A healthy mouth makes a healthier and happier pet! Dogs and cats can experience the same kind of oral pain and discomfort that we do; however, they aren't able to communicate this to us. At Firehall 4 Animal Hospital, our veterinarians and technicians offer excellent dentistry services as well as education to our clients on how to provide the best at-home care.
From puppies and kittens to senior dogs and cats, each stage of life brings new adventures, challenges, and health needs. In an effort to make the best care possible more affordable, we have developed specialized wellness plans to carry your beloved pet through all different stages of life. Each time you're in our office, we will assess your pet's current health as well as have a discussion with you about their lifestyle, environment, and any relevant concerns. We welcome communication about your concerns and encourage you to let us know if your pet has experienced any changes in their health or lifestyle.

We recently took our dog to Firehall to be shaved. We made it clear he is a tough case, which they should known as well because we brought him there before. We told them he needs to be sedated to shave him fully. We came to pick him up and he was only half done! They apologized and said he woke up early. We asked if they would finish it and they said yes, but we would have to reschedule a time that they would charge us the sedation fee AGAIN- after they misjudged what he needed to stay calm during shaving. We will not be returning and now we have to shave him ourselves.

At first, this primarily women operated business seemed great. However, they are really just mean, gossipy high school girl type of people. When I went they would talk badly about their clients, for no real reason. Saying horrible things, then when they walked in, pretended to be fake nice and adore them. I recommend going somewhere authentic. Where you and your pet feel safe and loved, most importantly taken care of!

I found Zeus's vet for life here in one visit. I don't remember your name, but you were awesome in handling my boy. Both of you were. I love that cat more than my own life, here he was given the love and respect he deserves. I've known about this place for years, they tried to help me save a tiny kitten once many moons ago. I know they care. If you love your pet, bring them here when they need a doctor

They're getting 3 stars because everyone is very nice and seem like they genuinely care about your pets which is great. I've been coming to them for 6 years with no problems until my recent visit. I just felt like they were being shady. I needed blood work on my dog before she was able to be put under. But instead of just doing the blood work like was discussed they added on exams without even telling/asking me first and of course that made the price increase $50.
It made me upset because no one discussed anything with me first. Then after the procedure there was another set of add on charges that were never discussed. So instead of a $425 procedure it turned into a $700 procedure. All I'm saying is make sure you ask them questions and make sure you specify what you want so they cannot add stuff on without you knowing.

Everyone here is so nice and professional. From the front desk staff to the veterinarians. I know I don't have to deal with attitudes or anything of the sort when I come here. I've been bringing my dog here since he was a puppy and he's now 2. Recently he had to have an ER visit and I brought him to Firehall for a follow up because he wasn't using the bathroom.
Instead of charging me for an office visit fee where he wasn't actually treated, Dr. Glikin advised that I wait a while to observe him. And sure enough he went poop the next day! I really appreciate that she was cognizant of the fact that I had a pretty expensive ER bill and didn't want me to incur any more financial burden. And they even do follow up emails or texts to see how your pet is doing. I feel like they actually care about their patients and even their owners!

I love the way they take care of our three dogs! Firehall doctors and staff are friendly, helpful, and knowledgable. They always make time for follow-up calls/questions and explain things in the way that I understand. I have had only good experience with Firehall Animal Hospital and highly recommend.

From the moment we stepped in they were welcoming and professional. I left feeling that my baby will be cared for with genuine care and professionalism. During her visit I was included and had everything explained very clearly. I truly appreciate how we were treated and look forward to a very very long relationship with Firehall 4 Animal Hospital. Thank you Thank you Thank you

Firehall 4 Animal Hospital has been so great with our pets. We have been going here for 5 years and have always been so happy with their customer service and their interactions with our pets (dogs & bunny) have been so amazing. We had an emergency surgery situation a few years ago and they were seriously incredible through the whole experience, always fair and go above and beyond to check in with us after each appointment. Highly recommend.

Our cat Gracie got sick and we were able to get her in to see the doctor the next day. Gracie is not a "people" cat and does not like to be held. She runs and hides whenever anyone comes to our door. The gentle ladies at Firehall 4 put her at ease by giving her a nice towel to hide in and by handling her gently and talking sweetly to her. They answer all our questions and explain what's going on in understandable terms.
They explain what tests and procedures can help with the diagnosis and let us know how much those tests or procedures cost and let us decide if we want to have the work done. And, they follow up the next day to check on how Gracie is feeling. We trust these ladies and highly recommend this great practice!

I trust Firehall and all the great lady vets to take the best care of my pets. I had a poodle with Cushings. They helped keep him going until the very end. And even that was a good experience because of exceptional kindness and professionalism. My cat Izzy is very sensitive and particular and they are kind and gentle and appreciate her funny personality. I'm thankful for them and the staff that is so well trained and compassionate.

This is by far the worst vet I have ever taken my cat to. When she passed away I was extremely upset I had her for 12 years and I couldn't even function I was so traumatized and the vet said some very SHOCKING, HURTFUL AND COMPLETELY UNCALLED FOR things to me about my "behavior". Wtf? I can't tell you how many ppl I have talked to that have said this USED TO BE a nice animal clinic until Dr. Karen left and that Jennifer lady bought it and had gone totally down HILL! Doesn't even deserve one star. Horrible

I absolutely love and appreciate all the girls that helped me and my sister. Me and my sister took our older cat into to see what problems she was having(she was breathing very hard and very clingy more than usual). We found out she was either having a heart failure or cancer and she had a lot of fluid in her entire body. They gave us a couple of options but we all knew the best decision was to put her to sleep.
They were so supportive and understanding while me and my sister grieved and let us have time to say goodbye. You could tell the wanted to help us the best they could. Even after we left they sent us a card to let us know we were in their prayers/thoughts. Thank y'all so much for being so respectful and understanding and supportive. Would recommend 100%.

The absolute best vet in the Athens area, hands down. I take my four dogs here and I feel very confident in the care they receive at Firehall 4. They take great care of my crew and the doctors really listen to your concerns. The entire staff is great and I would never consider taking my dogs anywhere else.

Maybe the vet's office is still good, but since new management took over their boarding hasn't been good. My dogs weren't traumatized, but they used to do better than two walks a day and letting them pee through a grate in the kennel the rest of the time. I expected better considering how much money I spent there. They washed my dogs before returning them, so I wonder what their kennels looked like.
They didn't tell me they were bathed right before they went home, but I know because the dogs' collars were switched. Oh, and they've changed their pricing for sharing kennels. Things are different, so I wish I'd personally checked the kennels beforehand and clarified their policies the way I would have with an unfamiliar boarding facility.
They used to be the best. I would drive over an hour when I absolutely had to leave my dogs, all because I trusted them so much. They're not worth the money and hassle anymore. Okay maybe for short stays and if you live in the area. But still, always check the kennels personally to be sure.

I left my 2 fur babies in their care. I picked them up a week later and am still not sure what all happened in their care. My little one had multiple wounds of which their response was "oops." They admitted to not following our initial directions for care. They admitted that their lack of following instructions is what landed my little one with "wounds." Never again.

I have an almost 10 year old English bulldog with the typical bulldog issues. Since moving to Athens his skin has gotten the worst it has EVER been. I was seeing another vet in the Athens area that encouraged me to do hundreds of dollars worth of allergy testing. We did it, and found out our bully was allergic to life. They then recommended that I buy these super expensive allergy shots to give to him monthly.
I love my dog as much as I do my kiddos and I would go as far as I could monetarily to keep him healthy, but this wasn't going to be feasible. Had to find a new vet. On recommendation of a friends, I called F4. My first visit with Dr. Peterson was incredible. She actually talked to me like I was a human being and listened to my treatment concerns when it came to money.
She worked an extremely feasible treatment plan out for my bulldog and even started us on a new miracle medicine (which really IS a miracle for him) that had been recently released. I have never looked back. We've also boarded here and my feelings were hurt when my bully didn't even greet me when I came to pick him up, but turned back around to the vet tech to take him back to his boarding digs. I swear he gets depressed for a few days when I pick him up. Give Dr. P a try! She is awesome and understanding and I am so glad they love my big dawg as much as we do.

I scheduled a week in advance to have my new puppy examined whom I had just picked up at the airport on the same day. I was told that this appointment time slot was wide open and was even told that again a couple of days before picking up my new puppy, just to make sure. But when I arrived on time for the appointment, a few others started coming in at about the same time ( non-emergency appointments), then even more after that.
I waited and waited, then over-heard that they only had one doctor on duty. During the time I was there, I repeatedly told them to fax the results of the exam to where I had purchased the puppy, as this was what I had agreed to do as a condition of the purchase, to be done within 2 days of having the puppy. I showed and gave them the fax number. I waited and waited again.
Finally the doctor showed up to do the exam and all was considered well with the puppy and I was glad. But then, 4 days later I find out that the fax was never sent! Needless to say, my puppy and I will not be going back to this place again!

We LOVE this place! We recently moved to Atlanta but will still drive back for routine check-ups. Dr. Middendorf is fantastic and really cares for our dog like it's her own. The entire staff is great and spoils our pup. :) Their prices are very reasonable and they do not try to suck you dry like some other vet offices. Our dog (now 4) has been going there since we got him as a puppy and we will continue to bring him there from Atlanta as long as we can.

I just moved back to Athens and this vet was recommended to me and is close to my house so I took my dog there today. They are so great! I've seen a lot of vets in my day, and this was one of the best. The front desk folks and vet assistants were super friendly and obviously love dogs. The vet (Dr. Karen Middendorf) was extremely accessible, answered all of my questions, and seemed actually invested in my dog and his health. Plus the building is a rehabbed old fire station and is very nice inside. They also do boarding, apparently. Great place!
