Small Animal Medicine refers to the treatment and diagnosis of smaller animals, such as dogs and cats but also many other species of animals. Our staff is highly trained and experienced in how to care for small animals like dogs and cats, as well as exotic and pocket pets. Working with animals is our passion and we strive to provide the highest level of care possible for your pets.
We have been Deschutes clients for years, but, this is the first time for overnight stay for Pepper and Mei-Mei. If it is possible they come home more spoiled than we have them. Thanks to the staff and doctors for taking such good care of us. Gabby, thanks for treating us like family! This was my first visit to this veteran as my vet office closed.
On behalf of the staff at Deschutes Animal Clinic, we are honored to pay respect to our beloved animal friends who have passed. We also welcome you to create a lasting tribute for your beloved pet or animal friend on our website's Pet Memorial page. Please send us an email with an image and a short biography.

When preparing to bring our new doodle home it seemed impossible to find a vet that wasn't booked months out. Turns out not only did they have an opening in the knick of time but their staff is stellar. Whatever stars aligned to get our foot in the door I'm grateful for because they're conveniently located and had way better reviews than the local vet near my home. I will keep coming to these guys for sure.

I cannot say enough amazing things about the care team at Deschutes! Not only did they help diagnose and start a great treatment plan for a furkid we have spent thousands of dollars on to try and heal and over 7 years. They were able to in just a couple of visits. They are on top of their game with record keeping! And are so amazing with every single furkid we have brought in. (6) They always have appointments available in a timely manner and make sure to have the visits necessary.
The entire team is always friendly and so caring. They have impressed me so much. After coming from Germany of 7 years where animals are treated as children and care is more affordable, Deschutes has greatly lived up to their name. Thank you for the amazing care and continued care you are providing for our animals.

This is ridiculous! You will be charged an additional $20 for this "technician appointment" that they made up on the fly to charge you more. They will not notify you of this additional charge when you make the appointment. PLEASE before you make an appointment ASK if there's an additional fee or fees and ask how much is the service going to cost in total, otherwise you will be shocked once you check out. ***Response*** Yes, you are supposed to inform the client that there is going to be an additional $20 "technician appointment fee* when the client calls into the office to make the appointment. Not when the service has been provided already and client is expected to pay already.

We have two cats who came to us about 14 months ago from CFA. They had been feral, and they continue to be very scared of everything. They are inside only and very used to us, but we are still unable to pick them up most of the time. One of them started leaving bloody urine on the floor. Our regular vet couldn't see them for another 5 weeks, but I was being told this was an urgent situation.
I was given wait times of up to 8 hours at emergency vet clinics, and almost drove to Seattle, thinking it was my best option. I tried Deschutes first thing in the morning, and they made me an appointment for the afternoon, fitting me in around other appointments and emergencies. I understood I would likely have to wait an indefinite period of time and I was good with this. Making matters worse, I had no idea which cat was having the issue, so I had to have both of them seen-I'm sure an added burden to their already full schedule.
The techs are fantastic, the reception was so kind and friendly, and the care was wonderful. Dr. Greeley handled my two scared, half-feral cats with care, confidence, and compassion. She literally half crawled into their carrier to bring them out. I was in and out in 30 minutes, and that includes vaccinating them (which was completely not in the plan but they kindly did, anyway). Highly, highly recommend. Thank you for seeing my two boys today, for fitting me in, and for giving them great care!

Used to take my dog here, about 3-4 years ago, and they were great. Always had helpful advice, always listened to my concerns and in my opinion charged a reasonable price for their services and never tried to upsale products. Moved from the area, so unfortunately had to change vets which I was never happy about, but convenience won out. Recently my old gal was diagnosed by her regular vet (the one I was not happy with) with cancer of her lungs and liver.
Long story short, her regular vet (again the one I did not care for) could not squeeze her in for an end of life assessment for 2 weeks, even though I stressed to them how my girl could no longer hold her urine, was sleeping in her urine because she was not holding it at night, was pooping in the house, had dropped a lot of weight, and was really struggling to breath, which breaks the heart of any pet owner, especially after loving a pet for 14 years. Anyway, I called up Deschutes and explained what was going on, and thet got her in and agreed to do the end of life assessment for us after receiving my girls medical records.
I am 100% glad I brought her back to Deschutes for her transition, and wish I had never changed vets. This group of vets and their office staff are wonderful and saved us from having to watch our girl suffocate to death. I know this may seem weird, but thank you Deschuttes for helping us out in our time of need and helping our old gal go peacefully.

Initially I loved this vet, however, the receptionists here make it a one star. IF the actually set up your appointment or relayed any information to the vet that would be nice. My dog has a serious issue going on and needs shots. We have called multiple times, they keep saying they are getting records from her old vet and will call back, then they never call.
We called to follow up and then get told "oh we actually haven't even tried to get those records yet, we will do it now and call you back". They haven't called. I have called to speak with the vet to have reception tell me the vet will call me back and then after hours I call to see when the vet can speak with me to be told my message was never relayed.
My animals mean the world to me and it's so frustrating to be given zero care when I call. I think some re-staffing or accountability needs to happen for the current receptionists because they are horrible at their job.

Very friendly staff and great service. We called around everywhere local to have our cat neutered and they were 2-3 months out. Deschutes got him in the next week and neutered him 1 month later. Great vibe because our cat started purring and loving on the staff the moment we walked in the door. Excellent work- our cat was back to his normal self the next day!

We had to say goodbye to our Loki. They had a private room ready for us. They were absolutely wonderful to us and him. Losing a member of our family was so hard and they were so sweet and caring. When his ashes came back he was in a beautiful wooden urn and they saved us some of his hair and even did a mold of his paw too. It is so beautiful. They sent us a card signed by the Dr and staff. They are truly amazing people. I can't thank them and West Coast pet memorial services enough for what they did.
