As dog parents, we consider our dogs to be family members. We love our dogs and our dogs love us. We play and exercise together, socialize together, and often times, even sleep together. This companionship does not, however, guarantee that our cherished dogs will be well-behaved. We are different creatures, humans and dogs, and in order for our partnership to work, we humans need a clear understanding of how our canine companions think and communicate. As dog parents, we must value the learning process and be committed to becoming effective communicators.

High Hopes Dog Training is amazing. Hope is truly a dog whisperer. She helped me be the best for my dog while she taught us both so much! Our dog, Paxton, came to Hope as a 12 week old puppy. We had a goal of him becoming a therapy dog. One year later and we have achieved our goal which never would have happened without Hope.
Our six week training courses are designed to help you better understand your puppy or dog while teaching them to be well-mannered members of your family. Information will include instruction on how dogs learn and how to communicate with other dogs in a way that they will naturally understand. This will provide you with a better understanding of why your dog does what he or she does.
The single most important (and fun) thing you can do for your puppy? Puppy Kindergarten! For puppies between 10-24 weeks old, socialization with other puppies and people is crucial in order to help them become social, well-balanced dogs. While making lots of friends during off-leash playtime, your puppy will gain confidence by participating in activities and learning basic cues.
Want a dog who listens better? In this basic training course, dog parents will learn how to best communicate with their dogs in order to teach them good manners. Positive reinforcement training methods are used to teach the following behaviors: touch, look, sit, down, stand, come, settle, wait, take it, loose-leash walking, plus more.

I signed up for beginner obedience classes for our 11 month old hound mix. Our dog came to our family from a humane society after being dumped in a parking lot. He is a very reactive dog and barks at everything and we were released from lessons due to him being too disruptive. The trainers seemed knowledgeable, however I was upset with how the situation was handled after I had expressed to Emily that our dog had been attacked in our yard while on leash by another dog that had slipped out of its collar and approached my dog in a hostile manner and a fight ensued.
This has made him apprehensive about other dogs. I felt after expressing this to her, that was the reason we were released from classes. I left feeling hopeless and in tears. We will continue training on our own. Our money was refunded in a prompt manner for the amount of the remaining sessions.

We have used High Hopes for both private lessons and puppy kindergarten. We cannot recommend Hope and her team team enough! They have taught us how to communicate well with our very energetic puppy and train her effectively. We've gone from crazy days with a puppy we didn't know what to do with to happy, fun, and loving days with our well behaved beloved dog. Thank you, Hope!

We adopted our chocolate lab when she was 2 1/2 years old. She had little to no training and very little socialization prior to our adopting her. I brought her to the beginners group classes of High Hopes Dog Training and then after graduating I enrolled her in the intermediate classes. These were a life changer for both my dog and myself. I loved the concept that were were taught, positive reinforcement, and my dog was so enthusiastic to learn that I was amazed at the transformation and progress we both made!
Hope is the absolute best dog trainer in that she communicates so well for both your dog and yourself, making us both feel comfortable and welcome. It's refreshing to witness and so encouraging to see dogs that have had little to no training, frightened, nervous, anxious etc. finish their classes with confidence, a smile and tails wagging! I would highly recommend High Hopes for anyone, regardless of their canine companions stage in training. There you'll see Hope ( and Candace) work to ensure positive outcomes for both you and your beloved dog. Paul ( and my constant companion Penny)

Our family went through Puppy Kindergarten with our new puppy named Shadow. We weren't sure what to expect with a Zoom dog training class but Hope has perfected it. She taught us proper techniques and gave good practical advice for how to raise a puppy. We look forward to moving into the beginner class next. Thank you Hope!

We enrolled our dog Huey in 3 classes. Each class was a great experience for Huey and his pet parents. We intend to enroll in a 4th class in the future. The courses are a great value and Hope is an amazing teacher. She is willing to reach out to participants outside of class time and is very responsive to our needs. Thank you Hope and staff.

High Hopes Dog Training was recommended to me by my vet and I am so pleased that he did. Hope, the trainer, and Sandy, her assistant, are top notch. Although my dog Chloe and I had to do the Beginner Obedience and Good Manners class through Zoom due to Covid, Hope made every effort to make it interesting and exciting for each dog, plus very effective. I would highly recommend her. Patti J

We just finished the Beginner Obedience class with Hope for our shelter rescue. When we first adopted our pup, she was skittish, reactive to strangers (especially men) and very cautious. However in six weeks of Zoom lessons, Hope helped us build our dog's confidence and its been a complete change in her well-being. She knows sit, down, stand, look, and wait and is so much better walking on a leash than she was before the class. She also is much more comfortable with my husband and meeting new people. Hope and her team are amazing and we can't wait to continue training in the Intermediate class!

Hope has been helping our family with two very energetic, intelligent, and leash-reactive dogs. She provides great in-home training that is truly tailored to the things that you want to focus on with your pets. She clearly understands our animals and gives us specific techniques to work with them, complete with practical "homework" to do before the next lesson.
This definitely keeps us accountable. One of the most valuable things about having a trainer like Hope work with you is that she can help you see where you can improve communication with your dog, which is not something that you can easily perceive yourself. I'm a very do-it-yourself kind of person and have learned tons from blogs and YouTube, but having Hope right there alongside me to coach me through adjustments I can make while training my dogs is totally invaluable.
In addition to private lessons, we have also joined her in her Gobedience class, allowing us to take these skills and apply them in real-world environments. We communicated with Hope beforehand about our concerns regarding our dogs' reactivity, and Hope assured us that we would be able to distance ourselves from the group and go at our own pace, which was exactly what we did.
While the dogs were indeed still very reactive, Hope and Candice stopped by to help us with the skills being taught in class as well as provide our dogs with good interactions with strangers, and around other dogs. The dogs were able to calm down by the end of the class, which was a good improvement from where they have been. Gobedience gave us a safe space to train our dogs and work on their reactivity around other dogs and people.
Hope was a tremendous advocate for our pets and helped us feel safe and secure while we were working alongside other trainers. We felt that it was a genuinely good experience, and that while our dogs still have a ways to go with regards to reactivity, we all absolutely love Hope and the training that she facilitates with the dogs.

We are owners of a 3 year old Yorkie, Macy, who had basically no training prior to taking Obedience 101. Hope and Candice did a great job of teaching skills that were easy to learn but also challenged Macy (and us). While we were in a group setting, we received a lot of personalized instruction and gained a lot of knowledge about how to better care for Macy.
I would recommend this class to anyone who has some frustrations with their dog's current behaviors and is in need of a little guidance. We also had a lot of laughs having our dog socialize with all varieties of dogs!
