straight Shepard's hook leashes up the hound in the group with a very sour face and bad body language. The dog barked happily at me. Immediately all the dogs showed fear in this woman. I wouldn't have supported them if I wasn't just looking for a nice snack for my spoiled dogs.
I wouldn't recommend the doggie daycare here. Plus the place was loaded with BEG pet foods (boutique, exotic, and grain free) of which the dog population is the laboratory testing for.

The facility is nice and the front desk staff/initial interview process was fine. We got my dog in right away for only a half-day, which is mandatory for dogs starting off at this facility it appears - not super convenient for anyone who has to travel a distance from work to the facility then home and back to work. All still fine. Was very excited for the webcam feature, way less excited when I pulled my co-workers over my shoulder to watch and the first thing we see is a handler away from the rest of the dogs smacking my dog with a rod as he's leashed.
There was a handler change and the girl in question handed him over to another who handled him much more gently. Not sure if this is common practice in dog daycare facilities but it made me extremely uncomfortable to watch and we will not be going back.

Play Dog Play is a wonderful doggie daycare. We started taking our dog here just over three years ago to join in their Sunday puppy playgroups. It was a great socialization opportunity, and he loved it. Once he graduated from there, we did the basic obedience training, which was really helpful as it was my first dog. Since then, he has been visiting a couple of days a week.
He always comes back happy and exhausted from playing with his friends and tennis ball time. It's so convenient to get him a bath or a nail clipping too. I give this place five stars and trust them with my baby!

We love Play Dog Play at both locations! Our dogs have been going for both boarding and daycare for the past 7 years. The staff is fantastic. They go above and beyond in caring for the dogs. We have tried other places over the years, but PDP is the best. You do have to have your dog interviewed, but it makes sense. Not all dogs do well in the daycare and boarding setting. Sometimes dogs act differently at home than at daycare, too. Plus they let you know if your dog doesn't enjoy daycare, which happened to our dogs as they got older.

As a previous worker here and a customer I wouldn't go anywhere else. After all the horrors of working at the crate escape and then working for this amazing place it is by far the best place to bring your dog. The staff is trained to work with your dog with a 1:15 count so that way your dog gets the best attention it deserves. I would suggest bringing your dog here to anyone, as I've seen dogs come in with no training or behavioral issues (including my own) and are amazing rockstars today!
If you want your dog to have a lot of fun, be loved, trained and taken care of I would stop searching and bring your pup here! Thanks for taking such great care of our pups! If you ever have any doubts just ask for Lyra, who will bring you around the building and tell you exactly how the place works and what you will expect. And with the cameras at both locations, you'll never have to question anything when you can WATCH it!

I must admit I, too, am shocked by the poor reviews I read here on Yelp. They do not correspond to our experience at all. I've used other local doggy daycare services and watched my dog hesitate to go in, come out haggard, and resist going back for more. She got kennel cough at one and that was it. She needed a change. I, too, waited over a week for my dog's interview at Play Dog Play.
I didn't get the whole interview thing at first, but I do now. If your dog isn't sociable and manageable, then I don't want your dog around my dog all day. The staff is totally friendly, warm, and helpful. Our dog, Teddi, has been using their service for over a year. Additionally, my wife works in Williston - so we are thrilled they opened another location. Moreover, I love the fact that they enforce their 'shot' policy; it makes me feel much more comfortable about the health threat that other people's dogs present to my Airedale. Teddi is always excited to pull into Play Dog Play's driveway and she's always exhausted when she comes home. Your dog will be in good hands at Play Dog Play.

We utilized Play Dog Play for some training for our new pup. It was a wonderful experience. My dog responded very well to their techniques. Ryan and Ross were amazing with my pup. They expertly adopted their methods to meet my needs (physical limits) and my dog's (he's a young, sensitive rescue). I don't understand the negative reviews for this place. They smell like fake reviews from competitors. I've never had anything but great experiences with this biz.

We stopped in to ask about day care; medical records in hand. Unfortunately, they have a 3 week wait-list for interviews. What a joke! These are dogs, not college students. On the other hand, the kennel down the street, The Crate Escape, Too, accepted our dog and went out of their way to be accommodating.

I called weeks in advanced to board my dog here. Unfortunately there's an "interview" process you have to go through which is understandable however they had no openings till 3 weeks out. I asked if I could do a day camp and interview on the same day this week so I can get my dog boarded during the holidays and they said no. I would have to come during a scheduled visit just for an interview. Pretty bad processes in place here!

DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG TO THEIR DAY CARE! My dog was viciously attacked by a number of other dogs while the staff was otherwise occupied. The staff left him, bleeding and with internal injuries for nearly 2 hours at their "vet", forcing me to take my dog to the emergency vet instead of my own Vet. They did not help with the costs, saying it was the other dog owners' responsibility. If you value your dog's health and your wallet, find another doggie day care place that takes responsibility for their staffs' actions.

I've only used the self-service grooming station at Play Dog Play so I can't comment on the boarding/daycare aspect of the business. And when I say I've only used the grooming station, obviously I'm talking about my dog Agatha. (I doubt they'd let a grown man wash himself in the sinks!) Anyway, the handful of times we've taken Agatha to PDP for a bath, the washroom was available, clean, and well-stocked with towels, aprons, brushes, shampoo, conditioner, treats, etc.
The water sprayer worked just fine and was easy to work with to get that just-right temperature for a pup. The sinks were big enough for dogs much larger than our lab-mix and included a nice ramp up from the ground in case your pup is no longer a puppy. (Agatha's always got that puppy mindset though so I had to lift her.) The staff was friendly and the price was right ($2 cheaper than anywhere else). Agatha left smelling clean.
We left (mostly)dry and happy to have a dog who didn't stink. So to make a long review short, I can't complain, and can only recommend, provided, of course, you have a dog. Like I said, no human washing stations on the premises!

Such an amazing place for boarding or daycare. My puggle is excited by just the words play dog play, and she always comes away happy! They are super attentive, and genuinely care for your dog. My dog has stayed here several times and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to board in the area. The required interview ensures that only socialized dogs are allowed, and keeps the experience fun for all of those involved.
I also love the cameras because they allow you to actually see your dog while they are there. This is a great place, with a great staff, and definitely one of the best in Burlington!

We brought our Berner here on Sunday for the DIY wash. She's blowing her coat and there was no way I was going to attempt a bath at home! They have combs, aprons, towels, nice tall tubs, decent smelling shampoo/conditioner, great water pressure and a strong dryer. We're very happy with th experience and the results! We will go back and I recommend this place to others!

This is one of the best places I've ever boarded my dog. It's definitely the first place I've dropped her off and driven away 100% confident that she would be expertly cared for, by fellow dog lovers who are genuinely concerned for her well-being. I board my dog at Play Dog Play, but also occasionally drop her off during the day to play at their doggie daycare.
She is always happy to go into Play Dog Play VT. She comes out in great shape when it's time to go home. My dog is quite old (11 years) with some arthritis, but she's able to play for a bit, then find a comfortable place hang out and watch the other dogs run around. There are always a couple of attendants to make sure the dogs are safe and under control.
The Play Dog Play space is new, well-lit, and very clean. The people who work there are very friendly and responsive, both humans and (more importantly) the dogs. For anyone who loves their dog and hates to leave it behind (but sometimes has to), Play Dog Play is ideal. Highly recommended!
