I used his service twice and he did not do a great job grooming my poodle but I tried to continue to support his small business and he would constantly tell me he had no availability when I know others scheduled with him. He would not respond to messages in a timely manner. If you can reach him, the quality of work is sub par for what he charges. I recommend another groomer of convenience.

My ten year old greyhound has a lot of health/fear issues, and it has been wonderful to have Jim in our lives. He is so patient with my scaredy-cat of a dog who threw up and pooped at his last groomer's spot. One time, I peeked out to see my dog resisting the grooming trailer, and instead of forcing him inside, Jim sat and pet him to calm him down before grooming.
The ease and confidence with which he handles dogs is truly amazing. We even introduced our 7 year old German shepherd/lab to Jim for a nail trim, and she immediately warmed to him, something that has never happened with anyone else. Dogs come out happy, clean, and unscathed!

This review is long overdue. Jim has been grooming our working dog, Gunnar, on a weekly basis for the last five years. He is soft-spoken and mild-mannered which I believe some negative reviewers may have misinterpreted as him being stand-offish. My husband and I both really like him. For one thing, he truly loves our dog. He has teared up on more than one occasion in the past upon learning that Gunnar was having a surgery or when our boy was diagnosed with lymphoma. Second, our dog loves Jim.
As much as Gunnar hates baths, he still rushes to Jim's voice every Tuesday morning, tail wagging. Gunnar has terrible allergies to everything- plants, insects, dust, you name it. Jim has a background as a vet tech and is knowledgable about secondary allergy issues such as bacterial and fungal infections. He uses antibiotic shampoo with Gunnar and really keeps an eye on our boy, letting us know if he's noticed the start of an ear infection or any areas of skin irritation. Overall, Jim has been a loyal and dependable part of our pup's circle for the last five years, and we are grateful to have him.

The first is a photo of Eva after her grooming by Jim on 7.24.19. For this, we paid $210 including tip and some ear meds for 2 dogs. I left my dogs with Jim for their first grooming after explaining what is usually done (our regular groomer had moved away to Las Vegas). They had a flea infestation which left them slightly matted (see picture 2) but I did NOT want them shaved.
I came home after lunch and found my soft coated wheaten like this- a shaved, hacked looking dog. I was positively horrified and it took both of us 3 or 4 months to get over this. I have since spoken to Jim about this and his response was that she was really matted and that she had not been groomed for months- which is untrue. I am posting a picture of my dog from 2 days before he had her.
Plus she was last groomed at Bone Adventure 6 weeks ago, and I had a receipt to prove it. Jim offered to redo her cut err shave, but I have no doubt we can never use him again. I am posting this picture because I would never want this to happen to anyone else's dog. Sorry Jim. What you did to Evie just wasn't right.

I don't understand these reviews. This guy is maybe not the most personable person but he's VERY nice, straight to the point and does a great job. My dogs have never been nicked and he does my friends cat and always does a great job. He takes detailed time just make sure you have a large window because he's usually late. Yet WORTH the wait.

We loved using Juan for our 'special needs' puppy for his truly gentle and loving way with her. However, dealing with Jim (who is so rude and unprofessional I dont know how he stays in business) in order to get to Juan, became more than I was willing to deal with. I'm very glad to see that Juan is with a different company now and I will definitely be using him again.and referring everyone I know to him as well.

Had the pleasure of meeting Juan today. He was very gentle and thorough with my senior Newfie. This was the first time my fur baby didn't try to pull me away from the groomers afterward! She actually was calm and gave him luvies. I wish I had thought of mobile grooming years ago because it's definitely less stressful on my Newf. We will be using this service from now on!

I have a 7 yr old open coat German Shepherd and a 2 yr old blind from birth Belgian Malinois - both rescue dogs. I had been using Jim and his assistant Juan for several months and had been pretty happy with the service. I was out and about the last time Jim was here, but my wife was home. When I came home I noticed blood all over our entranceway and that our Malinois was bleeding from one of his dewclaws.
It had been cut very short. I called Jim, not mentioning that it was his dewclaw, and he said he hadn't noticed anything and that what likely happened was that the Malinois injured the nail when jumping down from his truck. He suggested a product called Quik Stop. However, after looking up remedies on the internet I was able to stop the bleeding with baking power.
I then realized that it since it was the dewclaw that was bleeding, the chances that the Malinois injured it when jumping down from Jim's truck was highly unlikely. I also then noticed that the other nails on his foot were pretty long and did not look like they had been trimmed. I then remembered that when I first spoke to him about grooming the dogs, I wanted to make sure he used a dremel and not a nail cutter.
He assured me that he did. What I believe happened is that Jim used a nail cutter, cut the dewclaw way to short and that due to the Malinois' reaction it became too difficult to trim the other nails. He probably got the bleeding to stop temporarily, but maybe the Malinois bumped it after Jim left to start the bleeding again. Basically, I believe Jim tried to cover up what happened.
I would much rather that he had been honest and maybe I would have continued to use him, but under the circumstances I can't do that nor can I recommend him to anyone else.

First time trying a mobile dog groomer and it was awesome! I don't have the easiest dog to handle when it comes to grooming and Jim did a great job dealing with his barking, nipping, etc. He has the credentials necessary to clip nails as well which was awesome. The groomers I have used in the past couldn't do nail clipping, which was a real inconvenience. I would definitely recommend Ace Pet Grooming.

Sorry to write a negative review however I had a really bad experience with Jim today. The groomer Juan is a wonderful person but he was an hour late today and I had to cancel as I had other obligations. Jim wanted me to still pay half the fee even though no grooming was done and the groomer was very late. He told me if I wrote anything on Yelp he would write an answer and say that I was a toxic client, not so. Sorry to see Juan go but I cannot and will not deal with awful people like Jim.

Wow. I am so happy I've found this grooming service for my puppy Teddy! Juan and Jim are both AWESOME! Juan really does a excellent job caring for my 6 month old puppy and making him feel comfortable. Teddy is very scared of getting groomed but feels comfortable with Juan. Today was Teddy's second time and he ran straight up to the truck and was ready to go. Having bad experiences in the past with previous groomers (with our other dog who passed away in June) it is very refreshing to have a reliable, professional and knowledgeable groomer taking care of my Teddy. Highly recommend!

Jim came today, what a nice, caring man! He made our Cocker Millie look great right down to the pink bow, and she hadn't had her last grooming on time so she looked like a floor mop. I had not tried a mobile pet groomer before, and yes they used our electricity, but my dog was SO happy. She usually starts to shake when we drive in the parking lot of our past groomers. This time she followed him as he set things up wagging her tiny tail the whole time. I couldn't be happier Thank you, Jim

Jim with Ace pet grooming was extremely compassionate and did a great job. My cat sometimes hides when people come to the door and she did so for about 15 minutes. Jim was extremely understanding and helped me retrieve her. We have never shaved her before, however decided to do so with the heat and her shedding. It was the best decision we have made! She is no longer getting sick with fur balls and she didn't seem to be phased at all by the experience! Will definitely be a repeat customer.

Took HOURS to do 2 cats and a dog. The tech was trying to go slow because my dog was so scared, but it just took way too long. Also, my poor cat had the worst haircut ever. Seriously botched. We laugh at him every day now. Oh, and they try to plug in to your electricity source because their generator is obnoxiously loud. For that amount of time however, thats a LOT of energy.

I'm not sure what's up with the comment about being on the freeway but that has nothing to do with the business. I use Ace for my cat because she is deathly afraid of by sort of crate. They are always on time, very friendly, and get the job done quickly without any harm to my cat. Though she isn't very fond of it, they make my life much easier by coming to my house!
I can always call the day before for a next day appointment which I love cause I'm a last minute kinda gal. I would highly recommend this company to anyone for their pets grooming needs :

Didn't finish this review from June 2010! Jim did a wonderful job on our husky and lab. He was able to do a last minute shave on our lab. They're both so happy now thanks to him! I think the best part is that he comes to our house. I hate having to deal with taking my two huge dogs to their groomers. Extremely convenient and easy!
