Our concept has always been to have a place where anyone can shop for their furry, feathery and scaly friends, a place where animals and customers come first. Benson's Pet Center is a small independent chain of full line pet supply stores that have been helping your pets maintain a healthy lifestyle since 1992. We carry the supplies you need for your four legged friends but don't worry, we didn't forget about your feathery and scaly friends. We have them covered too! We specialize in helping our customers find exactly what is best for their pets based on that particular animal's needs.

Services
As we all know, fuel costs and other operating expenses are on the rise. In order to continue our delivery service, Benson's has to change our delivery program. Starting June First, the minimum purchase to qualify for delivery will be $50. To offset direct fuel costs, there will be a $10 fee for all deliveries.
Self Serve Dog washes are a new addition to our stores. We currently have two open, in our Saratoga Springs and Rotterdam locations, with plans to expand to our other stores. Out of consideration to other bathers, store employees, and shoppers, if you have been skunked in the past two months, please wash at home.
What are Benson's Best rewards? Every time you use your Benson's Best account, you will earn points on qualifying purchases. How do I earn Points? I went here to adopt my guinea pigs a few months ago and later get items for them too, the selection is fabulous! They have huge varieties of different toys and fun activities that I had never seen before even after months of research. The cages for bunnies and guinea pigs are huge. I love this place and I don't think I have ever been to a place with such proper care.
I've never really written a review before, but I thought this was a must because I am literally so impressed with all the toys and treats! There were foraging activities, tons of hides, cardboard castles with hay, play mats, so many treats, cool toys, and more. After shopping at pet-smart, I did not come here with high expectations but they were definitely beat. Thank you Bensons for having proper care and I will for sure be coming back :))

I went there today because I needed betta tank stuff- top, light, living decor and plants. I got help from a lovely person named Ellen who helped me find everything I needed and helped me educate myself on giving my future betta the best home! They are an amazing employee, I will definitely be coming here more often. Very nice quality of aquatics and very welcoming atmosphere

Benson's offers quality products at competitive prices. I know this because before I moved here I did the bulk of my shopping online. They carry Fromm foods and participate in the frequent buyer program which is a huge convenience. I've never experienced anyone being rude in the store I shop at but there are occasions when there aren't quite enough people at the registers to take car of waiting customers.
This seems to happen pretty much every place I've been though (banks, grocery, Lowes etc.) so I don't consider it as much an affront as what seems to be a way of life in the Glens Falls/Queensbury area. I love Benson's!

Went in to pick up one item, a pooper scooper. On display with a $13.50 price. Rang up $16.50. Accused me of moving item to less expensive display. There were 3 hanging there. I explained that the law in NY is clear in that if something has a price on it, you need to give it for that price. They called the really nasty manager. And other cashier couldn't stop being nasty. I would never go back there Awful people. And not on the level.

So, you need to realize, I'm a young fishkeeper. I have tons of fish tanks, and I just want the best for my fish. The past time I went there, (yesterday) everything was fine. I had gotten the Aqueon Jukebox 5 Gallon Fish Tank. It had been in there for SO LONG that they marked it down $27, so instead of $85, I got it for $58, which was great. I got checked out in no time.
But one time I went there, the lady was hesitant to sell me fish! I asked for assistance and she kind of rolled her eyes, then walked over, obviously annoyed. I then asked for the fish I was going to get. I was going to get a blue powder gourami for my 10 gallon, and she said, "I don't know. we usually need 20 gallons for those." Obviously just wanting to go back to what she was doing.
She was obviously either uneducated on fish or was lying, because EVERY online source for a blue powder gourami minimum tank size says it is 10 gallons. So I told her that, and she said; "Fine." And then she got my other fish and gave me a long thorough explanation on ammonia, nitrates and nitrites, as if I didn't know that after keeping fish for seven years.
It just wasted my time, and eventually she was done, and the cashier was friendly as always, so I don't think it was the store's fault, it was hers, although they should've made sure she was kind to customers before she was hired. And every other time I was there I had no problem. It is clean, and nice, but that lady was just very rude, and I just felt like she immediately thought I didn't know anything about fish because I'm not an adult, and that just agitated me, because she was obviously being ageist.
The store is great, but she is the reason I rated it 4 stars instead of 5. A lot of the products are also overpriced, like one of the tanks there, a Frozen fish tank, was $20, when you can get it online for about $5-$7.
