Fish Bowl Pets

I've been coming to fish bowl pets for over 15 years now. It's where my first fish came from, and now it's where my daughters have gotten their pets. I just recently purchased a Russian tortoise from here, and the experience was great. They answered all my questions, and got me the things I needed to care for our new tortoise. You'll have a much better experience here than in a petsmart or any of those other corporate pet stores.

So thankful to have a local pet store. We love getting our pet fish, accessories and dog food. Everyone is very helpful

Very unprofessional angry staff very rude when purchasing item that was honestly none of their business. Customer service with older staff male needs to be better. Might nit be the right job for him.

Always health and large selection. Owners are super nice and patient. Have a decent selection of non-fish pets too

I'm sorry but w#^^#*#^^k maybe they are healthy but selling guinea pigs $100 is just ridiculous. I'm looking for a baby companion for my 4 year old who is healthy and I figured it will be healthier if I get it in fish bowl pets store but I've never heard of ordinary guinea pigs for $100 I'm stuck getting from petsmart unless you change your price for guinea pigs. I expect bunnies to be more expensive than guinea pigs

Fish bowl pets in Stamford CT, is one of my favorite small business that I support. Tony and his wife have taken exceptional care of me as a customer seeking both live and frozen food for my pet boa constrictor. I enjoy browsing at their great variety of fish and other animals. I would recommend this store to anyone who has a pet of any kind. From dogs and cats to snakes and fish they have everything you need. Thank you guys for being there!

Tony & his wife are absolutely amazing. Buying food for my reptiles is always a breeze & their friendly demeanor is always welcoming. I'd much rather support a small local business like theirs instead of going to a major chain. Fishbowl on Hope Street should be everyone's first choice.

We recently purchased a leopard gecko for our son and the experience couldn't have been better. Everyone was incredibly helpful and after we drove an hour to pick it up, only to find it wasn't ready to come home with us yet, they called us as soon as it was ready and delivered him directly to us (with a week of food). They truly care for their pets and make you feel at ease with taking one home! I would highly recommend to anyone. Our son loves his gecko, thank you Fish Bowl Pets!

Excellent selection and top line expertise. If the staff feels that your choice of fish is, for any reason, improper ie; is too dirty, will grow too large, will feed on small fish you are purchasing or currently have, will tell you so and forgo the sale. Plus, will board your pets, including fish. Highly impressive operation.

The two women behind the counter had very bad attitude. I asked them some questions about the pets. They always had that impatient and ugly face expression and annoyed tone that make me feel like I was stupid. Very bad customer service. Products are super pricey. The only thing good about this store is that the pets are cute. The people inside are not.

Tony and his shop are absolutely amazing! They have the best selection and such an amazing price. So many varieties of fresh and saltwater. He normally selects the best fish at auction so it's a lot better than a chain store and at around the same price why wouldn't you want to support a family business. Tony is knowledgeable and offers great advice while also respecting you and encouraging the fish keeping hobby. Definitely my new fish store I am excited to keep coming back!

After discovering this pet store online and finding out they are locals they are now my one and only favorite pet store to buy fishes for my aquarium! Today i was searching for a somewhat bigger fish since I've only owned smaller fishes for the past 6 months and this beautiful shark catfish caught my attention at about 4 1/2 inches long I decided to purchase it.

The prices are OK but for the variety and quality these owners provide I am a happy customer. The lady was very helpful in giving me advice for caring for my newest fish and making sure it arrives safely home during my drive :), will be coming back in the near future. (pictures don't do justice, much better in person.)

I had a turtle tank emergency, late at night the tank started leaking at the seams all over our hardwood floors! We got everything cleaned up around 1am with our turtle spending the night in the bathtub. I searched in Google places that cater to reptiles and aquariums, since I wanted a much larger (and safer) tank setup this time and found Tony's shop.

I emailed him that night, and he got back to me at 7:30am! Inside the shop, he made sure that we had all that was needed, including the right tubing to continue using our current filter. All told, I spent around $700 for a 65 gallon tank with glass top, a gigantic turtle dock (my turtle is fat, so she needs it), base, gravel, and 10 ft tubing. Not a bad deal, and Tony made sure we were taken care of.

Total visit time was 1 hour! When we got home, setup took around the same time that it would normally take me to simply clean my previous 30 gallon setup. My red eared slider turtle was very happy with the bigger tank, and she's been having so much fun moving around the gravel!

Wonderfully run family owned pet shop. Tons of fish, knowledgeable, helpful staff, and a great environment. Owners were able to help me and my partner find our perfect furry match with our new ferrets and we can't thank them enough for all their help! Highly reccomend, support small businesses.

I love this shop! I have been coming here since I was a kid and now as an adult I appreciate them even more. I have a pet snake and lived in NYC for ten years where no stores carried the food I needed for my pet. I would always come home to Stamford to bulk purchase mice and other items from Fish Bowl and they have been nothing but kind, resourceful and reliable. Now, I live back in Stamford and I continue to only shop at Fish Bowl.

They have more items and variety than most of the pet shops in town, specifically if you have any kind of exotic pet, and they also come with years of experience, knowledge, patience and friendliness. I can't recommend Fish Bowl enough!

Love this 'mom and pop' shop! Support your local business! Tony helped us out in a pinch over the phone and patiently walked us through some steps for us to fix our clogged filter. We know that we would NEVER get this type of phone support from one of the big chains- ie Petco. A year ago Tony helped us get situated for a new fish tank for my son. He is very knowledgeable and friendly and we will keep supporting the shop. I strongly encourage anyone looking for a pet shop to stop by the store!

We always went to Fish Bowl to buy cichlids when we lived in Stamford. Moved to New Milford 30 years ago and during that time went to some stores closer to home to purchase cichlids and supplies. We even tried online ordering but the cost of shipping was extremely expensive. The cost of the cichlids were expensive and they were small in size for the price.

After all these years it finally dawned on me to take a ride down to Stamford's Fish Bowl. We were so very happy that they were the same knowledgeable owners. The store is IMMACULATE and the variety was awesome. They are very reasonable for the sizes that the cichlids are. We purchased eleven cichlids to add to our 150 gallon cichlid tank. Tony bagged them adequately for our hour ride back home.

Glad to say they are thriving well. Looking forward to going back soon. Yesterday we took another trip down to Fish Bowl to add some more cichlids to our 150 gallon tank. We bought about 14 beautiful cichlids. We took our grandsons with us to pick some out. As usual Tony was very helpful. He was so patient with the boys and went out of his way explaining things. They were not only excited about the fish but seeing the other pets there too. They can't wait to go back again.

I wanted to love this place like all their 5 star reviews on their site ( which now seems weird). It was a drive for me. Upon entering one woman was friendly but the other, seemed like a boss was not friendly. I had a list of fish I wanted and unfortunately none were there at the time I visited. It was interesting walking around but many fish seemed hungry.

I know fish can act that way but I've also never seen pet store fish that act frantic to get near me for food. One even smashed into a filter to get to me. I never saw that before. What a sound his poor head made. I read they are going to rebuild some things but as of today I didn't see anything in the process of being redone. Saw lots that could be redone.

Their lower level triggered my allergies so I had to go back upstairs. The photos I saw online of their store IMO misrepresented the actual store ( IMO). I should have called before I made the trip. I'd recommend you do that if you are looking for some thing specific. Out of all the pet stores I have visited Petco still comes out number 1 and I have NOTHING to do with the store.

Stopped by here today based on reviews. No one else in shop except for me and woman behind counter. I had to say hello to get her to acknowledge me with a nod. Never spoke again or asked if I needed help. Decent selection of fish but quite expensive. Good bye.

Used their service a number of times to clean the pond. They pierced the liner and water drained out. They wouldn't come out to fix it or otherwise offer any suggestions. Just stopped taking my calls and assumed I'd go away.

Our first visit to this establishment - A really nice family owned LFS with plenty to offer. Nice collection of freshwater and marine fish, hardscape, tanks, lights, live plants and supplies galore! They also had a variety of furry, winged and scaled creatures; ferrets, rabbits, birds, lizards, guinea pigs just to name a few! The proprietor/s were very friendly and quite knowledgeable about their goods as well as their creatures.

They offered sound advice in proper pet keeping (I'm an experienced aquarist with over 4 decades of experience) The store was clean and didn't smell like some small pet shops do! No sales pressure, and the prices were quite reasonable. I highly recommend a visit!

I love this pet store! This is probably the only mom and pop type pet shop anywhere around our area. My boyfriend who used to live in stamford informed me of this place, otherwise I would never know that it existed. They have all types of small animals from turtles to rabbits, but their specialty is really fish. I got my angel fish here and she is thriving! any fish I usually get from regular pet stores tend to get sick very easily and a lot of them are very inbred so that too causes them to die sooner.

They take really good care of their fish, and all of their animals here. If you have any questions or concerns the owners and other staff are very knowledgeable. They also have a whole down stairs full of stuff like used tanks and habitats that you can buy for your babies at really great prices!

So. we first visited this place when we had a Betta in 6 gallons, and were enamoured by the tank selection downstairs. 6 years on, the Betta passed, and we bought a 65 gallon on sale at petsmart. Over the last few months, we've stocked it from petco and petsmart, and had the hardest time with sick fish and limited selection. Today, we're back in the area and stopped by the fish bowl; oh yeah, this is the reason we're into fish.

Ah ha. Thank you. I forgot. Amazing selection, beautiful fish, and a walking Wikipedia article for an owner. We left having spent way too much money, but couldn't be happier. We'll be back. Must. Resist. Urge. To shop. At. Box stores.

This place is great! Such a knowledgeable friendly staff! They provided tips and extra literature on how to care for my new fish. They have a great selection. Will definitely go back!

This place is great. They always have a variety of everything and the owners really seem to know their stuff. You go into a chain store like petco or petsmart and you have to take everything they say with a pretty large grain of salt, but I come here and I definitely trust all the information I get and so far, they've never steered me wrong. I've bought live plants, freshwater fish and fish supplies from them and everything is reasonably priced. So happy this place exists otherwise I'd be stuck buying from chain stores or online.

Springdale is a friendly little area of Stamford! This pet store deserves five stars.great variety.knowledgable and helpful staff.decent prices.not an annoying corporate business.

It looks small on the outside. I thought it was some tiny fish place with rickety stuff. NOPE. I walked in and it was like WOOSH paradise. Fish tanks line the walls with a better selection than the local Pet Smart. It may seem a little pricy to someone whose use to purchasing guppies but all the fishes looked healthy and the tanks clean with no fishes belly up. Kudos. Theres an opposite room which holds rabbits but more fishes both big and small. Also they have a couple reptiles and 2 turtles. I fell in love. I cant wait to come back and buy the store up.

It is NOT easy finding a place to buy supplies for your snake in Stamford, CT. Luckily, I stumbled upon Fish Bowl Pets. Not only is it walking distance, but they have a wide variety of choices of supplies per pet! I was only in there for snakes, (and they had everything i needed), but they seem to have it all; dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, various exotic fish, and other reptiles as well.

The staff is extremely helpful as well, they'll help you find everything you need, and help you to your car. I'll definitely be using this place as my snake feeding store, and if i happen to get something like a hedgehog, well, i know they'll help me out with that too. They're closed on mondays, but thats a small price to pay for a great store.
