Alan is a nice person who likes dogs but he's always late to the unlimited classes. We did opt for the training at his house, and our dog came back at least 20 percent skinnier, with kennel cough and fleas. We did not see much change with our dog. The unlimited classes were a better experience but we stopped going after the 6 lessons and just tired of his tardiness.

My Australian shepard has been going to class since 12 weeks when she got her final shots. The Training has been great, Alan is very attentive to each dogs needs. After only 4 of the six puppy classes Zuca is responding to commands like a champ. I haven't used his boarding, but from what I seen I think Allen is great and will continue to take my dogs and refer others!

I've been taking my dog Addie to the Puppy and Unlimited classes since she was 10 weeks old, she currently 11 months old and well trained. Alan takes time to work with her, answer questions anytime someone asked. If you're looking good training for your dog this is the class for you.

I took my foster pup to one of the unlimited classes. I wasn't expecting a lot, but was pleasantly surprised. I had been working with my dog at home, learning how to train from Youtube videos. That was helpful, but you really cannot duplicate a supportive classroom environment with other dogs and doggie parents with the same goals. I think it is the only way you can train your dog to deal with distractions.

It was awesome, and although my pup and I were getting free classes (K9 connections gives free training to foster pups. How cool is that?) Alan spent time with me after class to give me pointers and printed info for at home training. I definitly would have gone to more classes had I not moved from the area. I met Vickie at the Euless Animal shelter a few times and was impressed with her as well, both for her skill with the pups and donating her time. Thanks guys!

Do not waste your time or money with Alan Brown, aka K9 Direction. He is very rude and unprofessional. Unlimited Group Training: We signed up our dog for the unlimited classes and attended weekly for a few months. We quickly realized a few things about these classes. First, Alan is about 15-20 minutes late to every single class. It then takes him 10 minutes to set up.

Keep in mind, these are only hour long classes. Second, the majority of the class time is you doing the same repetitive drills on your own that you could do at home. Third, the last 20 minutes of the class is usually the lesson where Alan would often focus on one or two dogs in a class of 15-20 dogs while you stand there doing nothing. We never received the 3-5 private training sessions that we paid for. Boarding and Training: When we dropped off our dog for boarding and training at Alan's home, I expected him to ask us about any issues our dog had that needs addressing.

He did no such thing. Instead, he just grabbed her by the collar, picked her up, and threw her straight into a crate in the back of his truck. When I tried to tell him the things we wanted worked on, he was very dismissive and seemed to be ignoring me. I left very confused but assumed he was a professional and knew what he was doing. A week later I went to pick her up.

He pulled her out of a crate from his backyard. She was very dirty and smelled terrible. I asked what they worked on throughout the past week so we could continue the training at home, but he shrugged it off and said he would tell me the next day at class. The next day I went up to him after class and asked him the same question. He seemed surprised that I asked again and said they worked on "the usual things" and then walked away from me.

We never received the private lesson that we were supposed to receive after the stay. Alan can be very rough with dogs: On one occasion he was trying to raise our dog from a laying position to a sit. She wasn't responding to his verbal commands so out of frustration he pulled her all the way up by the prong collar until her front paws weren't even touching the ground. We will never be back.

We left our puppy at K9 direction for training. It was a terrible experience. He lost 5 pounds in the days he was there which was over 10% of his body weight. He smelled like he had been laying in feces which took several baths over a few days to correct. He was shaking and whimpering when we picked him up. It was last fall and I neglected to post this until I saw some promotion for this business. Our puppy recovered with a week of TLC but I would be remiss if I didn't warn others not to leave your dog here.

If you are confused about the 5 star vs 1 star reviews, try unlimited class and talk to others first. See how often he is late and what others think about the class, then you will know where those 5 stars come. 4 or 3 stars might be possible, but 5. He spends time to answer your questions after class to gain your trust, then you are convinced to send your dog for the boarding training, which is the start of your dog's nightmare. Dogs do not talk, but you can find clues from them. Furthermore, after the "boarding & training" session, he will very likely meet you at a training class, where he will be very busy after the class in answering other's questions and put you to be the last one.

When finally it is your turn, he must be in a hurry to leave for the next class so there will be no record, no info about the progress, no take home etc which he promised before the "boarding & training". Test the behavior of your dogs after the "boarding & training", you will know how much the program worth. If your dog and the behavior are not getting worse, you are lucky.

As for the 5 star vs 1 star, you do not have to believe either one. Just spend a day to follow all his classes to see how much time he could possibly have for any dog training. Or order a shorter "boarding & training" (he might object with "shorter training does not work" etc) before really leave your dogs 10 to 14 days with him. I hate writing bad reviews, but after reading the sad story of Lola (Savi P.'s dog and his review), I feel it is my responsibility to share the experience. Had I had done that earlier, Lala might be saved.

It is not the money but more about the suffering and even lives of your furry kids. We are their owners and if we do not speak out, how could we be qualified to be their human parents?

I highly recommend Alan Brown's dog training classes. It made such a difference in our dog's life and ours. We adopted our dog as an adult and he was untrained in all aspects. After attending Alan's unlimited training classes, our dog is a new dog. He is obedient, he no longer chews or digs, he listens, he is very enjoyable to walk and he is a joy to have around. Our friends and family noticed the significant changes in our dog as well. Thank you Alan for sharing your expertise! It is invaluable!

Alan is a great trainer! We started going to puppy classes and then started the unlimited program. Our dog is off leash trained and does extremely well. If you are looking for the best dog trainer in DFW, Alan is your man!
