PAWS rescues and re-homes approximately 200 dogs and 700 cats annually. Many of the dogs are strays from local animal control facilities and most of the cats that we help are strays and abandoned kitties who roam our streets. A portion of the pets that come to PAWS have been relinquished by their owners who are no longer able to care for them. PAWS has a handful of paid staff and a team of dedicated volunteers who help with everything from fundraising, kennel work, walking dogs, socializing cats, and much, much more.
Services
Meet and Greet Appointments are Available for Approved Applicants 12 - 4 pm Wednesday - Sunday. All our cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped. The donation for adult cats (6 + months of age) is $200 and for kittens (under 6 months) is $250.
Submit an ADOPTION APPLICATION online to get pre-approved. Once approved we'll be in touch to schedule an appointment. Please Note: We are not currently adopting to Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine or Rhode Island due to burdensome interstate transport regulations. Donations for dogs includes them being spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccines, 4DX tested, and microchipped. Adult dogs are $375 and puppies are $475.
We offer a reduced suggested donation of just $75 for cats and $150 for dogs which may be waived for harder to place dogs and cats who have been with us more than 3 months. We believe that everyone should experience the enjoyment of a pet. Pets bring us love, joy and companionship at any age. They inspire us each and every day, positively impact our health and make us into better people.
If you have a barn, stable, workshop, home and garden center, feed store or warehouse, you can save the life of a cat who has nowhere else to go! Please note that we do not adopt cats who are suitable to be household companions to barns, only those cats without other options. We refer to these cats as "barn cats" because that is the most common housing option.

We adopted two wonderful cats (a brother and sister) from PAWS ten years ago. We asked for a "dog-cat" and yes indeed were matched with a cat that came to greet us at the door every time we came home and played fetch. Sadly we lost them both to cancer this past year. They were remarkable creatures and perfect for us as first time owners. We were vetted throughly to make sure we could care for them. When the time is right, we will be returning to see if our next cat is waiting to come home with us. I trust the volunteers at PAWS and their ability to find a match.

Nice facility and, for the most part, nice people. Had some issues with foster care. Feline adoption person not the most congenial and certainly not the easiest person to converse with - unless you don't mind having your sentences cut off mid-way and then being hung up on. On the day I picked up the cat that I'm currently fostering I was advised that she was going to need special medication every month (for which I was apparently expected to buy as well as administer).
In my opinion this was NOT how the situation should have been handled. I should have been made privy to this vital information before I consented to fostering the animal. I still would have fostered her anyway but nevertheless feel that the situation could and should have been handled in a more professional manner. As for my interaction with the woman who handles the feline adoptions/fosters - I'll just say that it's been a long time since I can recall such an unpleasant exchange with a person who was/is allegedly acting in a professional capacity.
Being interrupted repeatedly only to have the conversation abruptly ended by her hanging up on me is not my idea of professional behavior (and for the record I did not raise my voice or use any abusive or foul language during the exchange - I just said something she apparently didn't want to hear). Otherwise, when all is said and done, this is a good organization staffed by good people doing excellent work. I would have given it 5 stars had it not been for the aforementioned faux pas in handling the foster and my interaction with the the feline adoption/foster coordinator.

I wanted to write a quick review to counter the negative ones. My experience was not negative, in fact it was an extremely positive one. I'll answer some of the concerns: 1:Yes, the adoption forms are long, but people need to be checked to prove they are who they say they are, and can handle/care for an animal. 2: Yes, the wait is longer than walking into a pet store, but we can wait in line patiently until it's our turn/our day and time to be seen by a volunteer who works for you and the pets. 3: I walked in and yes, one of my first choice cats was already spoken for, but there are plenty of other cats in the shelter and remained optimistic. Besides, the cat most times chooses the person, and not the other way around.
I was able to find the most perfect cat for our family, thanks to a volunteer I think her name was either Linda or Lisa. I'm so sorry I don't remember, but she remembered MY name when we saw the cats, as well as where I lived and my kids and ages, which really meant a lot that she remembered all that! I found James, whom we renamed Teddy, because my husband's name is James.
He is really special, and I feel special that I got such a great cat at a shelter that really cares about the matches made between human and animal. It was a great experience, mostly thanks to that kind and patient volunteer. Please be patient when finding your match, and you'll be rewarded. Thank you, PAWS!

I wanted to adopt a dog and went to Paws. After doing my adoption papers they went out of their way to help me find a dog that would fit into my life style and become a loving member of my family. They introduced me to Charlie a 2yr old mixed Jack Russell terrier. No question that Charlie was going home with me and after 2 weeks he is a loving member of our family.

I will never give a bad review when the adoption was very good and I was treated well. Yesterday I had to give my cat back because my daughter got accepted to a college in another country and had to go with her and be with her, unfortunately the landlord in that country did not accept animals. I had to give up on my beautiful cat. I have to say when I went to take back my cat the lady was not nice.
On top of how sad I was feeling she was acting like I was bothering her when I wanted to show her my cat's belongings so he can feel more comfortable with the transition of not being at his home. I just wanted to make sure he had all his things and it seemed like I was bothering her. Ellen was always good to me but the lady that attended me today was not.
I am sorry I have to give this negative comment but please don't treat a person that has to give back one of their family member that way. You don't know how sad they are feeling at the moment that they have to make that choice. It is already heartbreaking enough.

Truly a remarkable organization that is making the word a better place for four legged friends. We were fortunate enough to recently adopt our newest kitten from PAWS back in September and we couldn't be happier. The process took some time which is entirely understandable considering the pandemic and how much work the staff is handling on a daily basis but once we received our approval, both my daughter and I went to see some kittens. We were very happy to bring home our little Wolfgang and I am so thankful to PAWS for helping us complete our family!
