When you apply please always use the same email address. If we need to look something up later and you used a different email we are often not able to find it. Our biographies are always very detailed. Therefore sending an enquiry asking us to repeat what it says in the biography causes a lot more work and delays our response. We are a small non-profit and do not always have the help to answer as many enquiries as we get.
Filling out a Dog Adoption Application does not guarantee you an adoption. It does help us determine if the dog you inquire about is suitable for your home and to suggest others not yet on our site. Your Memorial Donations and other Donations to Animal Friends Connection are deeply appreciated. I was so excited about a particular dog they have, only to learn that they don't adopt to people who don't own homes. The person on the phone told me that they will never publish that online because the owner doesn't want to and is stuck in her ways even when it doesn't work for everyone else. It was awkward and very disappointing as I know I would do anything for my future doggy and I just hope that their dogs do eventually find good homes. The dog I'm interested in, they've had for at least 3 weeks. :/

First I'd like to say how wonderful the people who work there are. From my first interaction with April Flowers, to my interactions and phone calls with Victoria, and my brief interaction with the lady who interviews potential adopters. Long story short, I had to rehome my dog, at no fault of her own. Everywhere I called or emailed was either full or never got back in touch with me.
Then I found this rescue. They were compassionate and understanding to my situation and agreed to help me. My dog was placed in the PERFECT home within a month. The transition went smoothly and even though I was heartbroken to say goodbye, I am so confident that this was the best choice for my dog. This rescue does amazing work everyday. You can tell they love animals, and strive to find the best possible home for them. If you're looking to adopt, or would like to donate to their rescue I highly recommend it! These ladies work so hard and I am so grateful for their help.

Great staff LOVE Randy! Showed up unannounced to Randy as there was a miscommunication between myself and another staff member. Randy was very accommodating to the situation and helped me leave with a WONDERFUL pup named Skittles. Please consider adopting from AFC or at least donating to their wonderful cause

Absolutely disgusting behavior. We have been fostering two dogs for over a year! One seems to have been injured so my wife called to ask if they have a vet preference. We were going to pay for the vet, just like we have paid for their food, their shots, their flea treatment. That horrible lady named Victoria laid into my wife saying we owe 300 for each dog. Huh?
The last contact we had was months ago and that was a call to see if we could still look after the dogs during Covid lockdown. Now Victoria is yelling at my wife that I can hear the conversation from 4 ft away trying to tell her that we have been ignoring them? Told my wife that they had taken the dogs off the website and they were not their dogs anymore, but still wanted money.
We said we have no money for that so fine do we need to drop them off to you? No she said. Then what? Fine, if you don't want them then I guess we will keep them. To which she again says we owe them money. No. Your choice was take them back or let them go and you said they are not yours. We are not disgusting enough to pitch them out on the street like you just did to them when you refused to even help us coordinate a vet visit.
You just verbally abdicated all responsibility for these dogs and that is frankly showing the true feelings. It's not about the dogs, it's just about the money. Awful and rude, just like the owner Patricia. All they want is money. It's nothing for than a pet factory churning out as much cash as possible for Pat. They clearly do not care about the animals.
A big screw you and I hope you do lose your place of business soon when your landlord sells up so maybe those poor animals can go to other places and shelters where they are more important than the money they can bring in. You guys are the absolute worst.

Spoke to Victoria, She gave me the most helpful information. You can tell she actually cares about what she does everyday. Extremely helpful, kind and thoughtful. I've been reading some of the reviews for this place and maybe instead of complaining why wouldn't you want help a non-profit organization like this? You can tell they don't have enough funding? DONATE what you can.
It's not always about money. Blankets, toys, food, medical supply's if you have any Hollie that and can help why wouldn't you? Maybe the place might smell a little like urine, it's a shelter! They're clearly doing the best they can with the resources they have. I've really never understood people that always complain but have no suggestions or solutions to help fix the problem.
You can tell they are definitely using their better judgment on who is actually qualified and who's not when allowing people to adopt. Positivity brings productivity. Maybe next time you call or go for a visit, have a kinder disposition? Project your manners onto them? Please and thank you like you were taught. Be helpful and I guarantee you, you'll have a much better response.
I am grateful for these hard working people. I think they're doing the best they can every single day. Stress is normal for such an occupation. I know I couldn't do it. Thank you Staff!

We rescued an abused dog here and they did the utmost to try and give her above and beyond an opportunity for her to have a restored leg that was damaged so badly. I'm so grateful they care this much for these hurting animals. The commitment is to their core. Thank you so much Patricia and Randi. We love our little girl so much. ****Please donate**** As much and as often as you can, they need help in these hard times to help these poor animals. The caring hasn't stopped even as finances have been next to none compared to the need.

If I could give them ZERO stars, I would. I applied for a dog almost a week and a half ago. I then followed up with a call to them so I could talk to the person in charge of adoptions. I was asked a lot of questions by the person who answered the call and then said that more than likely my application would be rejected due to the dog being left alone for 4-7 hours since I have to go to work, despite the fact that I have a dog already to keep this one company.
The next time I called, apparently the same person answered and when I asked for the adoption coordinator, said that she could help me and said that the hours being left alone wouldn't matter if I was a match and had another dog. The third time I called, the same lady said that they still hadn't looked at the applications for that particular dog. Once she realized who was calling and once I started insisting on speaking to the adoption coordinator, she became extremely rude to me.
I gave up on this dog and we were able to adopt another dog from a different shelter and he's now basking in our love. As for the dog that I was interested in from this shelter - the poor thing is still up for adoption two weeks later! Had they cared about the animals at all, this poor dog would've been at her forever home at least 1.5 weeks ago and finding herself loved by a family that has a lot of love to give!

Although I didn't adopt a here, my experience was very positive. The staff are accommodating, very knowledgeable about their animals, and seem to genuinely care about each and every ones well being. I wish one of their kitties had been more suited for my home but I know they'll find good homes thanks to this organization.
