Family Dog Training

Stephen is incredible! Not only was the board and train worth every penny, he has walked us through all training since Remy got home. Its clear he values and cares for each dog he works with, and we are so happy we made the decision to utilize his services.

We took our most rambunctious 5 month old Boston Terrier to Swan Family Dog Training. She was wild! Their puppy program was a miracle worker. Olive came home knowing how to walk on a leash, sit, down, place and more. More importantly they trained ME. With great patience Steven Swan taught me how to communicate with Olive. He explained not just how to do things. but, WHY. Plus, the facility is clean, organized and managed so professionally. Can't say enough good things. Highly recommend him!

If I tell you that the training my 21 mo old Brittany received at SFDT was life altering for both of us you may think I exaggerate. But I'm not. My girl was all nose an no brake making a simple walk around the block impossible. She is fast as lightening and once she gets moving has no recall ability. I contacted Stephen out of fear for her and wanting to have a better life experience for both of us.

After 3 weeks Olive returned a more mature and engaged dog who retained all her sweetness but is better at listening and has an understanding of her responsibilities. Is there more work to do? Yes, training will be an ongoing process for both of us. But we now have a solid foundation and common set of rules and routines. I'm very grateful for the training Olive received and highly recommend Stephen and his program.

We are so impressed with Stephen's training program! Our 1 year old Pomsky was quite a persistent guy. When we picked Togo after 4 weeks of training we were SHOCKED by how much he had learned! Togo now sleeps in his crate with little protest, stays in "place" while we eat meals, greet guests at the door or just need him out of the way for a moment.

He sits on command and I was able to walk him with me on crutches with a broken ankle with zero pulling even with other dogs passing by. I have used a couple other trainers in the past and find that the training isn't really helpful with everyday life. Stephen sets your dog up to succeed in even the most exciting situations. We have 3 active boys running around and found that Togo still responded to commands with all the chaos and excitement going on around him. Stephen was very knowledgeable about dogs and they're natural instincts and personality and tailored training to fit Togo's needs. I highly recommend Stephen's Training program for any dog!

An excellent experience from start to finish. Stephen took the time to not only set us up for success before we boarded our shepherd but also took the time to answer every question we had patiently and with our specific circumstances in mind. Our stubborn, strong labradoodle Teddy spent 3 weeks with Stephen and his family. We had tried lots of different training methods prior to visiting Swan, but Stephen's methods achieved major results! Teddy is still the same happy, energetic dog, but his obedience and attitude are immensely improved. Stephen's facility is clean, well kept and he only has 3 dogs training at a time. Stephen also did a great job of providing exact training steps to keep Teddy engaged and learning. Highly recommend Swan Family Dog Training!

I will forever recommend Swan Family Dog Training to my friends and family! Our sweet girl Gracie just came home from a 6 week board and train and she is such a different dog while still keeping her silly, sweet, lovable personality! She is doing so great transitioning home and Stephen does such a great job explaining everything and transitioning the dog back to their owner. Such a great experience!

Stephen is a great dog trainer! He is very patient with the dogs and all of his training is gentle and positive. He did an awesome job with our Maltese/Yorkie who was struggling with reactivity. We did a 3 week board and train and noticed significant improvement. After the 3 weeks, he spent a lot of time training us in our home on how to continue and reinforce his training. We would recommend him to anyone!

I'm a retired NFL Player. I played Fullback with the Washington Redskins in Super Bowl Vll (Do the math). My Dogs have always been as important to me as my kids :-). After much study and research we chose the Swan Family as our new Labradoddles' Trainer. We have been fortunate to have been able to get the very best care for all of our dogs over the years. Choco is 17 months old now and the Swan Family has been training and taking care of him since he was 3 months.

Whenever we go away, we place Choco in the Swan Familys' care. Most recently when hurricane Darian was headed this way, my wife Gail & I were vacationing on the West Coast. I texted Stephen to see what plans he had for his boarding dogs. We were very comforted when his returned text said ".Not to worry, if we have to evacuate, wherever we go, Choco will be with us."
