I always enjoy you Jean and your children and puppy Dogs! Keep up the good work with Chief! I highly recommend Rude Dog University for training! I refer most of my clients with puppies to Karen - and all of my own dogs are go through the program here! I can't thank Ms Rude enough for the private lesson which we found so helpful.

This is by far the best dog training place in town! We have been to a few and Karen's no nonsense training was just what Louie needed. After 1 class his behavior was improved. After 3 classes we had a different dog! Highly recommend Karen's classes! It's not puppy social hour. This is training! Expect to be the boss of your dog. Loved it.

Have taken our dogs to Karen for around 20 years now, (German Shepherds, Springer Spaniels, Labs, ) and always recommend her to others. Very happy with the help she's been to our family. Her dogs are happy and my dogs always benefit from the socialization in coming to class. She is a great balance between positive affirmation and dealing nicely yet effectively with problem dogs. Highly recommend!

While the training was mostly helpful, the way we were treated was very rude. Our puppy was very ambitious and excited, but my mom was not up for handling him as much after knee surgery and we were constantly glared at or made as a bad example because of that. Anywhere else can help you with training without this bad attitude.

When our family lived south of Eau Claire, we occasionally boarded our dog at Paws & Claws. However, when we moved to Fall Creek, we decided to try Rude Dog U boarding at the K9 Dorms. Never again. The misunderstandings, frustrations, and expense have been terrible. Our elderly dog was a boarder there in early June for 2 nights and is still affected by the bad case of kennel cough (Bordatella) that he caught there.
He was immunized against kennel cough but I've done some research online and learned that the disease can be carried by virus as well as bacteria. The kennel cough was just the worst part of boarding here, but there was plenty more bad stuff to make us say "never again". The weekend we boarded our dog had at least 3 days in a row of 90+ degree heat.
Our dog was nervous and excited when we dropped him off and the owner told me she'd put him outside to help calm him down. I couldn't believe it and told her to NOT put our 10-year-old English Bulldog outside in the heat. However, at the end of the weekend, she told me they had to "hose him down" with water twice to keep him cool. If they had simply left him inside except for short periods he wouldn't have needed to be hosed down. I'm sure the hot air/cold water/cool kennel changes contributed to his stress and sickness.
Another thing you need to understand about the K 9 Dorms is that you're charged by the DAY, not the night. If you drop your pet off at Paws & Claws in Eau Claire on a Friday afternoon and pick him up on Sunday afternoon, you'll be charged for 2 nights' stay. At K9 Dorms, we were charged for 3 DAYS' stay, from Friday at 4pm to Sunday at 5pm, for a total of $63.50.
Nowhere on line or in person was the pricing fully explained, so you'll only find out like we did, when it was too late to correct the misunderstanding. The additional money that we spent on boarding plus what we spent at the E.C. Animal Hospital to have him treated for kennel cough has been expensive. In addition, you'll find out the hard way that even though K9's website lists the "hours" that they're open for drop-off and pick-up, they're actually open by appointment only. Again, we learned this the hard way when we told them we'd be in on Sunday afternoon (website says they're open from 5-6pm on Sundays) at 5pm.
We drove over 4 hours from southern Wisconsin to be able to pick our dog up between the 5pm and 6pm stated hours and actually arrived at 5:20pm. We were told by the man who owns the store next-door to K9 Dorms that the owner waited for us until 5:15 and then left to run an errand. It turns out that at 5:01pm, she left a voicemail on our home phone, trying to find us.
Our cell number was listed below our home number on the immunization paperwork we gave the owner, but she chose not to call that number and save us the trouble. So please understand that there are only appointments here, not standard hours of operation, and you'll save yourself a lot of misunderstanding and frustration. Good luck.

I contacted Karen Rude about a family crisis. My 16 month old son was bitten by our family dog. I could not believe the way she acted. I stated our dog was laying on the couch. She yelled you never allow your dog on the couch. However, in sales pitch for her labs she states they will warm up your couch or bed for you. She then start screaming he is a terrible dog!
When I say scream I mean SCREAM! She would not even allow me to finish a sentence. She asked if I contacted the breeder. I said yes but she hasn't gotten back to me. She screamed again of course not and she will not. The breeder returned my call as soon as she was out of the hospital. All she keep saying was my dogs will never growl at me when they are eating.
My dogs my dogs! I really don't care about her dogs. This dog was a family member. He was highly trained! He would obey anyone. He made a mistake. He did not attack the child. He bite him once. Was it wrong OF COURSE! Having a so called professional dog trainer yelling at me within 24 hours after my child was bitten was down right RUDE. I am warning people about her because I wish I would have been!
