Super friendly owners, always gives us extra treats for the cats! They have the biggest variety of wet cat food we've found around Burlington/Essex.

Always friendly, helpful, informative. I noticed a couple of other not so positive reviews and wonder if you're reviewing the correct place! The owners and staff have gone above and beyond to be helpful during covid. When I was sick they delivered to my back porch! I get helpful answers and solutions to questions concerning my dog. Friendly chats, never feel rushed. a cappuccino machine would make this the perfect hangout!

Can't figure out how a business stays in business that isn't really open. Order ahead and curbside pickup? I don't even know what I want when I don't know what you carry! I understand social distancing and occupancy limits but when the ups store right next door is fully open.something's up. Can't support ANY retailer that isn't willing to at least TRY!

A great store. The owner is not only knowledgable but very helpful with all types of issues. She has more variety than the other large local pet food store in the area. We shop at both places since they carry different products. The owner also has rescued all her dogs and they are socialized but sometimes protect their space. If they know you it doesn't happen and i think the owner is a wonderful ambassador for animal rescue and a terrific hard working honest business woman!

The dog and cat is an amazing pet store. Lots of toys and accessories but especially a great assortment of fine quality pet food and years of experience in dealing with allergies and other complex issues

Being a neighborhood pet store, it didn't give the feeling of being friendly or welcoming. The lady with the glasses was the saving grace. She was attentive and polite. However the woman named "April" was very distant and cold. No hi no bye, and not even a thank you when I spent a small fortune at the store. She did not engage when I asked questions, and just plainly ignored my presence. I dislike Amazon and support local business but the inflation of prices at this store is disproportionately high. This shop lost a returning customer to say the least.

Cute selection of stuff. Pricey but it isn't a franchise so that is to be expected. I wasnt pleased with customer service. They didn't seem very enthusiastic at all and it made me feel uncomfortable as if I should hurry up, buy and get out. Maybe just me :

Edited my review from 3 weeks ago. 2 stars. - inconvenient location (not near I-89) - inconvenient hours. Not open on Sunday - doesn't accept personal checks - doesn't offer a Military Discount - doesn't offer a rewards/points program - owner is only pet friendly to her own pets - same brand/size dogfood for $11.00 CHEAPER @Petfood Warehouse - MUCH friendlier, welcoming, and helpful staff at Petfood Warehouse Won't be returning.

Came in because this is one of the rare shops that carries Fromme dog food. Thank goodness! The owner was very helpful, and found the exact food I needed. She was also very kind when my dog, of course, vomited in her store. Go figure. Thank god for animal people, for the world would be a lost cause without them! Aside from the dog food, she carries SO many different kinds of chews/rawhide/etc types of treats!

A wide range of coats (from simple rain jackets to Russian winter worthy coats) and "clothes". I'm pretty sure she carried even more pet essentials, but I was 100% occupied with the vomit, coats, and treats to notice!

Owner is nice and knowledgeable. No complains there. This was the first pet store I came to when I first got my puppy. Even though it's a small store, the owner's got it nicely jam packed with pretty much everything you would ever need for your pet. However, unlike any other pet store in the area, you can't really bring your dog into the store. Firstly, because the store's so small and packed with stuff, if you're dog is bigger than 10lbs he'd knock everything over and secondly, because she usually has her own dogs hanging out with her behind the cash register and they are not well socialized.

This is the best pet store in this region of Vermont. The owner takes great care to ensure she stocks only the finest pet foods, treats, toys, etc. Her specialized knowledge has been helpful to me on a number of occasions, such as transitioning my dog and cats to new foods. I have many options of pet stores to choose from and I continue to shop at The Dog and Cat because of the outstanding service and excellent products. It is completely worth the drive if you are not in the Essex Junction area.
