I adore this place. Volunteers are needed. With out responsible people who love animals I would not have my fur baby and Emotional Support Animal. Lyon County had heart for once and got her there. Now she sleeps in bed with me and my wife in her forever home with her forever people. Like Bradley Nowell of Sublime once wrote and sang for his Lou Dog "I love my dog"

All 3 of my fur babies are now chipped. They were so kind and helpful. They were really quick too, so our babies didn't get stressed. Thank you NNHS, you guys are wonderful!

I'm sure this place does a good job and all but they really don't care about fleas. So if you want a bad infestation this is the place to go.

The facilities are clean and well kept. The handlers are friendly and they truly care for the well-being of all the animals. Administratively the place is a bit chaotic but somehow well organized. When we received the call we took time out of a busy Memorial Day weekend to check out a few rescued kittens. What started out as a foster scenario ended up a full blown adoption. Times two.

Of our now 6 rescue animals, two cats are from Catmandu (about a mile up the road) and the rest are humane society alumni. With the inception of the new building accompanied by the "no-kill" label the humane society must be applauded. Rest assured that all cats/dogs be they strays, donated or just surrendered now have a better chance to get back home or find a new one. They also have room for volunteers (hint hint). You can make monetary donations or just donate time and talents.
