Poor customer service 1. - One of the primary reasons we chose this pet hotel - a special selling point - was for the large cat condos that provide lots of light and outdoors views. Upon arriving and taking our cats to their room, we were told that the room we specifically reserved was already taken? Instead of offering up a similar space or solution, we had to do so ourselves. Luckily, there was one room open that met the criteria we were looking for. However, this was not a great foot to start off on. 2. - Didn't send pictures of our cats after having us discuss this with the staff before checking in, during check in, and post check in when we called three separate times requesting the photos that we were promised.
This is not trustworthy behavior from a professional service - this was our first time leaving our cats in the care of strangers and I now have no faith in doing so again. 3. - The hotel wouldn't stay open 5 minutes after close so that we could pick up our cats after having been away for 8 days. Extremely unaccommodating. For a place that claims they love animals and understand the human/pet relationship, you would be hope that they'd be understanding in this situation.
Super disappointing! 4. + One BIG positive. They note the cats behavior, pointing out trends and any issues that could potentially flag health issues. *Keep in mind, with a service like this, all you have in trust in the people working there as you can't actually monitor whats happening with your pets behind the scenes.

If you're looking for a simple animal boarding service that offers a sense of security as you leave behind your furry family members, look elsewhere. This place has really gone down hill over the years, and people should know what they're getting into if they decide to board their animals at this facility. Today marks my third negative experience, and I will NEVER board my dog here again.
They probably wouldn't even let me after the hell I've raised--sorry, not sorry. Here's what you can expect: GROUCHY RECEPTION STAFF who seemingly have no idea how day-to-day operations run; when I have asked questions about the care, grooming, pick-up and/or drop off of my dog, I have often been met with, "I don't know." To which I reply, "Then can I speak with someone who does?" And then, there's the. EVEN GROUCHIER MANAGER who will never actually apologize for an inconvenience, rather hit you with the condescending "I'm sorry you feel that way" bit after you've expressed any amount of dissatisfaction or uncertainty with their services.
She will keep coming at you with this, and it might make you angry. Consider yourself forewarned. She may also try to explain the importance of work-life balance to you if you ask why no one responded to your calls, voicemails, emails, or attempts to pick up your dog early because your plans changed unexpectedly. I don't care if it's a holiday. SOMEONE is there, right? That's what it says on the answering machine. So, I'd hope so.
Perhaps that someone WHO IS BEING PAID TO WORK ON THE HOLIDAY should be trained to answer the phone and help a customer whose plans changed get their dog HOME. In this work-life balance bit, she may also round-about-ly accuse you of not appreciating that people need time off work "just like you do." If taking care of people's animals when they are on vacation bothers a person so much, perhaps they should look into a different career.
I certainly don't want them looking after my dog--not with that attitude. Speaking of attitude, I was also told by the manager that she only cares about her employees--which is a great attitude to have, but care also needs to go into customer interactions. Without us customers, there would be no jobs to balance with life. UNCERTAINTY OF ANIMAL TREATMENT: This last time I boarded my dog, I opted to pay for a full bath treatment.
I let the receptionist know in advance that my dog DOES NOT respond well to having his nails cut. In fact, MY VET ADVISED not to let anyone else cut his nails. Rather than offering understanding and assurance they wouldn't mess with my dog's toes, the receptionist let me know that the groomers would sedate my dog if necessary to complete grooming. Did I ask you to do that? No, I didn't.
And I really hope if you're sedating dogs that you're also asking their owners' PERMISSION first. SKETCHY DIFFERENTIATION BETWEEN RECEPTION STAFF AND KENNEL STAFF: The manager also told me that the staff are trained to use "very specific" language when speaking to customers about the kennel. Red flag, anyone? Their answering machine tells you that someone is always in the back (the kennel) watching over the animals. Yes, the same answering machine I left voicemails on on Memorial Day. Seems like a reach to put information that should be ASSUMED on an answering machine.
You know what they say. The dirt is in the details, and too many details could mean it's all a lie. The man I encountered outside, the one who was carrying a drill and eating a banana. The man who clearly owned the only vehicle in the parking lot. The man who said he was the only person there who was responsible for watching over the animals on Memorial Day--yea, that guy. He probably knows the truth, and I don't want to. If you care about your animals and are interested in maintaining your sanity, don't go here.

Dropped off our 1 year old puppy on 11/24 and picked him up on 12/2 for his first stay at Holiday Pet Hotel. We decided to try this place out based on reviews and given the location. we had to get the influenza vaccine for our dog so he got his second dosage on 11/23 and when they weighed him he was 66 lbs. he is very healthy and fit. When we picked him up we noticed he lost a lot of weight.
You could see his rib bones, hip bones etc. I weighed him when we got home and he is 58 lbs. he was very lethargic and skittish (not his normal self). 8lbs in a week is very concerning. More than half of the food we supplied was returned and 3 of the 4 cans of dog food was returned. But they conveniently couldn't find the blanket or toys we left for him.
I followed up with them and have not heard back to see if he had any issues while he was there. eating, illness etc. we were just told he was great while he was there when we picked him up. we were never called or notified of anything while he was there. We spoke with our vet and they said it is concerning as well and asked that we bring him in. I know it's stressful for dogs to be away and might cause them to eat less etc but if this was an issue while we were away they should have notified us and we could have made arrangements to have our dog picked up by family of friends.
I trusted that I would drop my dog off in good physical condition and pick him up in good physical condition. Definitely not the case. Communication is key in caring for someone's animal and it doesn't take a lot to notice if a dog you are responsible for watching is not eating or adjusting to their environment. I'm sure our dog will be fine and gain the weight back but very disappointed with our experience given the money we paid.

Visiting from Texas, Holiday Pet Hotel came recommended to day-board my 10 month puppy while we explored San Diego for the day. Check-in due to covid is a little clunky, but the staff that watched my puppy was great! We picked up the dog and he was not traumatized. I believe the reviews and the recommendation that dogs love being here.

We have keeping our beloved dogs at Holiday Pet Hotel since the early 90s. After almost a year of not traveling, it was time to board our elderly dog once again. Unfortunately, our dog Jack developed chronic kidney disease and requires some special care when boarding. I needed to go away for a few weekends, including my son's graduation from college.
Holiday Pet Hotel was willing to board him, and was very understanding of his current food and medication regiment. Jack has just spent the past two weekends at Holiday Pet Hotel. They keep a close eye on him, and keep me informed on how he is doing. Despite his health, he comes home happy and playful! I am able to travel now and not worry about our dog.
I have full confidence in Holiday Pet Hotel's care for Jack, and know he is getting the best care. The owner Susan, and the front office staff are extremely competent and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend Holiday Pet Hotel for North County folks that need to board their cat or dog when traveling!

We brought our dog to Holiday for years, for boarding, play time and grooming. They always took such amazing care of our girl. Recently, while on our vacation, our girl took a turn for the worse and they went above and beyond by not only taking such kind and loving care of her but also help arrange for transfer to my parents home so that her last days were spent with family. They are so considerate and kind and I will always be thankful for them.

I am that super nervous dog mom who asks a million questions. Julia the manager was sooo patient answering questions. I took my dog Bruce in for a trial daycare and he did great so I booked 4 days of boarding. i know he was excited to go back since he leaped out of the car and pulled me inside. They kept me updated in his eating and potty and even sent me a photo of him playing with his new friends. I'm so happy I found holiday pet hotel and will be sending Bruce on vacation again soon.

Holiday Pet Hotel has served us wonderfully since 1998. The staff are unfailingly polite and warm. They take excellent care of our small dog. You can even take your pet kitty or dog for daycare. I highly recommend Holiday Pet Hotel for when you need a reliable, safe, welcoming hotel to take care of your furry family member!

I send my dog, Rufus, to Day Camp, and I can always tell he loves being here! Whenever we drive up, he starts vocalizing, excited to get out of the car and into the building- last time he even tried to walk behind the desk on his own before someone came to take him to the camp! The staff here is always super friendly and knowledgeable, and I feel genuinely safe leaving my dog here.

Truly a Gem. If you are worried about leaving your dog anywhere, rest assured this place will take care of you. My dog has separation anxiety (and so do I with her) and was annoying them every minute of the day for 5 days to send me videos and photos to see how my dog was doing. Each time I called, Lindsey answered right away. Lindsey and staff are extremely kind hearted and helpful. Key words: KIND HEARTED. With this company rest assured your dog will be taken care of.

This was the 1st time boarding my Great Dane (they had him for a week). I did extensive research & decided on this place & I am SO glad I did! I was pleasantly surprised by the staff, the cleanliness of the property, & all of the options they provide to help individualize for your pets needs. I even called multiple times during the week to check on him & I knew he was in great hands. I will definitely be using them again for boarding as well as Doggy Day Care. Thank you Holiday! Denver was so beat when I got him home today lol.

I have been taking my Flat Coat Retriever Odin to Holiday Pet Hotel for years. Everyone there is very nice to interact with and they all love animals! I drive all the way from Del Mar because he loves it so much! He knows how to let himself into their office gate that leads to the back kennels and play yard. Holiday Pet Hotel does Boarding as well as day camps.
They never scold me if I'm late and they are problem solving oriented if I have special circumstances. I highly recommend them for grooming as well! They do a beautiful job on his coat and he always comes home calm and mellow from his vacations there. I highly recommend them and I feel they are reasonably priced as well!

Big shout out to the owner and staff at the Holiday Pet Hotel. As an out of state public works contractor I have relied on them to take care of my two year old pitty puppy "Leah". I have used them many times in 2020 and Leah is always happy being dropped of and picked up. This is a great service that I will continue to rely on.

My sweet Simon loves going to Holiday Pet Hotel. He would go everyday if he could drive himself haha. Everyone that works there truly loves dogs and are so welcoming each and every time we go. They even post Instagram photos and videos to share their daily pup adventures. Simon is good and tired when I pick him up and falls asleep in the car before we even get home.

In San Diego for the day and my doggie daycare plan fell through :/ I didn't want to leave my puppy @ the hotel (separation anxiety) for a few hours and tried several people on the Rover app and 3-4 different doggie daycare spots. One place left me on hold for 15 minutes. I called Holiday Pet Hotel and Maryann was very helpful. I dropped my pup at their location (not far off the 5 freeway), completed some quick paperwork and it all worked out. Aretha seemed happy when I picked her up and Julia said she had fun playing with new friends. THANK YOU for coming thru in a pinch. I'll be back on my next visit to SD.

I've been taking my dog Sabre there since she was a puppy 8 years ago. Sabre's reaction anytime we turn onto Union St is priceless as she is so excited to go see the staff and all her play friends there for Doggy Day Care. Even after a 8 month business move to Seattle she knew that road and was almost jumped out the jeep to run to the door.
I often have last minute business meetings that require her to stay the night. As a pet hotel they are super flexible and their AC / Heated indoor / outdoor pens are great in in all seasons. I have to give a special Thank You to Holiday Pet Hotel in Encinitas for taking care of Sabre this week after we were displaced due to a condo fire. You really out did yourselves with not only giving me peace of mind knowing Sabre was safe; but for treating her and I like family. And double thanks for the cute pics! I highly recommend everyone to try Holiday Pet Hotel for your Pets playtime or boarding needs.

I absolutely love this place! I would hands down recommend it, it's as if my family is watching my dog. The staff is so genuine and they truly love animals. They are all so kind hearted, the management team along with the long term employees are absolutely amazing. Everyone I've met in general is so sweet. I'm really happy I found Holiday pet hotel!
All there services are exceptionally amazing. My piglet is obsessed with day camp! They get to spend so much time playing and it makes them so happy! It's not easy to find a pet hotel that truly cares but this one is so incomparable! Love you guys and thank you for all that you do!

Found this place less than 2 miles from where we were staying. I was a bit disappointed we were not allowed inside to check out the facilities. But the front office was bright and clean and the staff was very friendly. So I trust the rest of the place is also clean. My dogs seemed very well taken care of, so I was grateful for their services. This is the first time I boarded my dogs.
The only ding I can give it was the pricing. I was quoted one price over the phone. Honestly, their rates were a lot lower than other places I called. When I called to check on my dogs, I also wanted to confirmed the total cost. I was given a higher amount. I asked to justify the difference, then they gave me a new rate.a much-much lower rate than the initial quote. Yippee, right?
When we went to pick up the dogs, the final rate was back at the higher rate. Luckily, it was not that big of a difference because at this point, what are you going to do? Not pay and not get your dogs back? Vacation was nice, but we were all tired and wanted to get the dogs and head home. So you just pay it and be on your way.

I recently moved from LA to the North County area and was concerned about finding a daycare/boarding place that I trusted. Because I have a background working with animals and volunteered at my dog's old daycare (and knew/trusted the staff + how it was run) I was especially worried about how the staff at a new daycare would handle my dog. After looking into reviews and seeing that they separate dogs based on size and temperament, as well as some other reassuring information, I decided to drop my little guy off for boarding and returned pleasantly surprised.
Not only was it evident that my dog enjoyed his time there, and he had bonded with the staff, but he came back just as (if not more) well-behaved (usually he comes back a total spaz). I highly recommend!

I love this amazing pet hotel and day care! They have cared for my Doberman puppy JuJu for some time now! We were very nervous about leaving her for vacation but they took such good care of her that she now looks forward to day camp at least a couple days a week or more. She love it there! The staff is amazing and loving! I just can't say enough about them. Want to thank each and everyone of you for caring for our baby girl and will miss you when we move in 2 weeks! Thank you and Aloha

First time leaving my dogs for a week on vacation. They had the best prices in the area and the staff was really friendly and put me at ease over my mommy worries. I had called a couple times to check in and was always greeted warmly and assured they were doing great, no worries. The dogs are outdoors for some of the day, which was what we preferred over other places that board inside only.
They were well groomed and happy when I arrived. So pleased with the experience here. Now we know we can trust someplace with my dogs while away and not pay more than we have too. Thank you so much for taking such good care of my boy poms. Definitely be back next get away!

Picked up our dogs yesterday afternoon from an overnight at the Pet Hotel and discovered one of them has a significant flea infestation (see photo I uploaded separately)I've picked 4 large fast moving fleas off of her this morning. Poor thing. Last time we kenneled our dogs in October the other one came home with a mild case of fleas (we found evidence of fleas, but no actual living fleas). Was willing to over look the first incident, but it seems like this is a pattern.
Our dogs are regularly groomed and treated for fleas and ticks with SimpleGuard from the vet. These incidents, after returning from a stay at Holiday Pet Hotel, are the only times we've EVER had to deal with fleas.

We recently boarded our young dog (6 months old) at HPH. I was a little nervous leaving her by herself for the first time, but the confident staff made us and our pup feel at ease. At drop off the on-staff groomer picked up on a skin problem puppy was experiencing, and she was expertly groomed and sweet smelling when we picked her up days later. Her coat has improved ever since their treatment.
Our dog really seemed to enjoy her stay here. :) The location is very convenient if you are beach or San Diego bound from OCO and nearby areas. Let Fido have a care free holiday while you do the same. Thanks HPH!
